Jessie Omg, how old are you? 12? :D These scenes aren't perverse porn, but normal love scenes. Well... If you are a virgin, they can actually make you worse but wait until you grow up... :D
Jessie, sex is a normal part of life and it's totally normal for you to still be a virgin at 12 years old. It's important, considering today's age, that you actually know what it is and realize how fulfilling it can be. However, sex can still be risky. So take the example of Sarah J. Maas characters, and even the ones of Serpent & Dove, where the sex scenes are between people who love each other and RESPECT each other. It's normal that you frown upon it at your age, you're just 12 so it sounds disgusting. But sex is beautiful when it's between people that love and respect each other. You'll understand this when you do it. Until then, don't worry about it and, at 12, don't even think about it!
One more thing, I don't think you should yet be reading Crescent City, or even ACOTAR, for a simple reason: not because of the sex! but because it has themes and certain nuances you can't exactly grasp yet. I read ACOTAR when I was... 19? And looking back I know I didn't grasp a lot of things that now I probably would. Revisit these books when you're older :)
Thank you for the explanation Ana :). I don't really talk about things like sex, so it's a bit difficult to understand completely. This really helped! <3
No problem at all! If you want recommendations on fantasy books that don't depict sex or if you have any questions about whatever, you can DM me anytime! :)
Maybe don't explain sex to somebody else's kid. I'm not saying what you said was wrong but just maybe don't do it. I don't see a problem with a 12 y/o reading those books because every 12 y/o is different and some can handle it while some can't. However if the sex scenes give you nightmares and make you sick then you should definitely steer clear of books with that kind of content.
aw 12 is an innocent age... don't spoil it mind now.. look for YA tag without the. new adult tags... my daughter is close ish 12 n I definitely would not want her to read sarah j maas at that age

I don't love sex scenes. I feel that books make it so dependent on the "Steamy-ness" of it, so is SJMass worth it? How descriptive are the explicit scenes?
