In her version, Pip remarries Max. In his version, he is going to marry Blair. At the end, the author leaves it open to “which path will they choose”. I feel like the two paths leading to two different endings that both work is pretty genius. We, the reader, get to decide which one we feel would have happened. It’s not a cliff hanger but an amazing revelation of how each choice leads to a different ending. I would have followed Pip in her unbelievably difficult decision and the ending for her story is perfect; however, in Max’s version the ending works too. (less)
