Trying to find a Copy?
All right. I just confirmed with Joe, and we're going to go ahead and offer a signed edition. There will be an additional $10 charge for a signed copy (because Joe and I have to ship the books back and forth to each other). This option isn't up on our website just yet, but should be by the end of the week. Thanks, all, for your enthusiasm.

If we've already pre-ordered, do I need to cancel and re-order or can I simply pay the additional $10.
Nick wrote: "Awesome news Michelle! If we've already pre-ordered, do I need to cancel and re-order or can I simply pay the additional $10. "Same question!
This is a really great offer, Michelle. Much appreciated.
Let me ask the folks who administer the website what the best way to do that is. I'll let you know as soon as I have a definitive answer.
Word from the website folks: a new option is now available, under the "Women and Men" product tab, for "Signed" or "Unsigned". The charge will be $35 for a signed copy, with the same shipping charges (as the extra shipping is built into the price). If you already preordered, you can cancel and reorder with a signed copy selected. Thanks for your patience.
It's strange that you can't find an option for canceling the order, but I can do it from my side. Anyone who needs to cancel and reorder but can't figure out how to do that, please send me an email at michelle@dzancbooks.org so I have your full name and info. Thanks.
One more update, folks: after talking to Joe, it's become clear that asking him to sign more than about forty copies would be a hardship. Accordingly, I've updated the product availability on our website to 40 signed copies yet to go (I'm not counting orders already placed, a few extra won't be a problem). So if you haven't ordered a signed copy and want to do so, stock is limited and will probably go fast. Sorry to limit this, but I hate to put too much on Joe - he's been at this a long time.

We won't be able to label them as such on the copyright page, as we'll be printing as a batch. We might be able to do something else, though.
David wrote: "Just pre-ordered my copy on Barnes and Noble. Can't wait to get my hands on a copy!!!"Hi David,
Just so you know, I can't guarantee that B&N orders will go through - we're distributing this one through our press instead of through a distributor, so the normal outlets won't necessarily have copies, at least not right at first. I believe the B&N product is an old offering. That said, I'm sure they will get copies eventually. It's just not something I'll have any control over.
Dear Fellow McElroy-iacsI went to purchase my signed copy a few hrs ago. Put in info, scanned my cc, and stopped before pushing ‘purchase.’ Why? Because I already own a first edition and many signed Joe books. I’m lucky enough to be able to buy an Ultramarine. There is a point to this...
For a lot of people, this may be their only chance to get this masterpiece signed by Joe (or any book, for that matter). As a collector, my first impulse was to covet and hoard. But as a person who’s been witness to the groundswell of younger readers falling over themselves to even get a copy to read, why would I deny them the opportunity that will not come again? For sheer scarcity? Meh, fuck all that.
I’ll support Joe by buying a regular copy as a show of love. I’m not trying to preach or tell anyone what to do. But, if you feel that hesitation that I did, ask yourself if your life will really be that much better by adding another fetishistic notch to your belt. Remember that a signed copy for someone on a budget likely will be immeasurably enriched in manifold ways.
Then remember that this is just my opinion, and do what thou will. God knows I’m no one to judge any of you fine friends and people. I wish all of you only the best.

Spot=On Cody! Dzanc's doing the right thing getting this wonder back into the hands of readers. We readers have a role in that too.
Thanks, Nathan. Sorry for preaching. Just think there’s love to spread around. And Michelle: the Lord’s work, really. Hat’s off to you, and thank you for your diligence and attention. Dzanc is an asset to us readers, but you are one hell of an asset to Dzanc.
Thanks, Nathan and everyone. It's wonderful to see so much enthusiasm for one of our authors. As a quick update, all signed copies have now been spoken for. We will continue taking regular preorders through mid-February (though I suspect everyone on this thread already has theirs ordered). Best,
Michelle
I should've gone for a signed copy. Oh well, I'm still really happy that I was able to place an order.Who's up for a Women and Men reading group this spring?

Agree entirely Cody. As I am one of the lucky ones with the Ultramarine edition, I held off pre-ordering. Will order a copy to use as my "re-reading copy" in the New Year.
So very very glad this is finally going to see the light of day, and more people can read this masterpiece!
Ah...just went to pre-order and saw you only ship within the US. Do you know if there is going to be an option to buy from abroad, or do I need to order through another site (such as, yuck, Amazon)?

