I voted Lewis Carroll, but I wished I could have voted Charles Dickens at the same time! I LOVE them both! :)
The UK does not include Ireland. It includes Northern Ireland, which is completely different from the Republic of Ireland. James Joyce is from Dublin, which is the Republic of Ireland, so he's not British and shouldn't be on this list. If he's on it, then Victor Hugo or F. Scott Fitzgerald may as well be on it too.
