I'm with you Peggy. I can't comment on the sport stuff either. I only do football during the world cup. I don't understand the rules of rugby. I like watching the Olympics and Wimbledon when it's on but that's it. I have no tv now though so I only see it at the pub when I go or at someone else's house. Glad you had a good time at your reunion Peggy.
I'm having an easier weekend this weekend as I'm still recovering from a cold and things have been way too manic of late. Feels good to just chill out.
It's been a long week. This is my first day off, and I'll be back at it tomorrow. We're really hoping to wrap up our remodel this week; our software guys are leaving Tuesday morning. So, today is all about groceries, cleaning, and cooking. I really just want to curl up with a book!
Rusalka wrote: "Travis of NNY wrote: "Problem is some of the announcers are so heavy accented that if your just a kid from upstate NY trying to learn rules just by watching and listening some gets lost in translat..."I enjoy watching baseball, hockey and soccer but the chattering announcers give me a headache with their inane commentary. I usually turn the sound off and use the closed captioning.
What you have to love people smart enough to get paid for making such profound statements as "well I know this for certain the team with the most points when time runs out will win this one". And "one team will be victorious and the other will suffer defeat. Which will it be. Stay tuned to find out."
My husband and I took our 3 nieces (16, 12, 10) out Saturday night to this place called House of Bounce. They have all of these big inflatable bouncy houses, laser tag, mini golf, and an arcade indoors. And even the adults get to jump! It was so much fun playing in the bouncy houses and being a kid! :D
Sounds fun, Kimey! I'd love to bounce again in a inflatable again. Last time was around 25 years ago!
Funny, we were just talking about that the other day, I think the last time I bounced in one of those was a few years ago, it was fun even as an adult :-)
It was a blast Sandra and Berit. If there is a place like that near where you live, I highly recommend checking it out! :)
I have a second auditor coming today to hopefully close out the project that was being audited a couple of months ago. Supposedly he is just looking at our cost and isn't getting into the fine details like the first auditor was. I'm still nervous though. Hopefully it goes okay!
Thanks, Sandra. I think this audit is going to be worse than the first. He's asking a LOT of questions. :S
There was a site put up a few days ago to pair people up for fight club matches. It was some college kids and when the site went on it was announced that the whole thing was a hoax. The first rule of fight club is you don't talk about fight club. They broke the rule announcing the site. So is it a hoax or is it secretly still running and following the rules. Rule 1 you don't talk about fight club Rule 2 You DON'T talk about fight club. I think it was a hoax calling it a hoax and it is still up
I got all upset last night. I got home last night from work and logged on to GR as I was going to update my pages read on my current book and I couldn't find my kindle. I remembered having it last on the train on my way home from work. I had the case but no kindle. So I assumed I'd left it on the train. Once I'd resigned to the fact I'd been an idiot and lost my most prized possession I remembered I'd got it out of my bag earlier to plug in to charge. What a relief!
Travis, what a mess...Sarah, these kind of confusions are happening to me more often lately! It is a relief you found it.
It's like when I spend 30 minutes looking or my phone and I've been carrying it in my hand the whole time. I do this a lot
@ Sarah so glad you found your Kindle that would be so very sad day to lose it.I went to download my new book onto my kobo last night and it got an error and wouldn't come over. I had to do a whole factory reset but I spent more then two hours messing with it. By the time I got it over I was so frustrated I didn't end up reading. Sometimes electronics really are frustrating
Sarah, I feel your pain. I left the driver side car door open a couple of nights ago. Just completely forgot to close it. I noticed it open the next morning when I took the dogs out. Thankfully it was in my driveway but we did have a little rain that night.
I'm so glad your Kindle was safe and sound, Sarah. LOL Travis! That's like walking around looking for your glasses and they've been on your head the whole time. Sometimes those distracted moments can turn out to be funny. My ex was doing some work at my sister's and she told him to help himself to coffee because she'd just made a pot. He went into the kitchen - no pot of coffee in the coffee maker. He found it in the fridge.
So glad to hear these stories bc sometimes you think you're the only one and quite possibly losing your mind!
Indeed! I'm the one asking my kids to pass the wet clothes to the dryer, and it happens that I never put them in the washer to begin with. Or I set all the ingredients in the bread machine and forget to press "start".

Talking of children, how is your little one doing now Sandra? Has his fractured collar bone healed?
He is great, Lisa. Thanks for asking. He still has a bump in his collar bone, that is gonna be there for a while. It will correct itself whith the bone's growth. Other than that he is as good as new.
Is anyone else gearing up for the holidays, too? Cleaning, organizing, trying to get guest room/supplies in shape? I feel like as fast as I clean, the kids mess up.

Or, I put all the clothes in the washer and never hit "start." And yes, I have been known to search the house for my glasses while wearing them on a chain around my neck. And to panic because I can't find my phone anywhere, when it is sitting on the charger.

I'm thinking about it. Hehehe!
My dad is going to come and spend Christmas with me. There's only one bed in my apartment so I'm going to give it to him and I'll sleep on the couch. My brain is starting to list things - what to cook, what to do for entertainment, what needs to be cleaned or purchased. It may be a while before it gets past the stage of thinking though.

I put everything in the crockpot before work a couple of weeks ago and turned it on. My husband called when he went home for lunch and told me I forgot to plug it in!
The auditor is leaving! The process is still not over yet, but I have a feeling of relief that he is not going to be next door to my office anymore! LOL. He was actually a really nice guy and seems like he will be fair. (Plus he gave me book recommendations! LOL) I just hope the final determination works out in our favor.
KimeyDiann wrote: "I put everything in the crockpot before work a couple of weeks ago and turned it on. My husband called when he went home for lunch and told me I forgot to plug it in! "lol. I did the same thing last winter! I realized 2 hours later, so not so bad, though.
Still not thinking about christmas. That will happen around the 14th December I guess which is when I generally firm up my plans. I have found a nice white chocolate christmas pudding recipe which I'm going to try out but that's as close as I've got to thinking about it.I've done many stupid things like trying to put the kettle in the fridge or up on the shelf where the tea bags are kept, I've also tried to light the gas hob with a knife instead of the lighter thingy... so it's good to hear I'm not the only one!
Haven't thought much about the holidays since it will be just my husband and I :) we flew home in October for a visit. It is too expensive to fly anymore during the holidays.

Janice, hope you have a great Christmas with your dad. Mine is coming for a visit too, which he does every year. I'm just buried under laundry and clutter. I don't know how my kids find so much stuff to scatter all over the house.
I have done a little bit of Christmas shopping but apart from that, I haven't really thought about it yet. I think it's just going to be me and my parents this year. A nice, quiet Christmas.

I might have to see if I can find something similar as I really don't like regular Christmas pud.
Currently sitting in Costa with a salted caramel cappuccino and reading Naked In Death. Great way to start the weekend!
You should post it here. Do we have a recipe thread? If not, we should start one. Not that I cook. I have good intentions, but somehow they fizzle out.
I like the idea of a recipe thread. Over the years, I've got some ideas on here. So having a central place for them seems like a plan.

Sarah wrote: "I'll write the recipe out for you if you like Lisa."That would be great Sarah! Thank you!

Pfew! I didn't have much internet access/time the past 4 days and I missed so much! I was in Amsterdam for a visit to the Rijksmuseum and a Gary Clark Jr concert on Tuesday/Wednesday and at a work conference yesterday and today. I gave a presentation there and all presenters got a thank-you gift: a book voucher! Can't wait to spend it ;-)No Christmas stuff here yet. The only thing we did is decide which day we will go to my parents, and which day to my parents-in-law.
