~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Hi Rachel-Goodbye Borders Here are your picks! You had so many books, it was great. There were a ton of authors I had never heard of, but they looked really interesting. So my TBR has definitely grown! I hope I found some good things for you to read this month. Let me know!!

1. Turkey: Tangled Webs and The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie
I have recently discovered the Black Jewels series and love it, and Lord Ian is one of my absolutely favorite historical romances. So emotional! Either one would be great!
Tangled Webs (The Black Jewels, #6) by Anne Bishop The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie (Highland Pleasures, #1) by Jennifer Ashley

2. Mashed Potatoes: Rock Chick and Nearly Departed in Deadwood These would both be new to you, though they are on your To Read list. I have never read the first one, though I have heard good things about it and it looks really fun. The second pick is a fun, paranormal mystery in a series that I have really enjoyed. Great light reading.
Rock Chick (Rock Chick, #1) by Kristen Ashley Nearly Departed in Deadwood (Deadwood Mystery #1) by Ann Charles

3. Gravy: Bound By Moonlight and Dragon Bound
I have never heard of the first pick, but I loved the cover! And the second pick is absolutely wonderful and it's about a dragon. So Yummy. Plus they both have the word Bound in them. How could you go wrong!
Bound By Moonlight (Moonlight, #4) by Nancy Gideon Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison

4. Pumpkin Pie: Holly Lane and The Virtuoso (Duke's Obsession, #3)
I read the first book by Toni Blake and really liked it and you seem to like the series, so here is the next one. And you also seem to enjoy the series by Grace Burrowes. I love that series, and loved this pick! Either would make you feel so good.

MountainKat | 31763 comments Hi Amy J., here are your picks! I used your read-11-12102 shelf a lot, I hope those are books that you wanted to read soon! I had several of the books already picked when I found that shelf and took it as a good sign. If that isn't what that shelf means, or if you need other picks, just let me know! I hope you like them though!

The Traditional Turkey Dinner

1. Turkey: I think Nalini Singh's Psy-Changeling series is pretty intense and up next for you is Mine to Possess. (Perhaps a buddy read? I am also to this one in the series even though I think I should probably start over as it has been a really long time since I read the first ones! I would love the motivation to get back into this series though.) One you don't have on your shelves, although you seem to have liked the previous ones, is Ecstasy Unveiled by Larissa Ione. I loved that series! I highly suggest you continue it, and the one that follows too!

Mine to Possess (Psy-Changeling, #4) by Nalini Singh Ecstasy Unveiled (Demonica, #4) by Larissa Ione

2. Mashed Potatoes: You have Four to Score by Janet Evanovich on your to-read shelf, I certainly think Stephanie Plum falls into the light and fluffy category! (This one might be an easier one to do a buddy read on.) Not quite as light, but still a lot of fun is One Foot in the Grave by Jeaniene Frost. I love the humor in that series! You liked the first one, even with the ending so I think you will like this one even more!

Four to Score (Stephanie Plum #4) by Janet Evanovich One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress, #2) by Jeaniene Frost

3. Gravy: It looks like you want to start reading Lara Adrian's Midnight Breed series, the first book is Kiss of Midnight. I think this whole series is pretty yummy! The first book is pretty good even if it isn't my favorite, but I think it is best to start at the beginning! OK, talk about yummy - KMM's Highlanders! Yeah... ~sigh~ You read the first two so next is The Highlander's Touch. That one was pretty good, but Kiss of the Highlander is even better! This is one time it is OK to read out of order - and coming from me that is saying a lot!!

Kiss of Midnight (Midnight Breed, #1) by Lara Adrian The Highlander's Touch (Highlander, #3) by Karen Marie Moning Kiss of the Highlander (Highlander, #4) by Karen Marie Moning

4. Pumpkin Pie: One I found on your to read shelf that is definitely sweet is Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord by Sarah Maclean. I really enjoy her writing! A new one for you, Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison, not exactly sweet, but it definitely left me feeling good! I've enjoyed the whole series so far and am looking forward to the new release!

Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord (Love By Numbers, #2) by Sarah MacLean Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison

I hope you find something you like!

~KarenH~ | 11371 comments Hi Gigi!

I had a great time browsing through your shelves! It looks like our tastes are pretty different, but hopefully we have enough in common that I was able to come up with something interesting for you.

The Traditional Turkey Dinner

1. Turkey:
Cover of Night – You said you love Linda Howard, and this is her at her emotional, gut-wrenching best. EDIT: Ok, so I had a little brain fade there and mixed up my LH books - I was thinking of Cry No More, not Cover of Night - but Cover of Night was still good! :) Dragonfly in Amber – Definitely a lot to tackle, but you gave Outlander 5 stars, and I thought this one was just as good. Extreme Exposure – Not my favorite book by Pamela Clare, but still a great start to an amazing series.

2. Mashed Potatoes: To Die For – Linda Howard in a whole different light, definitely fluffy and fun, with a little stalking and murder thrown in just for kicks. A Kiss at Midnight – I just started this series a couple of months ago, and I love it! Seduction and Snacks – I've been hearing a lot about this lately, so if you’re interested I’d be happy to do a buddy read with you.

3. Gravy: The Chief – Yummy cover, and what’s not to love about Scottish Highlanders? I've been wanting to read something by this author, so this is another one that I would be willing to read with you. The Mane Event – Funny and sexy, this is a great start to a very fun series. The Darkest Hour – Yummy cover, yummy hero, wonderful family, great series.

4. Pumpkin Pie: Simply Irresistible, Exclusively Yours, and Heaven, Texas – all wonderful feel-good books for me, and Heaven, Texas has a bonus of one of my top few grovel scenes ever!

I hope you can find something here that you like, if not let me know and I’ll give it another try! Happy reading!

2. Mashed Potatoes:
a). Baby, I'm Yours (Baby, #1) by Susan Andersen - this one looked light-hearted. I might just have to add this one to my TBR

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments Hello Ty! Here are your November picks. Hope there is something you really enjoy on this list!

1. Turkey: Lover Avenged is my second favorite BDB book. It's very intense and emotional! I also have to recommend Outlander since it appears you haven't yet met Jamie Fraser.

2. Mashed Potatoes: I don't see anything on your TBR that's really light and fluffy. So, how about Under Her Skin or Match Me If You Can.

3. Gravy: Garden Spells is about a caterer whose food has special effects. Wild Card has a yummy cover.

4. Pumpkin Pie: I just read Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake and loved it. Very satisfying! I also really enjoyed The Many Sins of Lord Cameron.

Happy reading!

I piked one for each category from your to be read list and I tried to add one from books I loved to each category as well. Here are your picks:

1. Turkey:
Kill Switch - from your TBR
Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh- one of my favorited I read recently. Has a great Love story.
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - deinately emotional and worth the read.

2. Mashed Potatoes:
The Lost Duke of Wyndham by Julia Quinn - from your TBR
One For The Money by Janet Evanovich - This whole series made me laugh out loud.

3. Gravy:
In Bed with a Highlander - from your TBR
The Valcourt Heiress by Catherine Coulter - Although this isn't the first in the series it is one that I read and based on books you have read, I think you will like it since it is more of a historical romance with a twist. She also has a great FBI seires that I have read pretty much all of.

4. Pumpkin Pie:
Heart Choice
Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts - This is one of my all-time favorite authors and one of the best books she has ever written. This is the second in the series of 4, but you don't have to read them in order.

I hope you enjoy some of the books. If you don't see something that you love, I can do repicks. All of the books that were not from your TBR I have read and anjoyed.

