Not sure how I missed this challenge but if you need backup players, I'd like to join.

Susan add them to your spreadsheet at your discretion. There's a thread for turning in finished tasks. I need to mark it so it's up top on this folder still.
Jacki got ya!

Sorry if this has been asked already....If you have a book that has different page counts on the editions (141p. vs 157p.), can we still use it as long as one edition on GR is at least 150p.?
Hey Jenne,Unfortunately, Nika has had to drop out of the challenge. Can team Beauty & The Beast have a backup player? Thanks :0)

I've got a pm out to one of our standby players.
Jenne I wanted to make sure I understand about what books can count for this challenge. If I read
, even though it doesn't meet the task or mini challenge requirement along with no bonus points, would I still be able to get the points for the page count?
Yes! Any book you read during the challenge will at least if nothing else get you page points so long as it meets the page minimum.
Is there a list of fairytales that are fair game to read? I've just started reading The Baker's Man and I've realized that it is a retelling of The Gingerbread Man. That isn't one of the fairytales assigned to the teams. Is it okay to read any fairytale?
It is and the "fairy tale measuring stick" I'm going by is:a) is it on a fairy tale listopia
b) has it been shelved at least 5 times as fairy tale, a retelling, modern fairy tale, or a specific fairy tale
c) if you read it and you know it's a fairy tale regardless of shelves or lists.
No to a) and b). Maybe I'm wrong about the book. A few people have shelved it as 'magical realism' and 'paranormal'. But it's so obvious to me that it's a fairytale retelling. I guess I'll be the first to tag it as such.
Thanks, Jenne.
Thanks, Jenne.
If it's one of those that's obvious you're good. Let's face it not everything is going to be shelved 100% accurate it's not possible.
Me again Jenne sorry lolDoes
have enough purple on it to use?or the other version of it
Also for people such as myself, Ezi & Kristin who do a lot of audios, what do we use for page count?
I'm sure you've probably answered this somewhere but my tiny brain got to page 3 and then it was mush
Thanks Shy I thought that would b the case, but some books will be for example kindle 300pgs ebook 200pgs and hardback 600pgs of the same book.
HHm I didnt think of that I guess since I just whatever one comes up first. Jenne I guess we need to know which version.
Lol V! Most don't differ that much! Either go with the first one that automatically pulls up or if you want use the one that falls in the middle. So if it was one for 350 pages, 376 pages, 406 pages roll with the 376 one.
I know y'all have heard me say it before but it's cheesy how they vary....
I'm one of those OCD people that makes sure the edition I'm reading is what's listed on my shelf lol.
I usually just pick the one that comes up 1st anyway but with using different editions for colours I was just wondering, that's great though thanks lovely :•)

My own personal practice is that I always go with the kindle version for page count. If no kindle version, then I go with the e-book page count. I rarely, rarely do the Mass Paperback or hardcover page count.
Since I am usually doing whispersync audios, I tend to have the kindle versions of books so that is my measuring stick.

Thanks Ezi, that's what I usually do, 9 times out of 10 I'm on the app so it only brings up 1 version anyway and you can't change the versions, so I'll just carry on as I was lol
the paperback or hardcover has the most pages kindle is the other quite often the other digital formats don't have page counts unfortunately.
So the rules say anthologies are cool as long as you read all the books in there...does that also count for series volumes? For example would this be okay? It's books 1-3 in the series, in one bundle....
Do books have to be started on the 17th or finished on the 17th to count. I'm pretty sure I know the answer, but wanted to double check. And thank you for all your hard work finding replacement players for the teams. I really appreciate everything you are doing for this challenge.
Just to be clear Jenne, any book started after 10 pm my time (12 your time) is eligible? Or do I actually have to wait until after midnight my time?
Thanks Leslie :)P you're good at 10pm your time :)
The challenge will officially start in (hopefully this link works)

Coolest Countdown Clock EVER!! lol
Jenne - I posted this in the mini-challenge thread but am re-posting in case you missed it there...Okay wow, I ended up with a bunch of questions once I started looking for books. Here goes.
1. Will this work for this week's mini challenge? Naming a specific decade is sort of a way of tracking time but if not that, it has a number (80) in the title, right?
2.Is that guitar yellow enough for the main task assignment (Beauty and the Beast)?
3. Do seasons in the title count as a method of telling time (as in Summer Desserts) as long as it's obvious the word is relating to the season (Fall could be problematic but Autumn could work)?
4. Will the word 'Last' be okay if it denotes the last of something? Since we okayed first, second, etc., I thought I'd see how far we could stretch things :-P
1. yep perfect :)2. yep
3. yes I'll take seasons but I agree fall would need to be meant as a season.
4. I'm gonna say no to last.
Sorry I didn't see your questions till now.

No problem! Thanks for getting back to me.
One more (well, for now). Is there enough of a moon for this to count? It's kind of hidden by the title.
And do sunsets count as pictures of suns? Like this one... (yes, that's two ?s, not one)
On the first one I can't see the moon but it looks like a star by the lighthouse on the bottom which would work.I can see the top edge of the sun on the second one so it'll work too :)
