brilliant book read it within a day. Loved it one of the best books i've ever read. Was the first John Green book I have read so i'm wanting to read more of his work now. Did i bawl... no but it did bring tears to my eyes lovely book in its own way not focused on the cancer but the characters themselves and the 'normal' things about life.

I read this book as soon as it came out and it is still one of my favourites. I know lot's of people tend to not appreciate John Green's characters, however I am the same age as most of them including Hazel, and I can really relate to her thought process. I got quite attached to the characters of Hazel and Augustus. I just love how Green explores big concepts surrounding things like death without making it a really heavy read. I just found that this book made me really stop and consider what the characters were saying about aspects of life, and apply it to my own life. Another success of this book is that unless it was specifically mentioned, I would continuously forget how close to death both characters were. I'm not going to lie when I say that I probably cried for a week after finishing this book, but maybe I'm just too emotional.

Fault really grabbed me by the heart, and I loved it. It really makes you think about a lot of things
I loved it. You can really tell, that John Green respects his readers, as in he doesn't talk down to them. The Fault in our stars made me think a lot about life in general. The characters were just so loveable, I didn't even realize that their story was kinda insta lovish. It just felt so raw and genuine.

So true, so true.
What I loved the most about TFIOS, and the reason why I think many other YA's love it is because it doesn't talk down to its readers. You can tell how well immersed John Green is with teenager culture, as for once we have very intelligent teenage characters. I find that with YA books, in a few sad cases, characters are "dumbed down", and Green never makes that mistake. Every emotion feels raw and true, making all the characters real. I love how there were so many ideas going on at once, from books within books, to how we take the simple act of breathing for granted.
I'm currently reading Looking for Alaska, I loved it so much.
Absolutely the saddest and at the same time most beautiful story I have ever read. There is a million things I could say about this book but that would take forever to put down. This novel is beautifully written and John Green is my hero. Love his work: period. Hazel and Augustus's story will forever be in my heart and I ball like a baby whenever someone brings it up.

Whoa! She's the leads in both of group reads?..."
Haha, why can't GR have a like button for comments like yours? I want to see who the male leads are going to be, of course. Who would be a great Four? Riddle me that.
My fave book so far!!! I just cried almost for all the book ahhaha I love tragic story and this was the perfect one. John green is such an amazing writer, I love the words he uses, the atmosphere he’s able to create. I just wish to meet him one day in my life.

I have been reading some of the picks that my daughter has for a Battle of the Books and loved A Single Shard.

This story was one of the best YA fiction novels I have ever read. It was touching and added going to Amsterdam to my bucketlist! Even though I don't have cancer, I felt like I could vision myself inside the story. The title is witty as well and makes me want to read other novels by this author!
Okay. Can I give 6 stars for this? Words can't explain how much I loved this book. I don't have a cancer but I don't know why I can relate with Hazel and Augustus.
The author,John Green is one of genius. The book was more than beautifully written - it was uniquely inspiring. I finished the book in 24 hours and I can't wait to read the rest of John Green's published collection of literature!
I finished the book a few hours ago. It took me a day to read it and I loved it. John Green is such a genius really.Still don't know what my emotions are and I'm in love with Augustus. Yes.

