*I lean back and begin to eat more, enjoying the food. I sip the Dr. Pepper then set it down and look at you* Can we go see the planet now? I can't eat anymore... *I look worried*
Is it normal for me not to be able to eat as much? It's kind of scary...*I look at the bread bowl with still half full of soup and almost a full of can of soda*
well, you've been on a feeding tube and glucose for 4 years. You'll have to eat a lot of very small meals for a while. Your feeding tube hadn't even been withdrawn this morning. The ship's systems must have read you waking while I was working...We'll carry a high calorie drink for a while.Now you shouldn't walk too far but if you want to look at the world where we live...and you don't mind wearing your hospital gown, we can look outside.
*I look down at my hospital gown* It's not even a nice color. *I make a face then giggle and stand up. Tor moves to my side and I slip easily onto his back* Tor will carry me, Mike no problem. I want to go see.
No need for Tor to carry you...* Mike sweeps her up* It's been while...* Mike speaks gently** Outside the ship there is a large clearing. In it set far, far apart are there prefabricated buildings. Attached to one of these is a log structure. This looks to be well built and has a window on either side of a wood door.
There are three fields two and half of them are plowed as if for planting. Several horses wander in a grassy field off to the right. A small river (or large creek) runs not to far to what might be the west (If the sun is to be considered to travel east to west across the southern sky as on Earth). Around the cleared area there are woods. Thicker to the north and south the trees being more sparse to the east. In the distance blue mountains rise into the sky. Birds fly and sing too distant to make out if they are from Earth or not. As Lacy watches a heard of large animals graze out of the light woods to the east and a few deer run out of the trees to their south, only to stop look around and run back into the woods.
The air is clean and fresh and it has what feels like the slight chill of early spring on Earth. She feels lighter and remembers Mike told her the planet was somewhat smaller than Earth with lower gravity and an atmosphere richer in oxygen.
A slight breeze ruffles her hair and the gown she wears as Mike holds her.*
*I close my eyes as the gentle breeze brushes over us, smiling and taking in a deep breath of the rich scents. I open my eyes and lea my head against your shoulder* It's even more beautiful than in my dreams. How did you ever stumble up on this planet?
* Mike laughs, the first time since she woke* I was running from an overwhelmingly more powerful ship some years ago. I'd been involved in a Brown Coats situation and was...well let's say I was helping certain people leave the scene of action in an unauthorized manner and the...powers that be were not happy. Anyway I'd dropped off my passengers and thought I was in the clear when I...ummm, ran afoul of a few Central Powers battle ships. My ship was hit and thrown way off course. I ran into the nebula you'll see tonight when the sun sets to hide and fix the ship. Behind it and in a completely dead sensor spot I found this little system. As far as I know I'm the only who knows about it.
*I smile* That's my Mike...running from someone to help others. *I giggle but it fades and I look down.* Do we have to run anymore? What happened to the overlords?
As far as I know they're dead...or at least gone. Riddick is back to his death worshiper problems, the Rangers haven't had him contact me, the Federation has pulled back and I gather their involved in trying to close the cracks or gates or whatever they are that let all the universes bleed together.* Mike kisses her softly for a long time. *
And we live here with our animals and each other and as far as I'm concerned it can stay that way for a long, long time.
*I lift my eyes and smile at you* You won't get tired of me? You won't get bored of me?
* Mike looks at her for a few seconds*I just spent 4 years waiting for you to wake up, you think I'll get bored now????? No, we need to get you healthy.
* He kisses her again *
Nope, not boring.
*I smile then wrap my arms around you and kisses you deeply*
* The kiss goes on several minutes * Careful, you're probably still weak.....
I don't care...I have missed you so much, Mike...I tried so hard to get back to you. Once I realized the world I was in wasn't real, I looked for a door..anything...to get back to you. I don't ever want to go into a coma again...I don't ever want to leave you again.
* Mike carries her back inside and to there room * I don't want that either...so we go slow and we take care of you.
* Mike undresses her and carries her to the bath where he runs water into the tub, sets her down in the tub and then turns the shower on warm. Her begins to wash her, in spite of her laughing argument that she can bathe herself. *
Like I said, we take care of you...
*I cup my hands and squirt the water at you giggling then gently, playfully slapping at your hands* Mike, let me take my own shower...
Don't be selfish...I need a shower to.* Mike sighs theatrically*
Okay, if you insist...but I'm staying right over here. Take care, don't fall or anything.
*I squeal and grab your hand* nooooo don't leave me!
Okay...I won't shhhhh, I love you you know. * Mike joins her and they sit under the flowing water just resting.*
*I rest my head against your shoulder, allowing the water to just run over my body. I try to move my wings again then remember that I don't have any and stop, looking down*
I'm sorry about that. You lost them in the fight. It was all I could do to keep you alive. I suspect without the healing mutation you might not have made it. Just remember, you're not your wings. If I could I'd kiss it and make it better, but that doesn't work on some things.* He pulls her close *
*I sigh heavily* I guess I'll just have to get use to walking everywhere....I'm going to miss my wings. Now I won't be able to fly us out of any dangerous situation.
