"I have always loved this book, as a child I read & reread it, longing for a world where the adults just left you on you. Then 4 yrs ago, my sister became very ill & was in a coma. I sat with her hour after hour, unable to bear to be away from her. Fearful that if I left the nurses would forget that someone desperately loved this woman. Maybe they would just let her fade away. I talked to her. I told her everything I knew, I begged her not to leave me here with Mom! And then, when i ran out of things to say, I brought 'The Secret Garden' with me & I read to her. Twenty one long days & my sister was that garden & slowly, without me realizing it she began to heal. What I wouldn't know for many months after she left the hospital & the Rehab she started to tell me her own story. About how I would come every day & take her places. Most of the places she says we went had nothing to do with the book...except that she knew. She KNEW! Somewhere inside, all that time she knew her big sister would come. She knew I would find her & she knew I would lead her home. And that is why 'The Secret Garden' is, to me, the best book ever written!"
