Women and Men discussion
Trying to find a Copy?
Hi Hugh,We are going to be able to ship internationally, but not through the website order form. Shoot me an email at michelle@dzancbooks.org. We'll get it figured out.
Just got an email from Danzc with an electronic copy to tide me over till the actual book arrives. SO EXCITED!!!
Hi all,As Harry mentioned, an email went out this morning regarding Women & Men. In addition to offering the ebook to all who have preordered, it mentioned that we have finally sent this book to print - Joe, his editor, and everyone at the house are tremendously excited to share this revamped version with you. Given the estimated print time, I am setting the new "pub date" at May 25th, to be sure we hit it this time, but rest assured, all preorders will go out as soon as the books are in hand. All our best.
I also received the e-book! With this and Vollmann's new book about climate change, 2018 will be a great year for reading.
Michelle --Eternal gratitude for all you and Dan have done keeping us in the loop. I don't know many publishers that reach out to its readers on such a reliable basis. Very excited to see W&M coming back into print!

Well said Nathan, well said.
Marcus wrote: "nvm, scooped it up on Kindle today. How is it 600 pages longer than the print version though?"It isn't. As the person that loaded the files into the distribution chain to get it to Amazon, I'm truly not sure if we inadvertently typed in the wrong number for pages, or if they do some sort of a conversion via Amazon, but the files used for the eBook are what created the printer files for the paperback that Dzanc is publishing. Same number of words.

How exciting to see this new publishing on the shelves.
Hello all,After a precipitously long wait, the final copies of WOMEN AND MEN have finally arrived. We will begin shipping out immediately, but for those of you in other countries, it will probably take a few more weeks for the books to arrive - thanks in advance for your endless patience with us throughout this whole process. We are honored that so many people love Joe's work.

Just a little. Joe is sending them my way tomorrow, so they'll probably arrive here early next week.
Hello all,WOMEN AND MEN has sold out.
Thanks to everyone for your interest in this incredible book. Due to the size of the book, we're simply unable keep printing copies on demand. We will do another limited print run early next spring, most likely taking preorders starting in November.
However, we're not quite out of books yet - we had a handful of copies that sustained cosmetic damage during the printing or shipping process, which we'll put on sale today at a discount. They're all completely readable, just imperfect in terms of some dents or wrinkles on the spine.
If you want one of those copies (we have some unsigned and a very small number of signed copies), they'll go on sale today at 6 p.m. Eastern time. Look for those on our website at 6 p.m.
Greetings, faithful McElroy fans. We are planning another printing of WOMEN AND MEN - preorders will be available on Dzanc's website starting Nov. 1. For those of you who've already procured your long-awaited copies, help us spread the word to other McElroy fans who may have missed out last time.
Great news! Call me greedy, but I'm hoping for a hardcover, too. And any news regarding McElroy's water opus, etc.?
Will the second printing include hardcover versions by any chance? I refuse to buy books over 750 pages in paperback because they always split mid-read.

Just ordered mine, pretty excited to receive it.[EDIT] I ordered mine on Jan 8th with regular shipping and received it Jan 11th. Awesome service.
Bryan wrote: "I pre-ordered today. Thanks Dzanc for letting us know!"Received it a few weeks ago. Now I need to finish Infinite Jest because Women and Men is staring at me from my bookcase.
So, my local HPB has a Knopf hardcover edition in mylar slipcover for $75.They're doing these coupon deals all week, so I could get it this Sunday for half the price.
Honestly, though, I don't really need another copy, and I can't be arsed to go around reselling it. Any group members in/near Madison, Wisconsin interested in getting W&M in hardcover for $75 (or half that, if you use the coupon this Sunday)? The HPB on the west side has it. They're holding it for me, but say the word and I'll release it.
I don't need it, but I would imagine someone on here would be happy to get it for $37? Maybe since the reprint though I am wrong.
The problem is that I live in FL. If anyone wants to be a superhuman of kindness and pick it up and ship it to me, I can send the 37 plus shipping.
I ordered a copy from Dzanc Books a couple of weeks ago, so it seems back in print for purchase. Here is the site: https://www.dzancbooks.org/our-books/...
Happy reading!
Happy reading!
Hey Christopher,I just got my copy from there. It arrived in rough shape. The front cover is messed up in spots. It needed way more bubble wrap for the weight of the item, especially when shipping to Canada.
P.S Update: I just wanted to add that their Customer Service is actually quite excellent. And they resolved this issue well.
But I will stick to my last point about the transparency of the paper. It's a bit bothersome. I wonder what the older Editions are like from other publishers. Perhaps someone can comment on this. If they are indeed better I will simply seek one of those copies out as well. My only issue with older Hardcover books, 10-20 years is the state of the glue binding. I would rather not spend $100 on a book that will crack. The Dzanc edition seems solid enough. For a softcover of this many pages, it seems like it would be perfectly fine over time. And there is that gorgeous cover design. If it wasn't for the translucent paper it might be the best edition for someone like me who typically avoids buying Hardcover novels.
Good morning, everybody---a note regarding Hind's kidnap--Dzanc will be doing a paperback version of this similar to the W&M done in the past. Right now looking at August 2021. We will do our best to remember to shoot details your way as things continue to move forward. Have a great day. Dan

Damn, thanks for the head's up. Nicest part is two volume (and a slipcase perhaps?)—will make reading a little easier on the wrists.

Hi, Michelle. Really looking forward to the release of the book, but I'm a bit worried about my ability to get my hands on a physical copy, as the Dzanc store only allows shipping to the US. Do you know if there will be any way for us non-Americans to purchase the paperback? Anyway, thanks for taking the time to update us here.
