I Just Finished Reading (or I'm Reading Next!)

Undead Pool was a great 12th book in the series, and the penultimate book of the urban fantasy Hollows series. Heavier on the romance than usual, but I like where it went. Feels like the series is beginning to wrap up with plots being tied up and relationships solidifying.
Not sure how I feel about Confessions, yet. The writing style is taking a bit to get used to, but the story is interesting so far.

I just read
by Courtney Milan. It's a virgin hero romance that has been recommended here before - but I'm going to mention it again because I loved it.
Seriously, the first thing I could think to say after reading it was "OMG the feels." It has great characters, it's smart, and, for a romance centering on the importance of chastity, it is surprisingly full of passion. Definite recommendation!

I just started this month's pick and am still chipping away at a Wise Man's Fear.

Life is good!! :)

I am now reading and finishing up Born of Furywhich is the newest installment of the Space Pirate action adventure romance series.

I'm currently reading the Nine Kingdoms books by Lynn Kurland. I'm currently on Dreamspinner, the last in the series. This series is in the realm of high fantasy (there are elves, dragons, magic, and mayhem) and has an endearing sweetness to it. I like to think of it as a mix of Dragon Lance with a heavy dose of Romance tossed in. There aren't really any sexy times, but there are tons of moments heavily laden with romantic poignancy.
If anyone gives them a whirl I would be interested in hearing what you think.

Currently I am reading 'Angelfall' by Susan Ee, which I am really enjoying so far. I also read 'The Gospel of Loki' by Joanne Harris not that long ago, and absolutely loved it.

For a YA series it's well done. The characters are cool, and common obnoxious tropes tend to either be avoided or turned a little on their head in interesting ways.
The first book was good, but I think I liked the second and third ones even better. I totally recommend people checking it out. Quite enjoyable. I've actually been a little bummed the last couple of days because I'm done with all the ones that are out and I miss the characters.

The Witch in the Almond Tree
(The Witch's Garden Series Book 1) by C. S. E. Cooney
Blend fairy tale (where the witch is the hero) and ghost story with a bit of Pratchettesque humor, throw in a generous dollop of smut and you have this beautiful little story. I devoured it in one sitting.
I'm eagerly awaiting the next story in the series. Highly recommended!

Thanks, this sounds delightful. :)

Highly recommend this or her other series for Dante Valentine. Both are available in a nice Omnibus addition so you don't have to scramble to get all the books.

Clipped Wings
Between the Cracks
Inked Armor
Cracks in the Armor
I've read this series by Helena Hunting and absolutely loved it! Smart. Sexy. Cheeky. Emotional. Dramatic. Dark. Erotic... Lots of ink... and steel!
"Clipped Wings" and "Inked Armour" are the full length novels.
The others offer a few chapters into the main characters (Hayden & Tenley) and couple of supporting characters (Chris & Sarah) . You don't need to read them to appreciate the novels but they did add some depth and perspective to them...

Below is my husband's review (I'm too lazy to write my own :P):
Awesome book. If I had to use one word... awesome. I'm not the type of person to pick up a book just because of a review on Amazon, however, this is exactly how I found myself buying this book. While looking for a new "space" book, this showed up in the recommendations. I read A review. One. I didn't want any spoilers so reading multiple reviews increases the chance. That review was so glowing... words dropped like "Space Opera" and "Immense Vision", that it actually made me a bit skeptical. I got the book anyway... hey, it has cool cover art :P
This book was great. It had action, scope, vision, all with a bit of noir, mixed up with a solar system sized problem. Quarter way through the book, I was telling my wife, "This NEEDS to be a movie". Half way through the book I said, "No, this needs to be a mini-series on cable". Three quarters of the way through I realized this needs to be a major motion picture with two sequels and made for HBO mini-series that would fill in the gaps between movies.
I loved this book, can you tell? I plan on picking up Caliban's War (book II in The Expanse) and then immediately jumping into book III, Abaddon's Gate.

Thanks for the update! I'm thrilled and a little scared. *fingers crossed*

I love your profile pic! I was so into that movie years ago, and still laugh like crazy when I watch it.

My mom used to love the Ogilvie books so I think I picked it up out of nostalgia for her, and it was just what I needed :)
Now I'm back in the fun pool with Ilona Andrews most recent Kate Daniels tale!

Alicia, (and anyone else on unlimited trials) here's some suggestions for a couple things I found there. If steampunk interests you, try Chasing the Star Garden or Shadows of Asphodel.
Looking for more of a traditional fantasy or adventure feel? try The Sentinel Mage or The Laurentine Spy.
And a fun space-adventure series (but not much romance focus) is James Alan Gardner's League of Peoples starting with Expendable.
Mostly middling good, not exceptional, but I enjoyed them all. I'm also fairly easy to please, though :)
