Lynne I found this book to be completely confusing! I didn’t understand what really happened “after” and the ending? What actually happened? I felt so discombobulated when I finished reading this book...like I was left hanging on a cliff…nothing was resolved or clear?! I typically love her books, but this one not so much. Any help with my confusion would be appreciated!

Deana I think she gave us both stories had each ruling happened.

Gillian The author gave 2 versions...one for each way that the judgement could go
Tracy GH I must of re-read that last page 10x. I am assuming they re-married.
Jane Martens Your not stupid! I feel exactly the same way.

Debbie I think the last two chapters are open for interpretation. The second half of the book offers two alternatives to how this story completes. It is not a given that they remarry.
Viv Davenport I am so glad you have asked this as I am in exactly the same place! Like Tracy, I kept re-reading the last few pages. I'm all for the use of personal interpretation but it has left me feeling a bit dissatisfied!
Saadikah Yes, Pip remarried Max. It's very clear from the line "... and then from the front of the room, Lars" turns" to look at me...." If he was standing at the altar, he wouldn't have to turn. And Lars name is mentioned after Pip sees Tom, Alistair and Darcy, meaning she was looking at the guests first.

Further, Pip says she wanted to run towards the man she was marrying," although" it was Grace who sees Max and runs.

Pretty clear from the authors words used, but I had to re read that chapter again myself as it was confusing.
Elaine Okay so I’m not the only one confused by the court’s ruling and the outcome from there?
Erica Roberts At first I didn't think she remarried Max, I thought she married Lars, but it refers to Max, Grace and Pip becoming a family again, "just" them. I think she did remarry Max!
Samantha Nash I finished this book last night, and must ahve re-read that page 4 or 5 times. I'm no closer to an answer. My gut feeling is Max but it comes from nowhere. I thought the end of the book would more closely align
Jess I finished the book today. In her version, Pip remarries Max. In his version, he is going to marry Blair. At the end, the author leaves it open to “which path will they choose”. I feel like the two paths leading to two different endings that both work is pretty genius. We, the reader, get to decide which one we feel would have happened. It’s not a cliff hanger but an amazing revelation of how each choice leads to a different ending. I would have followed Pip in her unbelievably difficult decision and the ending for her story is perfect; however, in Max’s version the ending works too.
Valé I am totally confused whom Pip married in the end... everything pointed at Lars, then suddenly she was standing next to Max in front of the registrar. I don't get it. And which verdict did the judge go in favour at the end? This was what really tangled in the story and completely lost me at sea.
