“We must keep learning to broaden our horizons
Not everyone is born with the same aptitude or receives the same opportunities, but every person has the ability to learn about subjects that awaken interest and curiosity. When we explore something that genuinely fascinates us, we can gradually gather knowledge, gain experience and develop our abilities. Over time, this can help us become skilled professionals who understand the theory and possess practical competence and craftsmanship. Yet the moment we believe we know enough is often the moment when we need to start learning again. Technology, science and working methods now develop so rapidly that knowledge can become outdated within a short period. Anyone who wants to maintain quality and strive for perfection must therefore continue improving and remain open to new inventions, insights and techniques. Knowledge forms an essential foundation in our lives. Someone who temporarily has no money but possesses useful knowledge and skills can often create new opportunities and work their way out of difficult circumstances. Money can disappear, while knowledge enables us to rebuild value. When financial resources are available, they can also be invested in education, professional guidance and further personal development. Today, we are increasingly expected to present diplomas and certificates as proof of our theoretical knowledge and ability to learn. Practice, however, can be completely different from what is explained in books or classrooms. True expertise develops when theory, experience, insight, responsibility and adaptability are combined. Anyone who wants to begin something new must first investigate what is genuinely required. This may include a suitable location, a building, permits, a realistic budget, sufficient capital, reliable employees and knowledge of the market. The more we learn throughout our lives, the better prepared we become to make wise decisions across a wider range of situations. Broadening our horizons does not mean that we must know everything. It means recognising how much remains to be discovered and remaining willing to expand our understanding. Learning continuously and consciously gaining knowledge about our activities can lead to better choices, greater independence and stronger opportunities for lasting success. To remain confident in a rapidly changing world, we need more than knowledge and a little good fortune. Understanding the human side of society remains equally important. Technology may advance, but without respect, cooperation, responsibility and understanding, progress loses its true value. We must therefore continue learning, not merely to know more, but especially to become wiser and broaden our horizons throughout our lives.
