*I look at you and gently touch your cheek, kissing your cheek* Hang in there. I'm going over there now and going to fight fire with fire. *Before you can stop me, I rush out of the control room and rush to get into the airlock and to the other side before you could do anything*
I wish she wouldn't do stuff like that...she's... never been .....the .....hand to hand .....type.* To the Ranger* Get a channel open to Riddick.... or one of the others and..... tell them to get her out before they ......blow the place.
*The Ranger nods and quickly gets Riddick on the communicator. I rush onto the Death Star and look around, my nails extending to claws as I rush to where I knew to get to the other level. A few storm troopers rush out towards me. I hiss and launch myself at them, my wings spreading to give me more force as I runs into them, the first two getting the impact from my claws, my claws having no problems cutting into their suits. I finish with the storm troopers and rush up to the next level. I rush past Riddick and the others around the corner and attacked the Emperor, hissing and clawing at the old man, forcing him to stop using his mind against your shield and to attack me*
Okay...pressure's off. I think I can hold it and handle an armored shuttle. I'll head over there. Even if the fighting's over when I get there I can help pull them out before it blows. Keep you're shield's up and knock out ships that get too close.
*I slam against the wall, yelping when I hit but instantly fly back at the Emperor, slamming him with my mind and my body. I jump out of the way, grabbing my arm and crying out when he hits my arm with lightning*
* Mike lands in the bay after blasting his way past the force field. Walking through the Space Station and following the direction of the place he's shielding he can tell that both his attacker's attention is elsewhere. The occasional attacker pops out but they're no big problem. He finally arrives at the control room. Superman and Thor are still slugging it out with Doomsday, Black Widow and Hawkeye are in a continual battle with storm-troopers and other baddies including a few other super-villains, they stand over an unconscious Batman. Ironman and Captain America are in a slugging match with Doom...and Lacy is just recovering from a force attack by the Emperor.*
*I lift my head slowly, glaring back at the Emperor, my forest green cat eyes swirling angrily. I snarl at him which actually makes the Emperor take a step back. I snap my hand up and yell, sending the Emperor spiraling backwards with a sudden sharp wind, hurling him into Doom and Vader.*
* Mike adds his fire power to the fray and talks to Black Widow...the charge at the core is ready, now we just have to get out. Soon most of the enemy is down aside from a group of super villains...we can probably hold them off. Riddick (a bit the worse for wear as we all are) turns along with all of us except the ones holding the SVs off to help take down or at least drive off Vader and the Emperor.*
*I glance around and see a giant cage like compartment behind me. I turn to look at the others then with my mind, pick it up, and throw it at Vader and the Emperor, making sure that both go into the mouth of the cage, slamming it hard against the wall to trap the two. I collapse groaning when the Emperor throws his lightning at me after the cage pins him*
* Mike picks Lacy up and carefully drapes her over his shoulder so he can still use his gun...the others back out of the room firing as we go, Superman and Thor leading the way to take out anyone or anything that tries to block us....Doomsday, The Emperor and Vader are all still alive and will probably break out soon. We smash through bulkheads, locked doors and floors to arrive at the bay in minutes. Seconds later all of us but Superman and Thor are in ships (as those two don't need ships) and blasting our way out of the bay. We send out a warning to pull back but then Black Widow triggers the blast almost immediately.The Space Station blows pieces, parts, debris, fire and radiation blast past us and the battling fleets. Some ships are hit...our shuttles while taking some minor hits and getting singed make it back to our starting points...including us. Lacy, Mike and Riddick land back in our shuttle bay. *
*I whimper when I hit the ground, one of my wings nearly ripped off from the blast. I lay crumbled on the ground next to you, hardly moving, the Emperor's last hit having hit me right in the heart*
* Mike carries Lacy to the sick bay and gets her quickly onto life support. The ship rocks as another blast goes off nearby, the battle still going on. Riddick nods and runs to the control room to help the Ranger. Mike adjusts the sickbay controls to put Lacy on complete life support and then sets the computer to get a full readout of the damage. *
*My breathing is shallow, the computer telling you that my heart was slowing down from the hit, my heart beat irregular*
*The ship's sickbay takes over and keeps the heart beating and also begins supplementing respiration. The damaged wing is mangled badly. The ship has stopped the bleeding from the lost wing and begins to evaluate if the other can be saved. *
