I just finished this book, after multiple recommendations and high praise. Maybe too much build-up?

I thought it was good, but not great. (view spoiler)[Some things were too wacky, like bringing a rat to school, to be believable for me. However, I very much appreciated a realistic ending of Stargirl and Leo losing touch rather than a "happily ever after". (hide spoiler)] I don't know, it was a little too over the top for me.

Oh, I'm sorry it didn't live up to the hype for you. I love this book. I felt that it really captured the idea of popular isn't always the best and don't judge a book by its cover and so on :) I liked the sequel as well.
