I loved this book as well, and love his writing style. I think loved paper towns more, though.

And I think you are correct. Both Perks and Stars are about suffering. For me..I feel the characters feel alone in their suffering..but soon come to realize that we are not really alone. That there is company out there…if we open ourselves up to it
Hi Andrea, I'm Andrea as well (gonna have to deal with that). TFIOS is a book I saw all over "you have to read this" lists and chose to read it because the Huffington Post chose it for it's current read. I loved it...can't stop thinking about it almost a month later. Kids aren't supposed to deal with losses like this, but they do, and this book makes us understand that.
I loved this book as well! My favorite part of John Green's books is his characters. They're so sarcastic and weird and geeky, but yet so real and impossible NOT to like. I love his characters so much that I'd be riveted reading about them fixing a light bulb. Ha! :)
Finally. I just finished reading The Fault in our Stars last night. I don't know what to say. It's great. It's perfect. The first time I actually allowed myself to cry while reading a book. I just let it out and I'm not ashamed... because it's worth it. :D

I loved this book. I couldn't put it down. My husband had to pry it out of my hands as I was crying so much 200 pages in. I feel the target audience, may have been for a younger group, but the issues and situations that came up were written beautifully and intelligently. Have recommended to others
I'be been putting off reading this one as I have a thyroid problem myself and I'm also a hypochondriac! I know that throughout the whole thing I would be worrying and looking up symptoms on the internet!
This book was extremely poignant in it's representation of living with cancer. I was diagnosed with Ovarian Dysgerminoma when I was younger, and was haunted by much of the same thoughts and feelings. This book did a very good job at portraying the emptiness one often feels when battling cancer. People are always around to support you, but don't understand how you're dealing with it personally. Very weel written. Great character development and voice. I've recommended this book to many of my friends and family.

I read your blog - it is great :)
I just got this book today...I've been putting it off because I have a thyroid issue too and I know it's going to make me look up things...I will try and read it not sure if I'll succeed...wish me luck.
I have just finnished this book and I truly LOVED it. I was funny, beautiful, amazing, heartbreaking and everything else. Before I began reading TFIOS I thought this was going to be just a crying-my-eyes-of-book, but surprisingly it was not! This book tells a beautful story of two cancer-kids and is just so great written, it made me laugh and smile (but I have to admit I got tears in my eyes at the end). In a way it reminded me of The Perks of Being a Wallflower (which I also LOVED)
I would really recommend this book to EVERYONE!
:) This book has really pure love and its sweet and powerful. I think the reason why i love this book so much was because it had alot of meaning about life written into it. I got so teary in the end :(
I finished this book the other day and was blown away! I re-read parts of it and even picked up things I missed the first time. I absolutely positively fell in love with Hazel and Augustus, which is why this book broke my heart! I don't think I've ever cried as much reading any other book. OMG, the prefuneral chapter just killed me! It really gave me some perspective as to what people deal with on a daily basis who are inflicted with this horrible disease. Despite how sad this book made me feel, I think this is one of my most favorite books I've ever read.
This book got me into John Green. I'm not going to say TFIOS was perfect or anything... but I am in love with the characters. Augustus and Hazel were both intelligent and down to earth. It's difficult to find people like them in my age group.
I don't normally like to read books that could be depressing. I find that there is enough in life that we have to deal with and that reading should be fun and something to take your mind off of the tough stuff everyone is going through and get our of our heads for ahile. That being said: I really liked this book. I laughed at Gus and Hazel's conversations and the way the view what they were going through. Yes it was sad but I really enjoyed reading about their journey.

