The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Just finished
and now matter how many times I read it, It's one of my favorites! after reading this book, I can't say I was the same person, great job John Green.
'' I lit up like a Christmas tree'' I had to close the book to get up and pace for minutes before crumbling onto the floor in snot and tears at 1 in the morning.
I can't describe my feelings. All of it's too much to take in all at once. It was written beautifully, and why am I calling 'it' an it? The piece of art is one of my favorite books, and it will always get to me. Every single piece of it, I adored it.
This was one of the best books that I have read, and I would recommend it to anyone who loves a good story. I literally felt for Hazel and Augustus as if they were my best friends. I hope everyone else enjoys this book as much as I did.
I loved this book. It is beautifully written. I listed to it on audio and it was also beautifully read.
Some of it was cool. I liked the young falling in love story. I liked the heroine's obsession of a particular book. It was good, I enjoyed this book. But, yeah. I spent a lot of time laughing at all the wrong moments. I can't help it. I guess you just can't take me anywhere ;)

Ellyn wrote: "Just one niggling problem, wondering if anyone agrees. Although it did not interfere with my enjoyment of the book at all -- did anyone feel that these teens were a little too evolved for their age..."yup.
Dominique wrote: "I get that they are teenagers with cancer and that has given them extra maturity ..."I agree. I felt the characters were too mature for their age. I have no idea if teenage cancer matures a teenager, so I had to just go with it, but really was raising my eyebrow at the fancy dinner, the whisking off to Amsterdam, the extremely witty banter.
Palina wrote: "But Hazel stayed at home so she was able to educate herself more and spend lots of time reading books. She's also already passed high school, so she would be smarter than the average high school student...."Smart is not the same as mature.
Although, come to think of it, Hazel's insistence that Van Huten tell her how the story ends was pretty immature.
I keep flip-flopping on this (obviously). I guess some of the maturity turned me off and some of the immaturity felt more natural (though irritating).
This book was really good and the romance was nice. I don't usually read "cancer" books but this one was really good so I guess I'll be reading more books like this one. I won't be forgetting Hazel and Augustus.
I just got a The Fault in Our Stars shirt!! Aaaahhhh!
I love the book!!! it is one of my favorites! Thanks John Green, for make me cry and laugh a lot! :D
I read this book a couple of months ago and it really drew change in my views about life. Recently I have had batch mates and friend of friends who have died (not only because of cancer but because of other causes too). Seeing the posts of how well they've known the individual and wished they could have spent more time with them, expressing how the person was a great part of who they are now allowed me to grasp on to Hazel's sentiments about why they would express such feelings when the person is no longer there: why did they have to wait till the person died before they said how great he/she was. This was also the book that made me believe that love surpasses all, even illness. And even amidst the worst circumstances, i.e being diagnosed with cancer, you can still find the love you know you deserve.
I had a mix of emotions with this book; I both hated how it made me ball up and cry like a baby an loved how it made me believe in the power of love. This also inspired me to never give up despite the situations that come my way; others may have it worst.
:)
While i was reading this AMAZING book i needed to take breaks every once and a while because i just couldn't handle all the emotions!! I never thought i'd be so touched by this book.
Before I read this book, I always thought people were overreacting and being a bit dramatic when telling me about the book. But I ended up with tears streaming down my cheeks because it was so beautiful and emotional and amazing!Loved every word.
This was a book-buddy read for me and not something I would normally pick up. I loved the book and it really touched me. I'm very far from being a teenager but I could still relate to the characters. Someone mentioned that they seemed too mature for their age? Well, Perhaps but maybe that is why I could relate at my age to these characters in a YA genre. I found it sad and touching but it wasn't over-the-top bawling sad - I can't handle those!
This book is my favorite book I have ever read. I have read this twice, the second time was in one sitting. Its the first book I have ever re-read. I love this book mostly because of all it teaches me. Plus the story is just so beautiful. I hope the movie lives up to the book!