Kill Switch by Neal Baer Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh The Hunger Games (The Hunger Games, #1) by Suzanne Collins The Lost Duke of Wyndham (Two Dukes of Wyndham, #1) by Julia Quinn One For The Money (Stephanie Plum, #1) by Janet Evanovich In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks The Valcourt Heiress (Medieval Song, # 7) by Catherine Coulter Heart Choice (Celta's Heartmates #4) by Robin D. Owens Bed of Roses (Bride Quartet, #2) by Nora Roberts

message 115: by Erin (new)

Erin (erin-b) Hi Lorena! Here are your picks. I had a great time looking through your shelves, a lot of great books on there. If you don't find anything here that strikes your fancy, just let me know and I'd be glad to pick something else. Happy reading!

The Traditional Turkey Dinner

1. Turkey: The meat of the meal, suggest books that are intense or emotional, something you can sink your teeth into.

Dance with the Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon is still my favorite of the Dark Hunter series, and is an excellent, emotional read. You have given 5 stars to the other books in this series that you've read, so perhaps you will enjoy this one too. Wild Magic by Tamora Pierce is the story of an orphaned girl gifted with wild magic, a power that lets her communicate with animals. She is hired to help lead a train of horses back to the capitol of the realm, and once there begins to discover that there is more to her magic than she ever thought possible. Or, Son of the Morning by Linda Howard is also a great read. I just bought it as a birthday present for a friend so it's on my mind at the moment, an excellent combination of romantic suspense, a bit of time travel, and some interesting history by an author that I love.

2. Mashed Potatoes: Fluffy and light, recommend books that are light or funny, a little bit of fluff for them to enjoy.

Shelly Laurenston is one of my favorite funny authors, and the first book is her Pride series, The Mane Event is very entertaining. Bunny and the Bear by Eve Langlais is another funny favorite of mine. Plus, the main character is a werebunny. What could be fluffier than that? Or for something completely different, The Big Over Easy by Jasper Fforde is an hilarious mystery featuring detective Jack Spratt and his new partner Mary Mary who are searching for Humpty Dumpty's murderer.

3. Gravy: You know how you practically want to lick it off your plate? Yeah, like that. Choose books with yummy covers or yummy stories

Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison was recommended to me in this challenge last year and I loved it. I've only read the first 2 books in the series so far, but I loved them both. Fire Me Up by Katie MacAlister. You liked book one, and book two is equally as enjoyable.

4. Pumpkin Pie: The sweet finish, topped off with whipped cream! Suggest sweet books for your pickee, some that are like comfort food, feel good books that will leave them feeling good!

Slave to Sensation by Nalini Singh. I have loved everything that I've read by this author, and this first book in her Psy-Changling series is a great place to start. Or, two of my personal comfort reads, The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley and The China Garden by Liz Berry. I have read them both tons of times since I first picked them up as a teenager, and they remain favorites still. If you like audiobooks, and you can find a copy of the audio version of The Blue Sword, I would highly recommend that as well.

Dance with the Devil (Dark-Hunter, #4; Were-Hunter, #2) by Sherrilyn Kenyon Wild Magic (Immortals, #1) by Tamora Pierce Son of the Morning by Linda Howard The Mane Event (Pride, #1) by Shelly Laurenston Bunny and the Bear (Furry United Coalition, #1) by Eve Langlais The Big Over Easy (Nursery Crime, #1) by Jasper Fforde Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison Fire Me Up (Aisling Grey Guardian, #2) by Katie MacAlister Slave to Sensation (Psy-Changeling #1) by Nalini Singh The Blue Sword (Damar, #1) by Robin McKinley The China Garden by Liz Berry

1. Turkey: The meat of the meal, suggest books that are intense or emotional, something you can sink your teeth into.

Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain, #3) by Kristen Ashley On Dublin Street by Samantha Young

2. Mashed Potatoes: Fluffy and light, recommend books that are light or funny, a little bit of fluff for them to enjoy.

message 119: by Ty (new)

Ty | 1943 comments Suzanne - Wow! Your TBR pile is a mountain! We have 745 books in common, most of which are on your TBR. So really, there was no hope for me to recommend anything not on your list XD
Hope you like my picks - please let me know if you need a repick.

