30.2 Jonquil’s Takin’ It to the Streets
I chose to do Option 1 twice. I read two books set in places where I dreamed of going when I was a child, magic places. In the sixties, I was enthralled with the whole counterculture, though I was just a child. The whole milieu seemed like the adult world that I would be growing into. This was especially true in the more “legitimate” side of the counterculture, the universities, especially Harvard. Fortunately for me, when I was older I only got into mysticism and not into drugs.
So for Book 1 I read The Harvard Psychedelic Club by Don Lattin.
My other dreamland as a child in the ‘60’s was the outer space of Star Trek, boldly going where no man had gone before. When I began reading stories and books on my own, I gravitated to science fiction, particularly those stories set on space ships.
So for Book 2 I read Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey, set on various spaceships in deep space.
