A Goodreads user asked:

Two questions: 1) Are there any steamy scenes? I'm getting tired of books where the love story between the main characters is almost platonic. Only kisses. Sex is part of a relationship, so I don't understand why most of the books avoid the topic. It doesn't have to be explicit. My God, no! 2) How many books will there be? p.s about question 1, it's not a critique to the book per se, because I'm loving it, FYI.

theStorykeeper Sex is NOT always part of a relationship (congrats on being acephobic!), especially not when teenagers are involved (which I'm assuming is the case here, as it's labeled YA)! If you want sex in books, there is a whole entire genre out there for you - they're called adult romance novels. Those of us who don't want to read about sex deserve a space, too.
Isabella Therese Thanks for asking this question, it has saved me a plethora of insulting comments! You took a bullet.
Jessie Steamy scenes you say...read Sarah J Mass, god the sex scenes in those books had me nearly vomiting...then gave me nightmares for a week...
Julia Lumina well, sex is definitely present in most relationships. (98/100 I'd say)
And teenagers, do actually have sex. age 15-16 and up for sure. It's the pivotal point of sexual exploration actually (ages 16-25)
Stephanie There is a large group on Tiktok who are all about how adults shouldn't be actively seeking sex scenes in YA literature, and I actually agree. The author's may be shying away from writing explicit scenes due to this or due to personal preference. As someone who is openly Asexual I actually really enjoy the lack of sex in the books, and would be more than happy for it to stay that way. That being said, if I really like the book I will read the scenes, but it wouldn't be the most important part of the book for me. I read for the story and the talent of the author, not the sex.

If you really want to read smut that badly try adult novels or fanfiction. But please leave YA as it is.
Ariela Strombeck I mean sex doesn't always have to be part of a relationship (see asexuals :). But in this book the romance does include some sex scenes, if that's what you like all the more power to you.
Carissa 1.) Yes.
2.) I believe this is supposed to be a duology. The next book is set to release in 2020.
Annette Dellosa Absolutely yes. :D
k omg, same! I love YA but like,, people have sex, y'know? It doesn't have to be explicit but don't skip over it. Even a fade-to-black scene will do it for me. The question wasn't offensive in any way, btw. Sex is indeed a part of most relationships, and it would be nice if YA authors implied it.
Potatoes_gonna_potate If you like steamy scenes I highly recommend the book "Pestilence" and "War" by Laura Thalassa :D
Asís YES THERE IS AND IT' AMAZING
Ray Try Nevernight by Jay Kristoff.
Basma Read from blood and ash if you want some interesting scene
ladybug dude Asexuals are present you know
Allegra D'Arcangelo sex does NOT have to be part of a relationship. please educate yourself on asexuality and sex repulsion
Mansi Hey.. I get what you talking about..! But if you like hot sex and I mean really hot sex that will burn your inside and keep you wanting more then do please try Suzanne Wright's Phoenix Pack and Mercury Pack Series.. The author takes passion and lust to a next level and I am still to find someone to write like it. Its fun, not disrespectful and also doesn't make you feel like it overdid it. ;P