1. Turkey:
Daughter of Smoke and Bone - I looove Laini Taylor's writing, absolutely evocative and emotional.
Daughter of the Forest - I recommend this one but I also caution. I suggest you run your errands before starting since you will probably not go out in public because you have a serious case of the Ugly Cry. You will need an entire box of Kleenex and about several days after finishing in which to recover. There, I hope I have sufficently warned you.

2. Mashed Potatoes:
Seduction and Snacks - Sarcastic funny read that had many genuine LOL moments.
First Grave on the Right - I guess I must really like the sarcastic heroine, because this is another snarky, funny read. I do love Reyes...

3. Gravy:
Mystery Man - The book that got me on the Kristen Ashley train.
Club Shadowlands - um, yep. this is hawtness. XD

4. Pumpkin Pie:
The reading equivalent of comfort food for me are the books that I cut my teeth on during my teenage years - the historical romances. These 2 I go back to over and over...

Once in a Blue Moon - My Number One Favorite HR. Ever. It's intense.
Years - I love everything LaVyrle Spencer - they're all keepers to me, but this one is absolutely engaging.

Alexis (LexaReads) | 375 comments Nancy Here are my picks for you! We have a little in common, but not a bunch so I don't know how good these are for you... if you don't see anything, please let me know and I'll try again for you!

1. Turkey: I think the queen of intense emotional reads is Catherine Anderson, so my suggestion is Annie's Song by her. One I found on your to-read shelf that I haven't read, but have heard is a very emotional story is Sarah's Key.

2. Mashed Potatoes: Janet Evanovich is known for her fun light reads. I saw one of her romances The Rocky Road to Romance on your shelf, so I thought that might be a fun read for you. A paranormal author who I have so much fun reading is Molly Harper. I saw you've enjoyed other books by her, so I recommend the first in her vampire series, Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs.

3. Gravy Kristen Ashley knows how to write a man, and this one on your to read shelf is one of my favorites, I highly recommend Mystery Man by her! Another great story with a yummy cover is Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison.

4. Pumpkin Pie I'm all about the sweet stories... I really love to feel warm and cozy after a book, so I have about a million suggestions for this category. One of my favorite series is Virgin River by Robyn Carr. The people in this series really become a big, warm loving family that I'm always ready to return to! I noticed you like mysteries and this series is in a charming town that I'd love to visit! A Killer Plot

Annie's Song by Catherine Anderson Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay The Rocky Road to Romance by Janet Evanovich Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs (Jane Jameson, #1) by Molly Harper Mystery Man (Dream Man, #1) by Kristen Ashley Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr A Killer Plot (A Books by the Bay Mystery #1) by Ellery Adams

Katie | 2083 comments Hi Irina!

Here's what I did. The first pick came from your to-read shelf and the second is an m/m book from my shelves. Hope you find something good! I can throw more m/f in there if m/m's not really your thing.

1. Turkey
Kiss of Crimson - This was the only kinda intense book from your shelves that I had read before.
I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier - If you have any interest in m/m, this is a great book to start with. It's my one of my favorites and definitely one you can sink your teeth into that also comes with a lot of humor. So good!

2. Mashed Potatoes
Big Bad Beast - I LOVE Shelly Laurenston. I think she might be my favorite author right now. I whole-heartedly suggest this book or whatever book you may be on from this series!
Almost Like Being in Love - This book had me laughing so hard throughout. It's an epistolary story, so if you do decide to read this, I strongly suggest splurging and buying it as a paperback. It's totally worth it, IMO.

3. Gravy
Changing the Game (Play by Play, #2) by Jaci Burton - OMG...
Cop Out by K.C. Burn - Lol! You'd think reading lots of m/m would garner some really hot covers, but I didn't want to recommend a book that I didn't like as much just for the hot cover. :)

4. Pumpkin Pie
The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever - Julia Quinn is always good for a sweet, funny romance.
The Ghost on My Couch - So adorable.