Unfortunately characters like H and A seems to exist only in books :(
I loved this book...two of my friends forced me to read it and its been my favorite ever since...I love the way that john green writes...such a moving story...it took me three days to finish...I read al but the las five chapters the first day but then I couldn't make myself finish it for a few days because it was so sad...I love the end such an inspirational book
I finished this book in 2 days...At first I was hesitate to start it but once I did I could not put it down. This was a great book but it was very sad. I feel like it was more than a book it was just great... I can't wait to read more books from John Green.
I have been trying to find a copy of this for what seems like for ever! I finally found a copy which I will be purchasing tomorrow and will be eagerly reading it tomorrow night!
Tori wrote: "My friend told me that I didn't have a heart because I didn't cry. xD Did any of you cry?"Tori,
I didn't cry but I felt the agony. The end hit me like a ton of bricks. It took me a little bit to recover after I researched John Green & whether the ending was real or not (I had an ebook & thought maybe the end didn't download, lol).
I liked this book. Once I've started reading it, it was impossible to put it down. I cried a little when (view spoiler).I think the way that Hazel's favourite book ended in the middle of a sentence, really describes death as it is
I loved this book! John Green is a great writer. I live in Amsterdam and loved how Green described the city. It gave me a whole other view of the city, for I mostly just see it as an crowded, noisy place.
Although it wasn't my favorite, and not as well-written as it could have been, the story was fantastic.
I got this book for my birthday (7th of April) and finished it the next day, I had been dying to read it since it was first published, so I knew I would finish it quickly regardless of whether I enjoyed it or not...I agree with Apoorva, it wasn't as well-written as it could have been or as well-written as I expected, but I found it a really lovely book, and I think it has now become one of my favourites simply because of the story line.
I agree with both you, Fiametta and Apoorva.. It's not really well written but the way Green writes, the way the story develops and everything else makes up for it. I different kind of writing would change the way the sotry is told and probably would be this lovely
I liked this book! I don't usually read this genre, but I definitely liked it. It was a quick read and didn't drag. John Green had the perfect amount of detail, and the characters were quirky, which is always fun! The only downside would be all the hype around it, it was built up so much that in the end it was kind of a slight letdown but it's still a very good and the writing is phenomenal.
I have read a lot of tear jerker books, so I thought I could handle a John Green teen cancer book. But no, John Green ripped my heart out with this book. Mostly because I could relate to the characters, the humour, quick witted banter it was just heart shatteringly beautiful. For me, because I read this book when it first came out, before my friends had read it, not being able to talk about it with any one for fear of spoilers added to the tragidy to the book. Because I needed to talk to someone about the great hole in my chest where my heart use to be.
So it makes me a little sad that people think its an over hyped book, because I was one of those people adding to the hype.
I loved the book allot, I didn't think I would. Not for any paticular reason did I think that but either way; I was wrong. Has anyone thought of good songs that go with the theme of the book? If not try the song Manchester by Kishi Bashi :)
Spirit wrote: "I loved the book allot, I didn't think I would. Not for any paticular reason did I think that but either way; I was wrong. I loved this book. My favourite thing about it was that it wasn't just another cancer book. The author was seemingly very aware how books which relate to cancer are all pretty much the same and managed to make his shine.
It was a well written book. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys ya books -- but not on my top list of recommendations because of not connecting with the teenagers in the book.

It was my second John Green book I've read and it was such a great reading experience! I think I've read it in a personal record time, it was addictive from the first page till the last!
It was beautifully written, hands down!
John Green is brilliant, people may claim all his characters throughout all his books are similar, but I don't mind it personally. I think they are great and I can relate to so many things it scares me. He puts everything I've once felt or thought so good in words I just love all these memorable quotes!
Personally I liked Looking for Alaska better, maybe that's because it was my first John Green experience but Fault in Our Stars is a very close second! :)
I usually would've never picked up books of this kind of genre but now I'm really addicted and can't get enough of them! Give me more! :)
I read is book as summer reading for my school. I really enjoyed it. I typically do not like books about cancer patients. This book inspired me and made me consider life. This book is truly spectacular. It was hilarious yet hard breaking. Perfection.
I LOVED the way he described the falling in love, it was so spot on... It was so kind and sweet and true and challenging, the gentle slide into love. Such a fantastic book. I wrote a review of it here on my goodreads page and on my author page marywallace.com. My daughter begged me to read it and I'm so glad I did. He really captured the smarts and dignity of teens, not just cancer teens...
Mary wrote: "I LOVED the way he described the falling in love, it was so spot on... It was so kind and sweet and true and challenging, the gentle slide into love. Such a fantastic book. I wrote a review of it ..."I completely agree with you on that one, Mary.
This so amazing because it sort of made me appreciate my life more and I could totally relate to Hazel's depression (different reasons of course). It also had it's funny moments and it was greatly written. 5 stars for sure! <3
