Juliana, you can completely edit a post. There is an edit button I think on the right side under your message. You can edit as many times as you like.

When we sign up for a group challenge, should we go back in and post as we read each of our books on that challenge. For example, I signed up for the TBR Randomiser Challenge for 6 books. Do I go on that challenge site and post that I finished one of the books and what it was on my own post? And then separately, do I edit the original post that the mod set up that shows "Melissa 0/6" and change it to "1/6" or does the mod do that?Thank you. I track it on My Own Corner thread but unsure what to do on the "official challenge" thread.
Hello there mods! I saw that you're having trouble getting out all of the welcome messages without hitting excessive messaging... What a wonderful problem to have! Anyway, if you need someone to send out messages on behalf of you mods, I would be more than happy to help out.
Cassandra, how sweet of you to offer. :) Our Welcome Committee is definitely running into that issue. Thank you!
Not a question but I could make it a question.Kara, did you know that the January Twin Read thread is in the archive section?
I think this was already asked, but I couldn't find it anymore :/. But my question is: can I count 1 book in two separate challenges? For instance in the monopoly challenge and in the dewey decimal (or something like that) challenge?
Thanks.
And there's an app??? I am going to download it right now!! On this site almost a year and only now am I finding out all the cool stuff!!
Thank you! Now I can sign up for more challenges, and probably finish them :). The app is great, btw!!
Craig wrote: "Hi Melissa, if you just post in the thread when you've read a book towards the challenge, the challenge leader will collect updates at regular intervals and post the overall update."I forgot to come back after reading your response - thank you Craig for answering my question!
If you mean trying to find your members corner easily there is a search bar on the side that can take you directly to your corner or you can post a link for yourself on your primary challenge thread so you can visit it right then and there. Let me know if that helps or if you were thinking of something else (:
Valerie wrote: "Hi ModsWhat's the easiest way to navigate to your Member's Corner?"
Thanks Adriana. Think I've got it now :)
I started a folder in the members corner but I think it should be in the personal challenges 1-50 folder. Is it possible to get it moved? It is under Karen's corner.
Hi Mods,Any chance the links in the "NEW MEMBERS: Start Here" thread could be updated? They are linking to ARCHIVED 2013, but folks are definitely posting there. Thanks!
Karen wrote: "I started a folder in the members corner but I think it should be in the personal challenges 1-50 folder. Is it possible to get it moved? It is under Karen's corner."Moved it for you Karen. You might want to change the title name (:

I'll let Kara know. Thanks Nichelle!
Karen, once you open the thread, you should see a link next to the thread title that says "(edit)".This will take you to a page where you can change the name of your thread.
Kara, thank you! I was trying to do it through the goodreads app which is why I didn't see the edit button at first.
So, here's a question: does rereading a book count towards my challenge if I change it from "read" to "currently reading" and then back again when I'm done? It's really cold, my kids are crazy this week, and I really just want to set aside the 3 or 4 new things I'm part way through and curl up with an old friend . . .
One other question - how do I set it so I get a notification if someone responds to something I post, but not every time someone comments on any discussion in this group? There doesn't seem to be a choice for that.
Thanks! I still seem to have my notifications mixed up - I either get nothing or everything. I just don't want to believe that, at [cough cough] years old, I'm too old to learn a new social media platform . . . ;)
For the record, I finished my re-read and, yes, Goodreads counted it. It still felt a little like cheating, though . . . ;)
Melanie wrote: "For the record, I finished my re-read and, yes, Goodreads counted it. It still felt a little like cheating, though . . . ;)"Melanie you shouldn't feel like it is cheating. For me, I often forget things, sometimes even big events and the re-read almost seems like a new book. For some books that I have re-read several times, I get something new out of that book each time I read it. I believe that if you are putting the time into reading a book, it shouldn't matter if you are reading it for the 10th time or the first time.

I totally agree with Jodi. Reading a book is reading a book, no matter how many times.
Thanks, guys. I love reading new stuff, but sometimes you just need the comfort of an old friend. :)
Melanie wrote: "One other question - how do I set it so I get a notification if someone responds to something I post, but not every time someone comments on any discussion in this group? There doesn't seem to be ..."Hi Melanie, I'm sorry--I must've completely missed this. You can find instructions on how to tackle this here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
You can't automatically set it to every reply you get, but you can choose the threads to follow. Hope this helps!
Agreed, Jenna--it doesn't matter. I think Goodreads only tells you so you're aware of how to pace yourself. I read less in January due to business travel, so Goodreads is telling me that I'm four books behind right now; I just ignore them. I'm right on pace per my own expectations.
Melanie, it's your profile page. From any page on Goodreads, you can click on your picture in the upper-right corner to get to your profile. For your specific profile, click here: https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/2...
Hello, is there a specific page to suggest challenges?I am doing an A-Z challenge where you try and read a book for each letter of the alphabet?
All you have to do is edit the post you have your challenge list on. Click edit on the bottom right of your post. Is that what you mean Christine?
Yes, Christine, why don't you go ahead and generate a new random number? I think that's totally fair.
Hi Debbie,You'll have to mark them as "currently-reading" and then "read" as you go to have it happen automatically (rather than just straight to "read").
If you've already read books that aren't showing up, follow these directions:
1. Go to your "My Books" list
2. Click the green "edit" link next to the book that you would like to count in 2014
3. Under the review box, enter the date in the boxes next to "Date I finished this book"
Let me know if you have any questions!
Someone here mentioned a goal that is in the corner of your main page when you log in and automatically updates when you mark books as read. How do you set that number?
Hi...do we have an April book yet? Last month was the first time I actually read the book of the month and now I'm all excited about it!
100% my bad, Melissa--Craig asked if I could help him out for a bit, and I completely forgot! I'll get it added today.
Do audio books count toward the challenges? I do a lot of mindless paperwork at my job and I often listen to audio books. I also find the audio books on youtube. Do I just find the same audio book on goodreads and mark it as read? Is that cheating?
Definitely not cheating! If Goodreads counts it as a book (and audiobooks are certainly listed as books here), then you can count it.After you find the book, you can select the audiobook edition as well.
Hi there, I just joined this group yesterday so still a little lost :) What is the difference between the Personal Challenge threads and the Members Corner threads? In which one would we post progress with our 2014 reading goal? And the themed tasks that are done monthly, quarterly, etc, do we post about those in the Members Corner or Personal Challenges? Thanks for the help!
