Angela Sunshine (angelasunshine) Ground Rules and Notes:
1. The Challenge begins at 12:00 A.M. local time on 1 January 2013 and ends at 11:59 P.M. local time on 31 March 2013; for a book to count for the challenge, it cannot be more than 1/2 read before 12:00 AM on 1 January 2013.
2. This Challenge is just for fun, so make sure you enjoy yourself and all the books you will be reading!
3. All books must be classified as Young Adult or Juvenile Fiction; unless specifically stated otherwise in a task. If you local library classifies the book you chose as juvenile-young adult, then the book may be included.
4. All books must be at least 100 pages long to count for any of the tasks.
5. Re-reads are NOT allowed unless it falls into one of the following categories: it is a book you never finished, it is a book you didn't like but want to give another chance. The goal is to try new things, not reread old ones, but if you think it fits or feel it's reasonable, it probably is; just ask. :)
6. Audio books and electronic books (unabridged), such as Kindle, all count for this Challenge. Page counts will be according to the GoodReads page count.
7. When reporting completion of tasks, please link the title and author if possible. Also include the number of pages for the first edition listed on Goodreads (as was done in the first challenge). The point-count Leaderboard will be updated as often as I am able or as necessary. If you find discrepancies in the point totals, please notify me. If you change a book to a different task, please notify me.

See the reading challenge #15 ideas and discussion for a sample post, if necessary. Hyperlinking the books through the "add book/author" feature is greatly appreciated.

Official Wild Things Section

1.5: Read a selection from our group bookshelf that you have not previously read. (http://www.goodreads.com/group/booksh...)
1.10: Read one of the group reads chosen during January, February, or March.
1.15: Read a book that fits Kellee’s monthly challenge for January, February or March. *Whichever month you choose, you cannot claim points PRIOR to that month beginning. So don’t read/claim a book that works for March early in January!* http://www.goodreads.com/topic/group_...
1.20: Read a 4- or 5-star book from a WT member you've never conversed with. There are nearly 2,000 of us; click members in the upper right-hand menu to browse for someone you don’t know. If the book you choose has an existing thread, add to the discussion. If it does not yet have a thread, begin a thread and discuss it. The book must be one you’ve never read before. Posting in a thread about the book is required to get the points for this task, also the name of the member is required.
1.25: Read 2 books that have previously been nominated for our group reads but were not selected. If the books have existing threads, discuss them. If they do not yet have threads, begin threads and discuss them. Posting is required to get the points for this task.

“What’s in a Name” section

2.5: Read a book with a first or last name in the title. (Example: Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh)
2.10: Read a book with a verb in the title. (Example: The Running Dream)
2.15: Read a book with a character that has the same first or last name as someone in your household, yourself included. A different spelling of the same name is acceptable.
2.20: Read a book with a word or phrase that repeats in the title. (Example: Love You Hate You Miss You)
2.25: Read 2 books by the same author, or by 2 different authors with a common name. (Example: Carrie Jones and Carrie Ryan, or Carrie Ryan and Patrick Ryan)

“Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner” section
Note: All books must be award winners or honor award winners, as required in the tasks. Being on a booklist is not considered an award win for this challenge. Also, all books must be YA or MG to count. Here's a link to some info about book awards http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...

3.5: Read a past or current winner or honor book for any award. Please state which award and year when posting.
3.10: Read any winner or honor book by an author who has been nominated more than once. Please state which 2 years the author has been nominated.
3.15: Read one of the 2012 Goodreads Choice Awards nominees or winners. http://www.goodreads.com/choiceawards...
3.20: Read both the winner and a nominated book for the same award from the same year. Please state which award and year when posting.
3.25: Read the 2012 winners of two different awards, excluding state awards. Please state awards when posting.

“Tis the Season” section

4.5: Read a book published in 2012 that has an average rating of 4.0 or higher on Goodreads.
4.10: Read a book that was originally published in the month of January, February or March of any year. You must include the original publication month and year when posting.
4.15: In honor New Year’s Day, read a book that relates to one of your resolutions for 2013. Explain how it relates in your post. (Example: Your resolution is to diet, so you could read Wintergirls, which is about eating disorders. Example: You resolve to exercise more, so you could read Rebound, which is about playing basketball.)
4.20: In honor of Valentine’s Day, read a book with the word “heart”, “love” or “kiss” in the title. Plurals of the words are acceptable but other variations are not… (Example: “Loves” is acceptable but “Lover” or “Lovely” are not)
4.25: In honor of Spring, read 2 books with one of the following on the cover: flowers, birds, blue skies, or baby animals. You must link the books’ covers when posting.

50 point task
Note:All four tasks must be completed before points will be awarded.

a: Read any book from the Wild Things Top YA Novels List (http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/1...)
b: Read a book that has a compound word in the title. (Example: "Countdown" [count+down] and "Breadcrumbs” [bread+crumbs])
c: Read an Alex award winner and discuss whether you agree that both kids and adults would enjoy it. *Books classified as "Adult" are acceptable for this task.* Here's a link to the winners: http://www.cityofportsmouth.com/libra...
d: In honor of St. Patrick's Day, read a book that involves mythical beings. (Example: leprechauns, faeries, dragons, unicorns, centaurs)
