Week 4: Item called:Boots 12/21
Finished 12/23
This is # 20 in the China Bayles mystery series. I would classify these books as cozies. Generally the stories surround happenings with China who runs an herb shop but this time the central character was her friend Police Chief Sheila Dawson. When the local computer repair shop gets broken into and then later the shop owner turns up dead it is up to Sheila and her team to figure out what is going on. I enjoy these stories and consider them fluff. I will give it ★★★½'s.
Mist/Fog - The rain had stopped, but the air was damp and chill and tendrils of writhing ground fog clutched the trees page 179
Boots - He and Blackie had worn open collared white shirts, jeans and cowboy boots page 19
Tail - Khat sat down, curling his charcoal tail around his charcoal paws page 14
Cake - I know how grandma likes to cook. Bet you had cake for dessert, didn't you? page 126

Uhhgg. I realised how thankful I am that I haven't left the house in two days, when I went to take the trash out. There was still snow and only 19 degrees. Hope those of you who have to get out have better weather than me.

Week Four: 12/26/12 **** stars
Boots:(high buttoned boots)p. 21
Mist: (suspended in the air like a mist)p.240
Toe: (wriggled her toes)p.83
Shelf:(a narrow shelf of rock)p.132
Review
I should start by saying that I absolutely adore Marsha Canham and and love everything she has ever written. This is her foray into Western Romance and it is every bit as good as her pirate novels. But be prepared, she does not write politically correct romance. This is a swashbuckling tale of greed, lust, women wronged and men looking for vengeance (and women looking for vengeance as well). It is is big and complex and sometimes difficult. But so much fun! Enjoy at your own peril.

Enjoy the party, Leslie!

And Sheila, I don't know if you've ever read Marsha Canham, but she is an amazing writer. But there are definite scenes that make some women uncomfortable.

I will also be looking for Wind, Elbow and Glasses
I have been trying to work through several series and this is the next in line in the Sheriff Joanna Brady series. (One of my favorites)

Finished: December 30th

Review:
When I started reading this book, I was a little confused at first since like every chapter or few, the story kept jumping back between some character, but I eventually got used to it and was able to enjoy the continuation story of this series. I really liked this one a little more than the first book. I'm curious to see how what happens next for Karou, Akiva, and everyone else.
Items:
Boots: In her platform boots and vintage tutu, with her face upturned and fierce, in doll makeup with pink-dot cheeks and fluttery foil lashes, she looked every inch the "rabid fairy" that Karou had dubbed her. (Page 94)
Snow: "She was bloody all over, and barefoot in the snow." (Page 3)
Tail: He staggered, dropped to his knees, and they were on him with the butts of their swords, their heavy gloved fists and booted feet, and one whipping reptilian tail wrapped in chains. (Page 56)
Cake: "I made it earlier," Karou told them, much as she might say she had knitted a hat, or baked a cake. (Page 235)
(Now, off to find my bike book to read. I will post what I will read later.)

How bout the uncalled point for snow? I was the only one who hasn't claimed it yet until I read this book.

This book was pretty good for Kresley Cole's foray into Young Adult. She has created a dark and twisted post-apocalyptic world that drew me in from the beginning. The unique plot twist involving Tarot cards and the Major Arcana kept the story interesting. I was not familiar with either concept before reading this book so I found it intriguing. I look forward to finding out what the next book in the series has in store for Evie.

Week 5: Item called: Bike 12/28
Finished 12/31
This is # 7 in the Sheriff Joanna Brady series. In this book she finds herself chasing down the secrets of the family of an elderly widow who is found dead in the desert impaled on a cactus. She is concurrently involved in a local land dispute (graft and corruption) and trying to hold her personal life together.
The old lady collecting rattlesnakes in her car trunk to sell them to supplement her social security was a favorite scene for me. Never a dull moment for Sheriff Brady in Cochise County, Arizona. This one of my favorite series and I happily give it I give it ★★★★★'s.
Wind - Before Joanna could disengage it, the next gust of wind whipped the duster, cactus and all, against her shin. page 85
Elbow - Joanna reached for her leg, only to knock into another branch with her elbow page 85
Bike - She's up the street riding her bike. page 116
Glasses - My glasses, Alice realized at once. She had been wearing her glasses page 10

It looks like if Amy can find Rainbow and Leslie can find emergency vehicle next week we can grab another 2 uncalled points. We are re..."
I noticed that most of my books I currently have on hand don't use bike in them except for one so I'll have to see what else I can get out of there with the other items I have yet to claim.

And I am looking for bike and emergency vehicle and haven't been able to find them both. So at the moment I will be reading

Happy Reading Team 4! And Happy New Year!!
