I want to read queer classics. I'm horribly uneducated on queer history and am looking to fix that. Not necessarily just looking for classics with queer themes, but also ones by queer authors. My list so far:
Sappho's fragments (duh) The Picture of Dorian Gray The Importance of Being Earnest The Price of Salt
I have no idea what else. I have so many gaps I want to fill. Definitely hoping for more victorian literature and anything before that but I'm happy with any non-modern story. I'd also like to clarify I'm not looking for flat out romance stories, but literature that shaped the community and the world's view of queers. Yes, subtext is acceptable but only if it is truly relevant I only speak English so bear that in mind when choosing things that have needed to be translated...more
