When I feel that way (like now, for instance with insomnia acting up, time change and work stress) I think to myself I am grateful for this job, house, etc. It helps me get through it.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 11:17 AM. Good morning, GR. I slept in a bit this morning because for some reason, I was just really tired. I'm going to read for a bit, since Mark is at work, and work on some cleaning later. Our house is a big mess because of the packing. I keep saying that, and it gets cleaned up, but once we do more packing...ugh. I'm sure you've all been there. Looks like a lovely day outside, so maybe I can open up the front door and let the kitties look out the screen door. They love watching outside because of the squirrels and birds.

Terri, we have a home inspection tomorrow on a house we've already been in the process of buying. We have already signed papers with the homeowner to buy it, and this week the loan paperwork is starting. We should find out this week what our mortgage payment will be, etc. I don't know why, but even though we got pre-qualified and got pre-qualification letters, this part is making me really nervous. We had some problems with the homeowner's signing the paperwork because they got a divorce, and apparently the husband didn't want the divorce. It made last week pretty stressful because we were worried he wouldn't sign the papers on his end and just delay, delay, delay, and we'd have to find a new house. But, he signed them. I guess this part makes me nervous because I just don't want anything else to go wrong, you know? We are trying to close at the end of March, so we'll see how it all goes. This is the first home we've ever bought, so this has definitely been a learning experience. Thank you for asking. :)

11:20AM Got here late this AM because I had been on the phone with my sister! We always end up talking for hours lol but not today, she was going to the school to have lunch with her daughter. I miss them so much! So my morning has been a little messy! LOL I deleted an email from a friend when just trying to hit the reply ugh. And then when I tried to retrieve it, it said it could not be found so it is bye bye. Hard to write an email when I cant answer hers. :::sigh::: Also trying to get the laundry, done so when it was time to start I find that my son had a load in the washer that he did not throw in the dryer and had already left for work :/

Kay is on spring break this week so I even got to sleep in, so that is a plus to a messy morning. I had my coffee, finally finished my email while talking to my sister, and that was a chore too. LOL But it is a beautiful Morning! Feel like maybe even taking a walk! I think I might just walk over and get Aeverie cause he is coming today!

Kathryn so awesome that you are almost there and I can totally understand the apprehension, buying a house is stressful because anything can happen and it seems you hold your breath the whole time. Try to relax a little and not think to hard on it.

Sorry y'all did not get much sleep, I hate when that happens myself. I will toss and turn for a couple of hours and then eventually get back up. It is worse when I have been asleep for a couple of hours and then wake up. It really is not fun at all. Hope you can get naps maybe?

Sounds like insomnia is common here.

Great news on the house, Kathryn! Hope it all goes through as planned.

1:09pm EDT. Still haven't slept but I don't feel too bad. Probably will just go to bed early tonight. I just got done making 2 loaves of honey white bread and the house smells wonderful. Charlie's ready for his afternoon nap, so I'm going to read a while. Hopefully Larry will be home early and we can have an early dinner. Hope everyone's having a great day!

2:13 p.m. and I did good last night. Stayed up until 6 a.m. which is good since I start night shift tonight. Slept in until 12:30 p.m. Already made some food (chili) for Jeff to eat while I'm at work. Plan on reading some out of The Goldfinch, take a shower, and get ready for work. I am pumped!!

Katy (katyas-69) | 1731 comments Alondra, a few natural things you can use to help you sleep: Kava kava, Valerian root, chamomile, catnip, skullcap, and hops (non-alcoholic beer, or buy pills). And, of course, Melatonin. My PA at Advantage says she takes 10 mg of Melatonin every night at bedtime and she sleeps much better. I usually take 3, 6, or 9 mg. Hope that helps.

Thanks to everyone who is sending me thoughts and encouragement.

Darn, I know there was other stuff I wanted to respond to, but there were 3 pages of messages and I just can't remember what else...

9:04 p.m. EDT Most of the weekend was spent sleeping off and on. Today I went in to meet with several different folks at my oncologist's office: the financial person, the palliative care person, and the social worker. Then this afternoon we did an MRI of my abdomen to have a better idea what's going on in there. To my surprise, St. Mary's had already received notice that I was on Medicaid, a decision that was only made last Friday, and which I had not been notified of yet, nor have I received any of the ID cards, etc. Tomorrow I go to see the guy who will be doing the radiation treatments, and Friday I go in for chemo education. The social worker told me to make sure the radiation guy gives me the full run-down on what can happen, since the radiation is on my gut and it can cause all kinds of nasty things. Like colitis. *sigh*

Right, well hopefully I'll do better keeping up, but I have over 1000 social media messages. Most are Facebook, so I try to check for Goodreads and do them as I find them.

Mark watched The Walking Dead and is now bored. I want to read, but I have a feeling I might have to entertain him somehow by us packing some stuff. Maybe I can talk him into making the brownies he keeps saying he wants me to make. Lol

9:25AM Wow today has just not been a very good day at all. :::sigh::: So now we found out our Sump Pump for the sewer system is broken. Have to figure out what money tree to pull that money off of! Hub will call tomorrow after work and see what we can do about it. And hopefully it will not cost too much. I did have a good workout so that is good and I had my coffee. Aves is watching Shrek this evening and now I think I will read. I have not done too much of that today.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 10:49 PM. Moved into my bed to read. I think I strained my left leg a little in my workout today. It is kind of achy. I think I will put my heating pad on it. Going to read for a while until I fall asleep, since Mark is watching a movie. Night Film is a good read so far. Goodnight, GR.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments 11:15 AM. Good morning, GR. Sitting here about to read and realized I haven't been on GR this morning. Mark is getting off of work early, and we are going to the new house today to get it inspected. Because of that, I'm going to read a bit, go exercise, then get ready to leave. I am really enjoying my book, and read some in bed last night. The heating pad helped my leg muscle last night. We are leaving around 3:45, so I have a few hours to myself.

