Know what you mean about the exported sheet looking messy; and if I remember right it exports everything; like you can't pick and choose. Your TBR is color coded and everything? I'd love to see how you set it up!

message 211: by Karen (last edited May 21, 2009 07:27AM) (new)

Karen (karenvwrites) | 112 comments I am trying not to buy any more books until I read what I have. Books are a wekness though and I succumb easily to temptation.

message 212: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Oh, well, umm... I have been buying books. I'm weak. It's bad. I feel like I've let everyone down! But I'll recover, as I have all of these lovely new books to read to cheer me up!

message 213: by Liz (new)

Liz Yeah, but look at how many books a month you're reading! It's okay. What books did you get?

message 215: by Kandice (new)

Kandice A lot of those are must haves, so don't feel bad. I am your support group!

message 216: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) oooo, the Batimaeus trilogy! I want to read those too, luckily the library has them.

message 217: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) They are necessities. Yes they are. :)

message 218: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah I thought about buying them anyway :P the used bookstore only has the first one though...stupid place hardly ever has a full series.

message 219: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Oh I haven't read the Bart trilogy... I was just saying that books in general are a necessity. :)

message 220: by Liz (new)

Liz I agree with Kandice! I think these are all justifiable purchases. Well done :)

Claire (proud-mum) | 3949 comments I'm currently reading Labyrinth, its soooo time-consuming and you need to concentrate really well! Obviously yours is an audio book so amy be easier.

The Twilight series is really good (well the two I have read so far anyways!) and I read them really quickly.

message 226: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) yeah Becky...I'm already looking forward to reading your review of Twilight :P

message 227: by Kandice (new)

Kandice Me too. I LIVE for Becky's reviews. They make my day:) Bet she hates them but can't put them down.

message 228: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Claire, I actually felt the same way about Labyrinth in the beginning, especially listening to it. I am a very visual person, so I ALMOST bought the book so that I could "see" what was being said. But after a while, I just got sucked into it. It all comes together in the end, and it's worth the wait. :)

02) 01/01/09- 93. The Tales of Beedle the Bard (111 pages) - My favourite fables from the book were The Fountain of Fair Fortune and The Warlock's Hairy Heart but even these were average. No excitement was shown throughout any of the stories and I would say they are more fables than fairy tales.

message 249: by Allison (new)

Allison (inconceivably) glad the last Percy book satisfied you Buh!

Your review made me wonder...if we had started the series before all the books were out, if the anticipation would have made the books even better?

AND...does that mean HP wouldn't have been the same without the wait?

Interesting.

message 250: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) No, I don't think HP wouldn't have been the same without the wait. I really liked Percy, but there is no comparison with HP if you really want to get down to it. HP is better written, a LOT better written, and more detailed and magical. There was some stuff that Percy did which left me wondering why or how or what the heck, but I just moved on.

I liked the story, and the mythology behind it, and maybe that saved it a little. A lot. But if I had to choose a desert island series, it would be Harry. No doubt.