I wouldn't quite trust amazon to get this listed correctly and punctually. Right now they list the ebook (appears correct) but not the paperback. Michelle's been great ; drop her a note.
Hello all. Just a quick update from me. I took a dummy book of the right weight to the post office, and it looks like overseas shipping is going to be about $35 to everywhere except Canada ($30 for you folks). Just something to be aware of. If you're overseas and you're after this book, send me an email and I'll see what I can do.
I've been largely absent from the planet for the past few months and coming back here to this news just now has made my day. I know I'm late to this but thank you, Michelle, I hope everyone over at Dzanc knows how much this means to so many people here. It's been a long time coming. I can't wait to see all of the new reviews in a few months.
Ace cover art too. Ordered. Although I've had to specify a friend's address in the states as there's no UK shipping. But I need this edition. Need. Exciting. Well Dzanc.
Nick wrote: "Ace cover art too. Ordered. Although I've had to specify a friend's address in the states as there's no UK shipping. But I need this edition. Need. Exciting. Well Dzanc."Hi Nick,
We can ship to the UK, but the added cost of the shipping does fall on you. Email me at michelle@dzancbooks.org if you'd like to discuss it further.

Thank you Michelle. Extremely gracious of you. Thanks again - emailing you now.
Hello all fellow McElroy fans:I wanted to send a quick update about the production status of this book. I know there have been endless delays on the book in previous seasons, and it seems only fair to keep everyone in the loop.
We're running a bit behind on production at present. Joe and his editor are going through the book word by word, fine-toothing this to the point of making sure that quote marks are in Roman font when surrounding words in italics, and as you can imagine, that takes some time with a book this size. We want this to be Joe's definitive version, where everything is completely accurate - it's very important to him, and we're getting very close. However, with the time it takes to print and ship, it's not likely that we'll hit the March 20 date.
We've provisionally changed the pub date to April 15, but we'll be printing and shipping these books out just as soon as we can. I apologize for the delays - I know you're all as excited as I am to finally have this book back in print, and I'll keep you informed of any further schedule changes as we go forward.
George wrote: "Thanks for the update. Glad Joe is getting to do his work to make what he wants to be read."He's always been very hands-on, that's for sure.

Thanks for the update Michelle. I love how this republishing is receiving such rigorous attention to detail and so much care. Great stuff.
would rather wait and have a definitive version than one hurried, also, where will it be available in the UK?
hearusfalling wrote: "would rather wait and have a definitive version than one hurried, also, where will it be available in the UK?"Contact me at michelle@dzancbooks.org, and we'll get it figured out.
Is anyone getting the ebook version? I might get it along with my print copy. Am*zon lists its publication date as March 27. Has anyone preordered this? Anyone ordered through Dzanc? I’m hesitant to preorder through Am*zon (though it’s most convenient for my kindle) in case it isn’t the official, final JM- approved version.
Hello folks,Joe and his editor are closing in on final edits. We're hoping to have the print and ebook versions finalized by the end of next week, though this is a shifting goal. Once the ebook is finished, it will be immediately available for purchase through our website and through Amazon, etc. - the ebook is being traditionally distributed, so you should be able to find it many places.
We will also be sending the ebook to everyone who has ordered a physical book through Dzanc's site, as an apology for the delay in the hard copy. Thanks for your continued patience with us.
Michelle wrote: "As are we!"This is all so epic and exciting. Thanks for the continued updates and for making this all happen. It's a publishing event that means so much to all of us. Please can you get a message to Mr. McElroy to let him know who enthused and thrilled we all are? Thanks-thanks-thanks.
Michelle wrote: "I will indeed. thanks, Nick."Hi Michelle,
B&N just cancelled my pre-order for a second time. Do you know what is up with this?
Hi Trevor,Unfortunately, I'm not surprised. As I think I mentioned, we're distributing this book ourselves, which means it will not be available through any of the major online or physical retailers unless they call me up and order a few copies. I haven't heard from B&N yet, so it's likely they won't be able to carry it. Ordering through our website is the only reliable way to order a copy right now. I hope that changes over time. Sorry for the difficulty.

Thank you for the quick reply. Just ordered one through you guys. I wonder why B&N would list it in the first place based on what you said.

I've sent him a query to that effect. I'll post here again when I have information from Joe about whether that's a possibility.
