Man Booker International Prize: Eligible Books 2016
Update: Click here for the officially longlisted titles.
In the Goodreads tradition of the annual Booker eligible lists, this is a list of prospects for the new-style Man Booker International Prize, as merged with the Independent Foreign Fiction Prize (IFFP).
The award is for a single work of fiction, translated into English and published in the UK.
Both novels and short story collections are eligible for the International Prize.
Longlist: March 10, 2016 (12 or 13 books)
Shortlist: April 14, 2016 (6 books)
Winner: May 16, 2016
Judges: Boyd Tonkin (Chair), Tahmina Anam, David Bellos, Daniel Medin, Ruth Padel
A PDF of the prize rules is here.
If adding a title to this list, please bear in mind:
- Author and translator must be living at the time of the prize.
- Publisher must have its "principal place of business in the UK". (The translation may have been released earlier in other English-speaking countries, but never previously issued by any British publisher.)
- The book must have its first UK publication between 1 January 2015 and 30 April 2016.
- No retranslations, or reprints of translations previously published in Britain.
Thanks.

In explanation:
There was no UK address listed on the .com version of their website. Also, as a technicality it appeared to explain the otherwise surprising omission of recent Elena Ferrante books from IFFP longlist.

* Couldn't locate systematic catalogues for these publishers. I got their titles from the comprehensive English PEN 2015 preview and, where possible, "what's new?" or sort orders on the websites.
(The least user-friendly site for this was Portobello, which had some broken links.)
** Only had catalogues available for Autumn 2015, and it was hard to determine which titles were from earlier this year.
*** Only had Spring 2015 catalogues available.
Other publishers nominated in the IFFP in recent years:
Telegram - couldn't find new publications on their site
Constable & Robinson / Corsair - now part of Little, Brown - couldn't locate their catalogues
These may not be eligible now if the publisher's principal office has to be in the UK:
Dalkey
Yale University Press
Under the IFFP rules, the publishers just had to have an office in the UK.
------------
UK publishers other than those above release a few books of translated literary fiction every year - please do add those works if you know of any that fit the rules. The only reason they're not on here yet is because it's harder to locate those titles systematically, especially if you don't work in the book trade.
-----
Notes on a few titles omitted:
Inside the Head of Bruno Schultz (Pushkin) book includes short stories by the deceased Schultz as well as the titular novella.
Swallow Summer - Larissa Boening (Comma) - previously published in 2012 by Carcanet
Wondrous Physician - Jorge de Sena (Dedalus) - has a 1986 Everyman edition that appears to have been published in the UK
Modiano: Occupation Trilogy contains some work previously published in the UK; Pedigree appears to be a memoir

Checked same catalogues again & added extra titles.
No 2016 catalogues online yet for 4th Estate/Collins, Canongate, Dedalus and a few others.
Tried to find out about World Editions, sounds like new small press, but website down.
Titles from Haus Publishing added.
