Watcha Doing? Version 2015.5

Enjoy!

Every time I start pulling stuff out of the huge, stinky pile (I have two boys)- I think, "Oh, there's that set of sheets, towels, shirts, etc."

Sorry Bella!

It's true, despite all the ironing I am getting ready to do!

Oh, Sandra... my thoughts are with you

Yeah we do 10-15 loads a week here. Probably more in the winter as there are more clothes worn daily and less in summer with less and lighter clothing

Before we got started Saturday morning the company we had transport our canoe for us gave us an overview of what to expect. Supposedly 2 miles into the trip should have been the first big set of falls (Deadman's Curve) and there should have been signs alerting us that it was ahead and to keep to the right. Well, they lied. Maybe 20/30 minutes in to the float we came to a set of falls that we later learned actually was Deadman's Curve. We went left. We hit a rock. We flipped. :( I have several small scrapes and bruises on my right shin, a big scrape and bruise about 6 inches long and 3 inches wide on my left thigh, and a golf ball size bruise on my hip. Plus various other bruises and sore muscles.
Since we did not know that was actually Deadman's Curve, I thought there was a much worse area ahead of us and was freaking out a little bit. I actually felt like I was on the verge of a panic attack for a good part of the day. If we ever go again I think I will enjoy it much more since I know what to expect now. The unknown and anticipation of a really bad drop/curve that never came had me in the wrong mindset to really enjoy our trip.

@Amanda, I'm very sorry to hear about your grandmother. But, congrats on the new job! How do you feel about going back to your childhood home to live/work?
@TJ, triple the cuteness in that picture!

Condolences, Sarah, for your loss. My heart goes out to you, Amanda, about your grandmother going into hospice care.
Kandice, hope you all enjoyed the awards night. That's awesome!

A new job for Amanda and going back home - super.
Sorry about your grandmother.
Sarah - sorry for your loss.
KimeyDiane - wow - I have never gone canoing anywhere with falls! Hope your bruises heal quickly.
TJ - the three boys are so cute in their Oshkoss denims.
Peggy - glad to hear your storm is over. We had a damp weekend here. Cooled things off.
Kandice - congratulations on your son's award.
Travis - how was Ant Man? My grandson and daughter went to see it last night, but I have not talked to them today.
Caitlin - you work at two museums?
LOL, I am not going to talk about laundry or having to buy new cloths for kids. That is all I hear from my daughters.

I had hyper-insulinemia during my last 3 pregnancies, which means I clean the sugar in my blood too efficiently because I segregate a lot more insulin than necessary. The thing is that this means my pancreas works more than it should and it would eventually wear out and develop a diabetes. A hyper insulenemia not treated becomes a diabetes in 10 or 15 years.
It seems I don't suffer it when I'm not pregnant, but I never had a blood work done to confirm this. (I had 3 babies in 4 years, who has time to do blood work???).
The thing is that my father was diagnosed with diabetes type II a year ago, and this absolutely changes my panorama. I didn't have until this moment any other relative with diabetes. Now I have a direct family antecedent.
SO I'll be doing the blood work soon to finally know my actual situation. So far I have reduced drastically the amount of carbohydrates I consume, and I'm trying to slowly introduce physical activity to my life. At least I'm weighting 135 pounds, and a correct weight is a very important part of the treatment.
I'm not scared, but I admit I'm a little worried, since I'm only 36, and I feel that even taking care of my health, I have so many years still to live (the women in my family all usually reach their nineties) that eventually I'll develop the disease.

My appointment is only in October. This is suppose to be a very good doctor I was recommended, and I decide to wait (this stupid amount of time) to consult him.

I agree with the others. I believe we have a thread somewhere in here on Diabetes books and recipes. I should revisit it actually and add in a few more tips and resources I've discovered this year (Lexx is a T1 Diabetic).

@Rusalka, I didn't know about Lexx being diabetic. I'll see if I can find the thread. Thank you for the tip.

Congrats on the job Amanda. Sorry to hear about your grandmother. My Grand Aunt had a stroke last week and it was pretty bad. I think she was 85-ish. Unfortunately she got a chest infection and died a couple days ago. Even though I knew it was coming, it's still sad.
I hope you enjoy Blur Rusalka. They were on the radio earlier and I did wonder when the gig was coming up for you and now I know!
Love the picture TJ. Very cute.
We must have some of that stormy weather you're getting Peggy. Friday was awful here, raining really heavily. Yesterday was back to summery weather and then today it's really windy and raining heavy again. We've even had to light the woodburner as it's a bit chilly in the boat. But that's mainly because we've had to have all the windows and doors open to air the boat because we painted the inside of the hull with extremely smelly bitumen paint.
