I'm at that same spot (9%). Downloaded the audiobook to listen on the way home from work and just had to re-read that portion. (view spoiler)[What I got from it is that he doesn't really believe in what he is doing anymore. That's why he couldn't accept the promotion either. Actually it's not because it's from Audiobooks and I was listening to the free version. Some of the people who read are great, but then some are not. The lady reading the last chapter wasn't that great (read too slow, didn't stop in the right places, and my mind just veered off). That's why I had to re-read it!

And forgot to say (end of Chap 3)- (view spoiler)[I was starting to like Mr. Lennox. I know he's not who Margaret ultimately ends up with but you could really feel his affections for her when he went to see her at Helstone. And felt a bit bad that Margaret turned him down, even if he did act like an ass afterwards. I didn't fault him for that though because his pride had to have been shot. (hide spoiler)]

And I think he's been feeling so conflicted that he's just...almost broken (not sure if that's the right wording to use). Plus whatever it is that is going on with her brother (the son, the heir) has to be weighing down on him as well. Don't quite understand what's going on with Frederick's situation but I'm sure we'll learn more. I don't really get her mother. So far it's almost as if she's unsatisfied/disappointed with her life and the way it's worked out so far. So she's just depressed. Those are just my impressions at least. (hide spoiler)]

It picked up for me in Chapter 3. Finally started getting the hang of the rhythm & language of it. You can do it, Karen. Just power through!