Susan, thank you so much. We are excited, but I'm trying to maintain my excitement, just in case. Lol

✨Susan✨ (suswelch) | 904 comments I so understand, a lot of things have to go just right. It is exciting and scary at the same time. Eek. Keeping my fingers crossed and sending good thoughts your way. One thing I did was, even though the inspector will give you a report, I recorded it on my eye pad so we could go back to it in real time with every word. Not necessary but it did help us.

message 10222: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 1870 comments I think we are going to take our camera, too. I had pictures on my phone, but deleted them because my phone was full.

12:06 PM. A little change of plan. Mark called and said we are leaving at 2:30 to go to the loan agency, then our home inspection. I have been reading, and Night Film is a good read so far. I think I'm going to go ahead and stop for now and get ready. Then, I can just read until Mark gets here.

12:55PM Geez I seem to be getting later and later getting here. But today I was seriously busy cleaning! I also recorded a vlog, just had lunch and now I am here. I have not read anything since last night so I think I will do some of that now and then when Randy gets home we will figure out what to do about this pump problem! UGH!

3:38 p.m. and I'm trying to read for a short time, cook something to take to work, and then off to work. My back is KILLING me! Bought some Epsom Salt on the way home from work and soaked for 20 minutes when I got home.

Janie - Sump Pumps can be a pain in the rump sometimes. Sorry you are going through this.

Alondra - Hope you were finally able to get some much needed sleep.

Katy - Glad to see you got approved for some financial assistance. That is the last thing you need to be worrying about. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. You are such a strong woman and I have nothing but admiration for you.

10:13AM Well discovered we have to order the pump because no one can seem to have one in stock. So hub found a place the ships in 3 days, so that is better than nothing! I read a little bit today but having a real hard time getting into this book, Sandman Slim. I am not impressed with it. It is pretty vile as well. Just not my cup of tea. I thought the series sounded good when I bought the first 3. I am gonna finish the book, but I doubt I will pick up the others.

9:47am EDT. Have spent most of the morning on GR and other online sites. I've ordered another cookbook and hope it comes today. (I collect cookbooks.) This one is actually a vegan cookbook. I know I can't eat vegan all the time, but I thought I might get a few ideas for some meatless meals. One thing I'm trying is to really cut back on meat and pump up the fruits and veggies in my diet. I think it will help me to feel better. Also, since the snow and ice are gone, my doc says I can start taking short walks and slowly increase the intensity and the distance. I've decided that this is the year I'm getting as much of my health back as possible! Hope everyone is having a happy Wednesday!

YAY Kathryn about the house inspection!

Janie, sorry for your pump problems.

I might need to go lay back down for a bit. I have been really tired lately. It must be from everything going on. Oh well...that is what coffee and naps are for. Haha!

Terri, I am glad to see you are going to try taking walks when the weather was up. It is amazing what a little exercise can do for you. It always makes me feel better physically, emotionally, and mentally. Probably because I sleep better. Lol

9:55AM I had to quit on Sandman Slim, I just felt like I was wasting time trying to like it and finish the book. I read to about pg.95 and had to stop. So mark that one as a dnf. So I picked up Prior Bad Acts instead. I felt like revisiting Kovak and Liska. Sam always makes me happy! Heh. Aeverie stayed last night. He likes to stay over once in awhile now that he rarely ever does. So he is watching Frozen right now. I am enjoying my coffee and I am gonna pick up my book soon. Good Morning GR!

Terri my sister read that walking is in fact one of the best exercises we can do. It works all the muscles and least amount of stress on our joints. I love walks!

I'm sorry you didn't like Sandman Slim. I've got it in my library, maybe one to return. I like Kovac and Liska very much. The 9th Girl great story. I am going to have a hard time choosing from three good series I've got myself tangled up in just recently. Have you read this series in order?

Got home from dinner with my parents. Tonight my mom and I are going to watch some tv and then I am going to read some. I want to finish a few books here soon. I seem to have found myself in a reading slump, then I have been busy with school and homework that I feel like I don't have enough time for the reading I want to do. So I have decided to challenge myself to read four books a month.

Susan if you are talking about the Kovak and Liska series, then yes I have been reading it in order. I am on book 3 right now. I don't have The 9th Girl yet but I will be keeping an eye out for it. It is still in hardback since it just came out last year, so I will wait till it hits paper since the other 3 I have are all paper. I noticed that Book Outlet has all 3 from the Oak knoll trilogy which I also plan on reading this year, and Book Outlet is cheap, cheap, cheap. I have the series, but thought I would let you know if you are interested in it for yourself.

1:47am EDT. Another night without sleep. Emotionally I'm just letting the problems with my son affect me way too much, physically and mentally. So I'm just going to concentrate on the positive things I can do for myself and for my husband. I'm glad the weather is clearing up (though we did have a little snow yesterday) so I can take Charlie on some walks. That ought to be fun. He cheers me up so much. It's amazing how much emotional support you can get from a pet.

Noam, Cixi sounds really cool. Does the name mean anything in particular? I read The Bothers Karamazov almost a year ago as a buddy read and we liked it very much.

Shell, great to see you post! Sounds like things are going well, even if you are crazy busy!

Kathryn, give that Gizmo girl some extra love!