*I cough a little as my heart is being pumped by the ship and my eyes slowly flutter open. I see you and smile sadly before I slip back unconscious.*
* Mike tiredly sits down near the bed and waits for the computer to complete it's read outs and while the sickbay treats her. He checks but the battle is still on. He goes to the control room and relieves the ranger. She's a medical officer and Lacy needs her. Mike and Riddick continue to fight the ship and drive off the enemy...Mike trying to keep his mind on the battle.*
*I suddenly appear beside you and look at the rest of the battling ships my eyes darting from one enemy to the next. I close my eyes and disappear, the ships that I looked at suddenly shaking violently then blowing up, leaving us and the other ships safe, only debris floating around from the enemy ships. The Ranger walks slowly back into the control room and gently touches your shoulder, looking very sad. She takes in a shaky breath and tells you that I have slipped into a coma.*
I believe it....* Mike goes back and takes his seat to wait and watch. *
*Year after year passed, and I hadn't woken up. During those years, my back healed, leaving only scars where my wings use to be. There were also a few close calls where the ship almost lost me for good, my heart trying to give out. In the fourth year, the computers begin to read more brain waves as I slowly begin to wake up*
*By now Riddick has returned to his life though he stays in touch through subspace radio. The Ranger has returned to service with the Rangers. Because of their actions during the battle Mike and Lacy were allowed to keep the ship they'd reclaimed from the conspirators. Mike spent the next year after this transporting supplies and animals to the small planet he'd found years before. Then he landed the ship there.There were all that's needed to build on the world but because the ship's systems are supporting Lacy Mike uses the ship itself as a primary residence. The animals are free to come and go. Tor spends most of his time in sickbay. The other animals have bread and it turns out that the alien dog and cat were close enough to Earth animals to breed.
The day Lacy begins to stir Mike is nearby. He's somewhat different now as he's grown a beard and mustache. He now usually only carries two or three knives ans a hand gun suitable for hunting or driving off predators.
He's just inside the sickbay door dressed in a dark green shirt, black jeans and laced up boots. His hair a bit longer now as he thinks about it less, he's been plowing so he's a little unkempt and sweating... *
*My eyes open as if I had just been asleep for a few hours. My eyes roam over the ceiling above me, my eyes opening wide with fear and confusion as I don't recognize where I am at first. Recognition enters my eyes and I allow myself to relax the look around, wondering what had happened.* Mike? * my voice is quiet and weak from not having used it in the past four years, my throat a little dry as well*
* Mike looks surprised at first, a series of expressions cross his face and then smiles and seems to let out a breath. He gets a cup of water and brings it to her as Tor begins to lick her face. Mike kisses her forehead and helps her rise up a little to drink.he and the ship had kept moving her and working her muscles over the last years, but she'd still be weak.*
*I sip the water but nearly choke on it, coughing and turning my head away from the cup.*
take it slow... Your throat will be very dry, just sip. I've kept you hydrated but you need some water down you.* Mike thinks a second as he urges Lacy to drink*
Here finish this and I'll get you a Dr. Pepper...
*I sip the water slowly, my eyes never leaving your face as I look at the changes. I finish the water after a few minutes, then lay back, my hand weakly reaching up and playing with the end of your beard*
* Mike smiles*Like it? Actually I need to get a shower, I'm a little sweaty.
How long..have I been asleep? *I let my hand drop down next to me on the bed* What happened?
You've been asleep a while. Don't worry, the war's pretty much over and now we'll just get your strength back. We've got a home to build here. We'll talk about how long it's been when you're stronger.* a group of half grown kittens run in just about then. Two are flying three look mostly just like Earth cats and two have wings that are a little too small to really lift them. They jump on Lacy's bed and begin to scamper all around her, licking and meowing and kneading their claws...*
*I giggle when I see the baby kittens, gently stroking their heads and backs* How cute! Are they from our cats? And wings? *my eyes suddenly widen as I sit up and try to move my own wings. Fear enter my eyes as I look at you*
Yeah, you lost them in that last battle with the Emperor. I was afraid you wouldn't heal at all for a while. You had to be on complete and total life support for some time. * Mike takes her in his arms and holds her to his chest..*
Sorry I'm so sweaty....I still love you hope you don't mind the sweat....