The Traditional Turkey Dinner

1. Turkey:

Captive in the Dark by C.J. Roberts. This book is so intense and heart wrenching. I went through so many emotions while reading it and I am pretty sure that by the end I had Stockholm syndrome along with the main character. Be warned that it is not for the faint of heart. You will defiantly hate the male lead at some points as well.
Captive in the Dark (The Dark Duet, #1) by C.J. Roberts

Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs. Not nearly as intense as Captive in the Dark but still emotionally in the sense that the main character was abused prior to be saved by the strapping hero. The book begins with her already saved (there is a short prequel worth reading about his rescue) and them moving on with their lives. Also it’s a shifter book and I am personally a sucker for those.
Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs

2. Mashed Potatoes:

The Boy Next Door by Meg Cabot funny and cute like most Cabot books.
The Boy Next Door (Boy, #1) by Meg Cabot

Talk Me Down by Victoria Dahl. Great funny, fluffy read with a little bit of stalker thrown in. The main character is an author who writes erotic books.
Talk Me Down (Tumble Creek, #1) by Victoria Dahl

3. Gravy:

Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison. Great book plus a hot man on the cover..
Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1) by Thea Harrison

Fury by Laurann Dohner all of her books have very hot men on the covers..
Fury (New Species, #1) by Laurann Dohner

4. Pumpkin Pie:

Compromising Positions by Bayley-Burke, Jenna. This was just one of those books that left me smiling in the end.
Compromising Positions by Jenna Bayley-Burke

A Kingdom of Dreams by McNaught, Judith. Awesome bodice ripper with about Garwood level quality in my opinion.
A Kingdom of Dreams (Westmoreland, #1) by Judith McNaught

I hope you enjoy these picks. However if there are any you are not interested in just let me know and I will gladly pick more. Its a struggle for me to keep it down to just two lol

Mimmy (roxym) | 208 comments For Vi,

I hope you've survived your two big weekend events!
Here are the November picks...let me know what you think.

1. Turkey: The meat of the meal Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn or The Last Letter from Your Lover JoJo Moyes. I’ve read both and found myself holding my breath and biting my lip as I read.

2. Mashed Potatoes: Fluffy and light Ella Enchanted or And One Last Thing by Molly Harper. Elke recommended it for me from last month’s PIFM and it was the perfect quick and funny read.

3. Gravy: Choose books with yummy covers or yummy stories. Hmm. For me, a “yummy cover” seems to be a girl in a ball gown… Princess of the Midnight Ball or Addicted

4. Pumpkin Pie: Suggest sweet books for your pickee, some that are like comfort food, feel good books that will leave them feeling good! The School of Essential Ingredients which I thought was a very "sweet" book. Also, all the mention of cooking inspired my own culinary adventures.

Happy reading!

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn The Last Letter from Your Lover by Jojo Moyes Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine And One Last Thing ... by Molly Harper Princess of the Midnight Ball (Princess #1) by Jessica Day George Addicted by Charlotte Featherstone The School of Essential Ingredients by Erica Bauermeister

Thanks MountainKat! Those are books I am wanting to read soon. And I own most of them, so I can read many of your suggestions.

I'll definitely read: Mine to Possess, Four to Score, Kiss of Midnight, and Ten Ways to Be Adored When Landing a Lord.

I'm also trying to decide between the other 5. I'd like to read at least one. I'll see which one I can get and let you know what I decide.

Thanks again,

Melissa | 1245 comments Hi, Flame! After spending some time looking at your shelves, here are the picks I came up with. I hope you find something you feel like reading!

