Okay, I've been hearing about NetGalley on reviews and everywhere...what exactly is it? Do you get free books in exchange for honest reviews, or do you have to pay?

It's a site where you can request to read books before they available. You fill out a profile to persuade publishers to accept your requests. It's geared toward professional reviewers, bloggists, etc. But if you let them know that you are on goodreads or any other vehicle that reaches a good amount of people and your review books, they may accept your requests. So far every requests I've sent in has been accepted. If you sign up for their newsletter they sometimes send you books that are available to download without having to send in a request.

Okay, so I did a little research about NetGalley. The only problem I have with it is that it only deals in eBooks. I don't have an eReader. Does anybody know anything about BookSneeze?

If you can afford it, get an iPad instead of an ereader...it gives you access to Kindle, Nook, and iBooks at once, as well as tens of thousands of free books. And the Goodreads site... If you wait for clearances, it's fairly reasonable. I got mine, a third generation, a few months ago...now they're several hundred dollars less than original price at places like Micro Center and Fry's.
And I can do instant research for writing without powering up my 12 year old SLOW laptop!

Beauty is one of my all-time favorite books :)

Alice, I will definitely share my thoughts on Beauty, I am really looking forward to it! :)

I have read this book and the first in the series "The Orphan King" I really enjoyed both of them! Though I think that "The Orphan King" was a bit more exciting than this one they were both very good! Hope you enjoy it! :)

"The Red Cockade" by Stanley Weyman (1896 edition)
"Love Thrives in War" by Mary Catherine Crowley (1903, first Ed.)
"Out of the Silences" by Mary E Waller (1918, first Ed.)
"Sandy" by S. R. Crockett (1914 edition)
And the neatest of all, "A Soldier of the Legion" by C.N. and A.M. Williamson, actually inscribed by author Alice Williamson for an acquaintance!
And I got free shipping and paid less for these and the other two that are coming than I would pay for two new books!

Bought:

In my defense all the zebras were 1.50each,Cinder and the 2 Heyer Mysteries were half off.
I like that Nicole! Of course I would ;) you know what's coming... Let me know which of the zebra regencies are best and the Klassen. I have that one to read soon!
I bought 12 books from Amazon this morning...its official..I have CBBD... Compulsive book buying disorder :P

Don't worry you are not alone. So do I.I just bought

Should we have an official support group for that, in which we put our heads together and try to plan new pays to pay for them and fit them in our houses? :)
When I go away this summer, I'm purposely going to try not to take books with me so I have an excuse to buy more. Isn't that wicked??
The Complete Sherlock Holmes!
