Introduce Yourself- part 2

I have read It, The Stand, Duma Key, Pet Sematary, Carrie, The Dark Half, and On Writing. Among these my favourite is It, The Stand being a second favourite. (Duma Key is pretty good too).
I'm new on goodreads and still learning how to use the site, but hope to have some good time here.
Let's keep the baloons floating :D

Interestingly I think Pet Cemetary is one of his best books and the best horror book I have ever read so I guess it would have been a pity had that not been published.

Welcome Priscilla. Good choices for a place to start.

Hi Priscilla! Another really good one is The Tommyknockers. Under the Dome was fantastic, have you watched any of the TV Series? I don't know if it has been released in the Netherlands or not, I watched the first season, the second season is starting up soon. It's been a while since I read the book so I'm not sure of the accuracy to the book but it is pretty good stand alone. I absolutely loved 11/22/63, so well done and somewhat different from a lot of his other work.

Welcome Vera. Yes, we have a lot to say about Mr. King and other writers of similar works. Also check out Neil Gamin, and Robert McCammon.

I'd say the series was pretty weak... certainly not as good as the book, but for people who hadn't read it, it might have been okay. Lots of changes were made to the story and the nature of the characters and that bothered a lot of us.

Welcome!

Wow Holli... I wouldn't tell this to too many people. The government may capture you for some kind of an experiment: "What happens to a young woman who grew up reading Stephen King from a very early age."

Matthew, you're a lucky guy to be starting off on that great adventure... reading all of King's works for the first time. Have a great time.

Sounds like a great collection... welcome.

Welcome Mel, I'm enjoying Mr. Mercedes at the moment too.

I've been a King fan for years. This is my first book group though, and I can't wait to have many Goodreads with few book worms
Thanks for adding me to your group.
Hello everyone, I'm Jessica!
Both my dad and my aunt are King's fans, and I have been surrounded by his books since I was born, more or less (this could explain a things or two regarding my personality, but nevermind).
The first novel I actually read was the Italian translation of "The Eyes of the Dragon", but in the last few years I have started to go methodically through his bibliography (and I've also switched to English, of course. Italian translations of King are a very unfortunate affair, believe me).
Nice to meet you all :)

Hey Jessica, welcome. I was thrilled when I was at the Venice airport and saw both the english and the italian translation of Under the Dome just a few weeks after the book was published. Didn't know they worked that fast.

Yes, King is actually very popular in Italy, so translators usually work really fast!

Please do get in touch if you'd like to chat about King's novels :-)

And others! Recently been getting into the works of Orwell and Huxley.
Generally a fan of classics, but always interested in new things if they take my interest.

The Stand - one of the most enjoyable things i've read. Although Pet Sematary and Salem's Lot (plus others..) are also damn great reads.

I prefer the novels too, although I did read a lot of the short stories. Mt favorite is Wizard and Glass and several other Dark Tower books. Also like Salam's Lot, The Stand, 11/22/63, Joyland, Duma Key, Bag of Bones.

@Nick- you should definitely publish!"
Thanks Malina, I'm working on it. I wrote my response to Mike before I read yours BTW. Joe Hill is the perfect writer for him. Great minds...