1)Turkey:
from your shelves - Divergent
(I've heard great things about this series, but have yet to read it myself)
new to you - The Forest of Hands and Teeth
(One of my favorites and one I recommend a lot)

2)Mashed Potatoes
from your shelves - A Kiss at Midnight
(I'm totally guessing this fits this category!)
new to you - The Season
("light and fluffy", but enjoyable)

3)The Gravy
from your shelves - Sweet Inspiration
(literal translation of "yummy", but hey, it fit)
new to you - Atlantis Rising
(yummy cover AND yummy story - I love this paranormal romance series)

4)Pumpkin Pie
from your shelves - Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake
(sounds sweet, but I haven't read it yet - this is on my to-be-read shelf as well)
new to you - Charming the Prince
(one of the sweetest books I've read in awhile!)

Happy reading!

Thanks, Lexa. These look great! I can't decide what to start with, but there at least 5 that I will definitely be reading! I am traveling this week, so I may take the Evanovich one, because she is a good author to take with you when traveling, and also the Virgin River one, because I have wanted to start that series for a while.....but maybe others....I just can't decide!!

Hey Irina --

I'm glad you found something. I can rec some m/f if you'd like, or if you're cool with the two you've got, then that's good, too. :)

message 150: by Amanda (new)

Amanda The Book Slayer (amanda_the_book_slayer) | 63 comments Oh Tiffanny I could have picked 5 books for each one and more. :o) So if you don't like any of the books that I picked let me know and I can re-pick if you like.

1. Turkey: The meat of the meal, suggest books that are intense or emotional, something you can sink your teeth into.
On the Edge- I love this series and the authors. I have found that all of their books are intense and make me want to read them over and over.
Magic to the Bone- This series isn't as well known but I love it to death. It is also one I begged my husband to give it a try and he loves it as well. Plenty of ass kicking and romance to make me happy. I think this series is 8 books strong and the author keeps throwing curve balls. I love it.
On the Edge (The Edge, #1) by Ilona Andrews Magic to the Bone (Allie Beckstrom, #1) by Devon Monk

2. Mashed Potatoes: Fluffy and light, recommend books that are light or funny, a little bit of fluff for them to enjoy.
Club Shadowlands- I wouldn't necessarily call this book fluffy but it is an easy read and is the shortest book of this series. If you like BDSM than this series is a winner.
Seduction and Snacks- I just read this one yesterday and laughed throughout the book. I loved it and would recommend it to anyone with a sense of humor. :)
Club Shadowlands (Masters of the Shadowlands, #1) by Cherise Sinclair Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers, #1) by Tara Sivec

3. Gravy: You know how you practically want to lick it off your plate? Yeah, like that. Choose books with yummy covers or yummy stories.
Flat-Out Sexy- This cover is yummy and the book is smokin' I loved it!
Hot in Handcuffs- The stories were hot as were the sexy men in them! Who doesn't love a little time in handcuffs? ;)
Flat-Out Sexy (Fast Track, #1) by Erin McCarthy Hot in Handcuffs (Sexy Capers, #3) by Shayla Black

4. Pumpkin Pie: The sweet finish, topped off with whipped cream! Suggest sweet books for your pickee, some that are like comfort food, feel good books that will leave them feeling good!
Warrior's Redemption- I loved this book and the ending is so sweet. Of course, I do have a thing about highlanders. They are just so yummy in kilts.
Magic Bites- I had to add this one. This is my comfort book series. When in doubt I will always, always go back to Kate and Curran. I think the first book is the weakest out of the series but once you understand the world you can focus in on Kate and Curran. All I have to say is who doesn't want a piece of The Beast Lord?!
Simply Irresistible- I decided to add this book in case you wanted something that had the happy ending all in one book. This book is a feel good, madly in love with you package. Once I read the first book I had to read all the other characters HEA's.
Warrior's Redemption (Warrior #1) by Melissa Mayhue Magic Bites (Kate Daniels, #1) by Ilona Andrews Simply Irresistible (Lucky Harbor, #1) by Jill Shalvis

Enjoy!