He's such a wonderful person.
This book was beautiful. It was so eloquently written and the characters felt very real to me, like I could relate even though I personally haven't had to go through cancer. It made a lasting impact and is definitely going on my favorites shelf.
I can't stop thinking about this book. I read it in a day, and then dreamed about it. I've always loved John Green's work, but this was especially good. Amazing that I laughed out loud so many times in such a potentially depressing book. His dialogue is great - I kept wanting to read it aloud to people. Raw, and funny, and honest and, in the end, uplifting.
I love books by this author but this one stayed with me I so wanted a happy ending but like the book they read it was bittersweet that's what made one of my favorites it shows the angst and ugliness that comes with illness while also makes u want to cling your love ones to you
I FREAKIN' LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!! GUS/AUGUSTUS WATERS WHY?????
Brittany wrote: "ok I just bought this book and the life of PI which should I start first?"I've just read both and I'd go with "Fault in our Stars" first. It's a fast roller-coaster of a book, emotionally involving and just amazing, but a much quicker read than "Life of Pi" which is more of an intellectual/philosophical challenge - a great book but one that will demand more time-wise. You have two wonderful reads ahead of you :)
I wasn't going to read this book but I am so glad that I did. I am floored by this. I finished it this morning and I am still thinking about it. Even though you knew from the beginning that someone would die, you can't help but have this hope that everything will work out and it doesn't. The integration of "An Imperial Affliction" and the ending. It is heart-warming and heart-wrenching all at once and I loved it.
I had a friend in high school who was diagnosed with an incurable fatal disease. I always didn't know what to say or do. I just wished this book had been written before he passed so that he could have read it. I am only half way through it but I love it.
I really loved this book. The story was unique and different but also very entertaining. It makes you reexamine your life and death and the afterlife as Hazel and Gus deal with everything that happens to them. It is a funny and sad book at the same time. All in all I give it 5 stars out of 5.
I just bought it and since I have a bit of extra time at work I'm expecting a wonderful, fast read! :-)
I just finished it last night before I went to bed. The ending broke my heart. I guess it is because I know someone who had a fatal disease that was incurable. This book was also my first green book and is now close to my heart forever more
I became a John Green fan last year when I started reading his novels with my first being An Abundance of Katherines. I quickly moved through several other of his titles. One thing I really like about John Green are his characters - they seem like genuinely real people you might know. That said..onto The Fault in Our Stars. I liked it *sigh* but I didn't love it. I had picked it up so many times in the book store prior to reading any John Green. The cover caught my attention. Then it got so many great reviews I think I had my expectations so high up that it wasn't possible for the book to meet them. Okay, maybe, that doesn't really hold up because I have had high expectations for other books and not been disappointed (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Gone Girl just to name two.I'm not sure what didn't do it for me in this book. I liked the characters just fine, they didn't irritate me. But the feeling behind the story just didn't hit me. I wasn't sad at any point and I think I should have been. So still a John Green fan, but this one was just okay IMHO.
I just finished it and I loved it, was truly amazing and i'm not gonna lie it had me in to tears for almost the entire book.
i love the book. read it in one sitting. really how he made the cancer girl a hero as i didnt focus on her illness no more but how she stood by the boy. it had funny perks in it and i would love to read it again.
The one line that struck me was "It occurred to me that the one person I wanted to talk to, about the death of Augustus Waters, was Augustus Waters"
I broke.
I can never be repaired.
John Green you have done it again.
This book was beautiful! I couldn't put it down. Some reviews I read we're mad that he wrote about cancer not knowing if he experienced it. I thought he did an amazing job. I fell in love with the characters!!
I gave it 5 stars for being so honest. It wasn't a sugarcoated fantasy story, and some of it wasn't all that pretty. I think everyone could appreciate the raw aspect of it. Reading this book made me want to think more like Gus, take more risks, and live like I have a life-threatening disease.
Brittany wrote: "It was a sad beautiful book. I think Nicholas Sparks has some new competition"I think there's not even a question! Green > Sparks
XD
I just finished the book and it is now my FAVORITEI was so happy with how this was written, because it made the characters seem so real and personable that I found myself unable to put it down. I love when a book does that!
I finished it yesterday after finding that I had a very hard time putting it down. Having had a friend who died last year of COPD, I found myself remembering his feelings and fears from phone calls as he struggled not to drown. I felt so close to Hazel and I had to keep reminding myself that she was a character in a book. I realized the medicine she described was the medicine that he used to handle the fear. It was good that she realized that author Von Horrible had lost someone and he was not a surviver, but her parents would be. Yes, that book will be with me for a long time.
