I'm so used to the faster pace of today's 250 page books. This was very, very detailed and very slow paced. I like reading these classics on occasion, but I'm glad to get back to some modern fiction too. I think you're going to adore the miniseries. I'm gonna try to watch the second tonight before bedtime too ;)

I think that he just at that moment realized how strong his feelings were for her. They always spoke as enemies and yet there was an attraction too. The sight of her like that sort of scared his feelings to the forefront.

It broke my heart when he left and was wandering the streets. Boo hoo! Poor Thornton! And didn't you just want to shake Margaret? Glad it's picking up for you. I thought the second half was more captivating.

I remembered the scene from p&p where mr darcy proposed and she rejected and said she was insulted etc which she was because of what he said , but here she acted so insulted when all he did was praise and thank her .
This. Book has way more pride and esp prejudice on M's part than p&p .

Absolutely! That lady that commented earlier on the BR mentioned that this may have been modeled after p and p? This is definitely the more dramatic of the two.
Oh ! I didn't notice that one ! I don't really see that many similarities but yes the feelings here are much much stronger and way more strongly expressed , the pride shows more and the prejudices aren't attempted to be solved , instead increased .
Lines like " I don't want to explain myself to you " " you don't even want to understand " etcetc .....

Oh good! You're more than half way now. I think it does go a little quicker in the 2nd half. But that might be because we are all already smitten with Thornton :) But a lot has been happening too so it doesn't seem as slow to me.Right?! The ugly baby thing had me cracking up! I mean how would you feel if your mom told you that your brother was so beautiful and great as a baby, but tells you that you were an ugly little thing.

But it's also that I remember in the beginning of the story M stated that she lived with her Aunt Shaw & Edith from the time that she was 9, only visiting with her parents on holidays. So I don't get why her parents leaned on her so much since, for the last 9 years, she was hardly around. As for Dixon, she had been with Mrs. Hale from even before she married Mr. Hale so I can understand Mrs. Hale's relationship with Dixon and her affection for her.You guys talking about P&P makes me want to read that one too. I think I watched the movie years ago but don't really remember it. I actually haven't read any classics in a few years so forgot how sweet they are.
I read p&p atleast twice a year ! It is my alltime fave book :D:D
Wow you read it that often? I'll add it :) I'm going to try to read at least one classic a month. Although I'm STILL trying to listen to Anna Karenina which is so hard. In 1 month, I've only gotten through about 20% of it. Now THERE is a story that I think has a lot of useless things going on! And it's SOOOOOO long! Hopefully I get through it before the end of the year :)

At 67% she is finally realising that she feels something for him! Finally !!!
There are so many (like P&P) that I've never read and I like to switch it up at times, not reading the same types of books in a row because otherwise they just all bleed together. You just need to be in the right mind-set because the writing is so different than modern books. And like you said, after 3 or 4 chapters you get tired. It's not to say that the story is bad, you just have to read it slower :)

I asked Blacky her opinion of how Fanny got so spoiled. She did grew up poor, and she's acting toward Margaret like she lived all her life with silver spoon.
Blacky's answer was that maybe she was to young to remember or that they shielded her from worst when she was little. Or simply (like new lottery winners) as soon as she had money, she forgot her previous life.

I think he was in love with her, he was just afraid to show it you know, always stealing glances at her and since she's acted so terrible to him, he probably tried to repress it or something :SSSSS and when she was hurt, he realised he loved her <3

It is interesting , but somehow it is tiring and makes me fall asleep after 3-4 chapters , not in a bad way , I really don't know how to explain it.
I will start watching in an hour or so , all 4 :D:D