*I close my eyes and burry my head into your chest, softly crying, clinching at you with one hand, ignoring the sweat. My body shudders in sadness at the loss of my wings, tears spilling down my cheeks and drenching your shirt*
* Mike simply holds her*[Just wondered, do you play computer RPGs at all and did you ever play Baldur's Gate 2?]
*The tears finally stop and I sit back, my eyes red, my body still shaking a little.* I want to get off the ship...can we land on the planet? Please?(I use to but no never played that)
Uhhhh.....we're already on a planet, been here quite a while as a matter of fact. I kept you here because you needed the life support. The ship's power-plant will give us power for decades to come so you were safe here. I've got us a place ready though...of course I figure you'll want to redecorate.[One of the main NPC in Baldur's Gate 2 is a Winged Elf who lost her wings and has "trouble with it". Just wondered if you'd played the game.]
*I blink* We are on a planet? *I smile lightly* Your planet? I have been dreaming about your planet. I can't wait to see it in person. Will you take me now? *I slide of the bed and try to stand, my legs giving out on me, causing me to collapse* (Cool sounds like my kind of game)
* Mike catches her as she slips down having seen her start to stand. he helps her to sit on the edge of the bed.*We'll need to go a little slow, you'll be weak. You'll also have to start eating solid food again as your stomach won't be ready for it. How about as a first step we go to the galley and get you some soup and something else to drink...your Dr. Pepper would be good as you can use the sugar. Then we'll see how well you're getting around.
[Baldur's Gate 2 is my favorite game...but I'm having to buy new discs...] :)
*I nod and hold out my hand to you, gently taking yours and standing, letting my legs get use to my weight.* Okay...ready. Where is Riddick and the Ranger?(I'll have to check it out)
Well Riddick went back to what he was doing before we got involved in the whole intergalactic conspiracy war. The Ranger went back to the Rangers. Riddick calls in every few weeks on subspace radio and asks how you're doing. He'll be glad to hear you're....up and around. * Mike helps Lacy to a chair and gets her a large serving of Dr. Pepper. *
So what would you like, chicken soup, beef soup????
[It started out on like Windows 95 or 97 you can get on Amazon for like $11. Graphics aren't bad for the age though.]
Loaded bacon potato soup in a bread bowl! *I grab the side and take a sip, sighing happily. I look at you, serious again* How long?
* Mike takes his time getting the soup (making sure that there is a lot of broth in it) and then turns and sets it and a spoon in front of Lacy. Then he kneels and next to her chair and wraps her in his arms. *A little over four standard years....
Four...years...? *I blink back tears as I wrap my arms around you, holding you close, not wanting to let go. I gently slip out of the hug and look at you in the eyes* You stayed and waited for me?
* Mike smiles*You're surprised?
Truthfully, yes...I didn't think you would if I hadn't woken up...what if I hadn't woken up? Would have still stayed with me? Or would you have let me go?
*Mike looks a little bewildered* As long as you had brain activity...as long as you're alive...as long as YOU are in there, how could I not stay with you?
*I look down at my hands as I wring them together* But if I had never woken up...I wouldn't want you to have stayed with me. I would have wanted you to move on...it wouldn't have been fair for you to have your life consumed by taking care of me when I never woke up.
So why are you worrying over it? You woke up... Rather than worrying about what might have been or might not have been live what is.I came home...to the only home I have now and I brought you with me. Then waited and built.
I'm sorry...I know I need to be happier but it worries me still. But I am truly happy that I woke up. I was dreaming while I was asleep...or in a coma, I guess that's what it's called...I saw us traveling and on your planet. No threats or anything. It was beautiful...can we do that now? *I take the spoon and eat some soup.
As soon as your strong enough. We have a house, we'll just use the ship for power, communications and the sickbay of course. There's also enough food in the reconstituters for decades to come if it's only the two of us if we need it.I think you'll love it here. There are predators of course but most respond to my mind I figure they'll respond to you two. There's only a couple of species that seem to have a real aversion to humans. We need to watch out for those but mostly they steer clear of me so i figure they'll avoid you to.
One thing, nobody knows the coordinates of this world, not the Rangers not even Riddick. They can call us but if we don't give them the coordinates they can't find us...no one can except by accident.
*I smile lightly* I can't wait to see the planet. And the best part is I get to enjoy it with you. *I put the spoon down and lean in close, kissing you deeply*