We'll just have to stay out of dangerous situations from now on. Besides, once you get your strength back you'll be able to jump a long way here. The gravity is only like four fifths what it is on Earth. It's a good thing the atmosphere is so oxygen rich. It's much thinner than we're used to.
*I look up at you* Do you think my wings will ever grow back?
I don't know. It's been four years and the wounds have healed. Still who knows with what happened. They may regenerate they may not. I only developed...more of what I had so to speak, nothing like your wings. Still, we've got time. Take things slow, give yourself time.Maybe we can just be...people for a while.
*I nod* That would be nice...just be us together away from the other worlds. *I slowly stand up and turn to face you* I'm ready to live my life with you here.
I've been ready....* Music comes up scene fades*

*A few hours later, I lay in a robe on our bed* When can we go hiking? Are there horses? Can we go horse back riding? I hear there are Pegasus somewhere...can we get a couple?(Yep works for me lol)
I've not seen any winged horses...though the computers are still up. We can do a search and if anything like winged horses are on some other world we can make a trip and bring some back. For now, yes I brought horses here and several are good with saddles. Most depends on how strong you are. Yes we can go riding...but I need to finish the plowing if we're going to have crops. Of course we can eat in the ship. I just like to grow things.
By the way...we have a house if you don't want to live here on the ship.
*My eyes widen and light up* We do? I want to go see it. *I slip off the bed and stumble to you, falling into your arms* oops
Still a little weak. Okay first you have some more soup and something to drink, then we get you dressed and then we go over to the house. I haven't been living there yet but it's ready. We can make most of what we need here with the ship.
*I nod and allow you to help me to walk back to the mess hall where the soup still sat hot and ready to eat, the ship having kept it warm and my drink cold.* Well hoe nice of the ship...I wonder if it has it own intelligence. *I look at you and smile and sit down, sipping at the soup slowly*
There's an AI, not sure how much reason it actually has. Would you like something else. That bread bowl will be a little soggy by now * Mike chuckles a little and moves to get himself something *
*I shake my head and sip the soup, munching on some of the soggy bread with a smile* This is fine. Feels weird eating though. But I also glad to be awake, with you. *I smile at I you as I sip my soda* You'll have to tell Riddick soon...I know he is a worry wort.
He'll call in soon. He's been touching base about every two weeks. Last time he was on the trail of some other Death Cult leader...
Not surprised...he can't sit still for too long. *I eat the rest of my soup and bread bowl and drink the rest of my soda*
* Lacy works over the next couple of days to get her strength back. They horseback ride, do some limited hiking and so on. Mike gets a crop of Oats in mostly for the horses and they plant some mixed vegetables. A few days into this time that seems like a vacation Riddick finally calls in and is happy to hear Lacy has awakened and asks to speak to her. *
*I smile as I sit in a chair to talk to Riddick* Hi Riddick....I hope you are staying out of trouble. I'm sorry that I scared you and slipped into a coma like that.
* Mike busies himself with work around the ship and house as Lacy talks with Riddick. They are mostly living in the prefab building that Mike had added the log addition to now. They have made furniture from wood using tools from the ship to shape the wood and then make springs, covers and stuffing. *
*I sigh happily* Riddick this place is beautiful and I am so happy here with Mike. I hope that you can finally find someone and settle down. No more chasing bad people unless she likes it too. * I giggle* Maybe some time soon we can meet up and go see the Doctor on his planet. But for now Mike and I stay here. This planet is wonderful. I just hope no one finds it. *I close my eyes* I'm getting stronger...yes and Mike is making sure that I take it easy and eat plenty to gain back my strength. I'll be strong enough soon. But I lost my wings.... *I open my eyes with tears in them and look down at my hands. Riddick sighs heavily as he listens and tells me that everything will be okay*
* Mike stops outside the door as she mentions her wings knowing how the loss has effected her. He sits down in the galley so he can be there when she finishes her conversation with Riddick.*
*I say goodbye to Riddick and tell him to be careful. I hang up with him and step out of the communications room, brushing back my now long hair. I look around then decide to head for a snack. I enter but don't see you at once. I grab a bowl full of caramel filled Dove candy pieces* Yummm
* Mike joins her, and laughs at her choice, then he squeezes her. He sits with his burger and fries to talk. *
*I make a face then stick my tongue out at you before I bite into a piece of candy, my eyes closing in delight* mmmmm...* I eat the rest the look at you and giggle with some caramel sticking to my lips*
* Mike accepts the invitation and then joins in the laughter* Well one thing about a high metabolism is that you can eat about what you want...at least for a while... *Mike laughs again*So what now? Back to work...or would you like to go to the falls and swim? We could take a picnic with us.
*I smile* I think a picnic and a swim would be great. I think that we should take a break from working. *I eat another piece before I look at you* You heard me didn't you? When I was talking to Riddick.
Some...I was in and out. * Mike squeezes her hand and smiles at her. *
