One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was the first movie that I ever seen that had me totally interested in how the mind works in psychological ways. Now I am taking my Masters of Forensic Psychology and loving it. I hope others who read psychological thrillers learn the love of helping others too. Dave Pezler is my recent addition to learning about the abuse of children in America. Dave is an inspiration to many of us who have gone through even the slighetest bit of what he did with his mother, that good things do happen to good people. My heart goes out to all the wonderful things Dave has done for others.

You should add "The Anatomy of Evil" by Michael H. Stone.. I did not see it on this list.. It's a very, very good book dissecting the psychopaths and the insane with 22 levels of "evil", from justified to totally blows-you-out-of-the-water-evil. It also touches on subjects such as the brain and chemicals affecting a person's behavior; abuse at home; environmental influences, etc. Basically it boils down to.. what is "evil"?

The collection should be retitled "Books an undergraduate who took intro psych would consider important". This list is loaded with self-help, fiction, and memoir. A fraction of this is substantive or fit for graduate study. Just call it something else.

My biggest concern is that there are a number of fiction books that were foisted on the public as fact (A Million Little Pieces, Sybil, etc). Nevertheless they have had their impact on people's perceptions of reality, like it or not.
I actually overall appreciate the wide open nature of this list, as 1. Metaphor is often used in this field to communicate ideas(see T. Szasz, a Lexicon of Lunacy), so why not add works of literature that may be helpful and 2. One man's quackery is another man's world view, so a healthy discussion may involve competing or divergent schools of thought. Thanks for the list and I added a few reads from this list!

An absolute must read is Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief by Dr. Jordan B. Peterson.

Hello! Creator of the list here. I created this list when I had completed my bachelor's in Psychology and was working on a master's in Counseling. I went on to get another master's in Clinical. Unforutnately I can't control what people nominate and vote for, but the title is exactly as I envisioned this list to be.

Thank you for this list. Just wondering why you took masters in clinical after doing masters in counselling...Would it not be better to do a Phd or PsyD rather than doing another similar masters? Thank you :)

After receiving my master's in Counseling, I was accepted to a Clinical Psych Ph.D. program. I made it to year 4 before withdrawing. My advisor was a terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad person. :)

(but as I was in Year 4, I had already completed the master's degree required a part of my doctoral training). So, second master's!

Ah I see. But wouldn't it be better to call your supervisor a fallible human who made mistakes rather than seeing him as terrible, horrible, no-good person? You know how a therapist may help client to reduce his/her anger towards others..Just saying :)