My ultimate favorite book, hands down. I HAVE to meet John Green and thank him eversomuch for writing such an intelligent book!
It was an amazing book, and was full of humor. It's target audience is teens, but I think it works well for everyone. And I agree with Kara, even though the two love interests had cancer, they seemed relatable, the ordinary teens. I loved it a lot, and I'm usually not up for romance novels, but this was worth it. I really enjoy Augustus's view on life, how we're all trying to be notable, and rembered. I found myself agreeing with this kid a lot, haha. But I do have to say the hype made me have huge expectations, and I don't think they were quite met. So if you haven't read it, try not to dive into it with expectations of the best book ever.
I finished this book about 20 minutes ago...I still don't think I can give this book justice quite yet, maybe ever. I fell in love with Green's writing and the progression of all of the characters throughout the book. Having recently lost a close family member I felt I could relate to the topic of death which so many find a hard thing to understand. Which don't get me wrong death is hard at any stage and any age. I think Green did a standup job at creating strong characters that even though are fated with the inevitable as is everyone, their time has come sooner that most should, but nonetheless strive through life's toughest times to gain love, friendship, and leave this earth having touched someone (even if that wasn't some's intention). I have so much love for this book, I'm scared I won't come across one that gave me what this did.
Kara wrote: "What I liked about this book is that even though I don't have cancer I could still relate to Hazel and Augustus. I liked this book because it made them seem normal, even though they've been through..."I agree. Although I've never been through what they had, I found it very relatable. It was an easy book to read. Gone in one sitting for me (lucky me I was on holidays!)
The song The Fault in Our Stars Song by Troye Sivan is amazing, along with Amsterdam by Imagine Dragons -- they fit the book perfectly.
What's always bugged me, after I've read this book, is if Agustus and Hazel would've stayed together. When you're a teenager and you have a boyfriend, you think it's going to last forever. Because you're a teenager and you both have so much in common. But, as we all know, it never lasts forever. Things happen, people grow up, people move away. I guess what I'm trying to get at is how do we know that Agustus and Hazel are absolutely perfect for each other? It never really says but it is sort of implied. And how do we know Hazel didn't move on or anything? God, I'm sounding like Hazel with An Imperial Infliction.
Isn't it weird -don't even know what word to use- that Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort as Tris Prior and Caleb Prior in Divergent will play Hazel and Augustus? Like I mean... incest? lol what do you think guys?
The fault in our stars is really an amazing book. When I finished it I just wanted ro read it again. And what I liked the most was the brilliant dialogues between Hazel and Augustus. Of course I'm going to read other John Green's books!
Finally got around to reading this book just recently, I had to wait ages for the library to get it in, and then I was the first one to borrow it out. It is utterly beautiful book, with somewhat a tragic ending. It was brilliantly written and I absolutely loved it.

Me too!! :D
Me too!! :D
I had a love & hate relationship with this book. I loved the atory, but I was so upset with the ending, I ended up crying & throwing the book acriss my physics lab; very emotional book.
The library had a long waiting list, but it was worth the wait! It was one of those books that once I started reading I didn't want to put down. I really enjoyed the characters' personalities. I am glad I read the book!
The Fault in our Stars by John Green is one of those emotional reads that throb with tragedy and love.I sobbed my eyes out while reading this novel.
I loved that the author showed CANCER in its true form and meaning, not as the sweetened version most authors tend to use.
This novel sheds light on the fact that cancer patients don't often get their happily ever after, they suffer, cry and question the fairness of their situation.
They might love, they might smile on some occasions, but the almighty barrier that always stands in their way is the most asked question : How long will they live?
I love the way the author ended the book. I thought it was perfect the way it is.
John Green is simply brilliant:)
Hi all, I finished TFIOS yesterday I can't believe how beautiful it was. I seriously can't stop thinking about it. The whole book could be highlighted! ❤❤❤

And thank god I did!
This book moved me. I know how much of a cliché that is, but I don't know how else to say it. I laughed and I cried and I was heartbroken and had my faith restored by the end of the book. I love the way Hazel doesn't play the victim - she's just a girl and she has Cancer, the same way you have short hair and I have weak nails that break all the time. The literary references were beautifully realistic and even though some of the story wasn't very typical life moment, it was still so grounded and believable. I don't have the proper words to explain this book, just read it for yourself and you'll know what I mean.
