Here is my question of the day (well it might be more than one but it is all related and I need some honest feedback here - thanks everyone):
Are you angry at book writers, whose books you purchase, if their works are riddled with mistakes, even if the story is good or has potential? Would you spend money on books that have grammatical and spelling mistakes? Get you angry at them (the self publishing writers) for pushing out one book after the other without doing "after care", especially if people point out mistakes? Is it all money grabbing or are these people just creative authors who care more about the story than the speech to convey it? Do you care if the book was for free???

Even if the book is free, I get highly annoyed when there are a ton of grammatical and spelling mistakes, even more so if I paid for the book. An occasional error (or a few) I can forgive, but error after error? Um, no.
Even worse, I've read a book or two where sentences were truncated halfway through--literally, there was only half a sentence. And this continued throughout the book.

I'm at the point really where it's like you get what you pay for in free reads these days. I used to be more annoyed. But it for sure seems like free does not mean 'paid any kind of attention to detail whatsoever' where most authors are concerned.
And if I paid for something that has a ton of errors I'm pissed and chucking it. Physical book or ebook. Does not matter.

Now if it was Author Goddess...actually, I remember her apology after hurrying out a book that got really bad reviews. No further problems. Fini!

I'm at the point rea..."
Yeah, definitely not good. And it was otherwise a pretty good book, which is what really sucks about it.
Agreed, you get what you pay for in free reads ... and some very low-priced reads, too, come to think of it. Anymore, I find myself checking the one- and two-star reviews on free (and low-priced) reads, to see what readers disliked. If the issue with bad editing comes up continuously, then I know to skip the book.
Don't get me wrong, I have found some absolute gems in free and low-priced reads. =) And yes, I've gotten highly addicted to some series that way (our own AG included, when the Kindle DH books went on sale for like $1.99 a couple years ago) ;D
Cindi, I agree thoroughly ... too many good authors out there, to mess with books with bad editing. =)

What do you do when you just discovered the series you have been reading has suddenly been discontinued?
Just happened to me and it was just going to be a 4 book series as that. I'm soooo bummed. I've been waiting for months to see when the 4th book was coming out and now it's NEVER coming out ugh. I'm tempted to message the author and ask has she considered self publishing lol.

And yea I know right? In general, I feel like even if you can't say much about the series any more. Just put it out there that the damn thing is over! I've felt this way before with another series, even though on the author's site, she kept it posted that she is just going through some writer's block but is still determined to get out the next book in her series. Even gave a name to it. But it's been YEARS now since I've last read that from her. So not sure if she totally gave up on it or what now.
Oh and I did message the author of the initial series I was talking about. And she said, that yes even she was sorry she couldn't see the 4th book through. And how the idea she pitched wasn't what her publisher was looking for and that the other books in the series hadn't sold as well. I even posed the self pub idea to her. But I think she is at the stage where she is kind of wigged out about trying something like that and losing her secure publishing. So she didn't even address that and asked if I tried one of her other complete series that is kind of similar to the one I was already reading. But I'm not really feeling her other stuff like I was with the series I was currently reading.

oh and nothing more to it. once ure free ure free lol

About 15 years ago I was in a car wreck and broke my left hand/wrist (I'm a lefty) and OMG you wouldn't believe how hard it was to write with my right! And learning to, ahem, take care of personal hygiene with the other hand was, well, the shizz. So many things were so hard that I'd be feasting on those mice!

lmao same way here with my left too sis!

owwie DX. LOL! @ banquet

Are you just trying to make me feel bad about myself, Dh?

Are you just trying to mak..."
Was thinking the same thing Cindi.
When I did go the last time I jumped on the treadmill, but I do walk to warm up.

Are you just trying to mak..."
Not in the least. I'm actually the ding bat that doesn't exactly have a clue what in the world to start with when at the gym. I was hoping others that might go know more than I do, LOL. Cause although I went Wed. to try it out the different machines at my dad's gym. I have hardly a clue what to start on, cause I haven't been in a gym environment since I was in school(middle to high school) gym.
So all this weight lifting stuff and even the other bikes and stuff is well over my head. If it wasn't for my dad showing me some stuff that first day, I'd have spazzed out as everybody else seems to have such a routine and know what they want to hop on and go to it. Whereas I'm just standing around like what the freak do I do?
I will add that I had to look up tips for the gym and a ideal routine on what to do when there. So definitely not trying to make any one feel bad in the least. If anything educate myself, as I'm the least fitness inclined person that I know. Hell even my 70+ year old dad is taking to the machines and lifting and flipping around on stuff like he is a freaking trained gymnast or something. I tried and I think nearly dislocated my arm pits, haha.

Yea, I think I'll hold off on the weights too save for the few pound weights my mom had here at the house. Cause the dudes at my dad's gym kind of intimidate me a bit with all that weight lifting. And all the scowling they do watching themselves lift. It's like dude it is not that serious. Turning to the left and right. Looking like a step away from kissing their biceps or something. That's just not my arena over there at the moment.
Yea, mainly my thing has always been to find a good routine to help me work on toning my thighs and arms up better. So from the routine I found online they said it was good to try doing Mon, Wed, Fri, for cardio and Tues. and Thurs. for weight training(or as I'll think of them work on my arms and thighs days) and then do static stretching after on each of those days. Which I guess is post work out stretching(which again I'm not sure if that is better than stretching before the work out or not as I've read somewhere that said that it wasn't such a good idea to do it before the workout, can't remember why though now).
And also for doing the cardio workout, like how much cardio do you think is good? Cause I know for my dad he starts out with the stationary bike before he does this one rowing machine and other machines for his work out. But again since I'm just starting out and I know the one site I looked up, they said do it for 15 mins. But since I'll be going with my dad(at least two times a week to start out. He goes everyday) and we stay roughly an hour or so. And I also want to try out the other cardio machines. Should I do like 15 mins per machine or do like 8 mins at first on each machine to try it out to see if I like it and then switch?
Also what are your thoughts on a good snack would be before working out? Popz has his usual breakfast(cereal, tea, boiled egg, juice) before he goes. But I'm not usually a morning person and eating so early is not my thing. So I have no clue what to munch on before hand other than a sandwich bag with a few cherrios in there.

http://www.popsugar.com/fitness/10-Mi... and although I was kind of into it for the first few mins(as uncoordinated as ever mind you), I could barely last the full interval of the reps they were going for each exercise and had to stop more than a few times throughout the clip. And totally feel a touch queasy after doing so at that.
So I more than know for sure I am very much out of shape if I can't even last 10 mins with an at home video, haha. But I'll keep at it and eventually I can be on cue with the darn thing, til I can save up for this gym membership. But til then I'm definitely going to cut everything down to at least 4 mins of exercise then 4 mins of resting starting out on the machines. Otherwise I might have projectile vomit incident and yea I don't think the little paper towels and spray bottle cleaners be enough for that clean up.

I'm not in great shape either, and I certainly haven't been to a gym since ... high school. Although I did take an aerobics class in college. =)
I'd say that you've got the right of it, Dhfan--start off slow and work your way up. If a few minutes at a time is all you can handle for now, then that works as long as it raises your heart rate.
I remember reading about a marathon runner who started running to lose weight, and the first time she ran, she almost collapsed at the end of the block. Needless to say, it took her a while before she could run for longer than that. =)
