This is the first book I've read by Brandon Sanderson, and it was chosen for one of the Sword and Laser books. An interesting enough concept but I found myself skimming a lot. There is nothing here that would make me want to purchase the book or read it again, but I didn't hate it. The concept of Elantris was interesting, and I enjoyed the bits where they were figuring out the magic, and I liked the little floaty orb beings that also served as video conference calls. Ha!

ELantris took me on a pretty memorable journey. I was introduced to Sanderson through his Mistborn trilogy and, although you'd think I'd get used to the slow build-up in his novels after reading those, I found myself right back in the same boat.

An entertaining read, but definitely not Sanderson's best. I liked the world and the "magic" system in it and definitely wouldn't be against seeing more books based on it. I think Sanderson writes amazingly believable characters, and this book was no exception. I did feel like the story took a while to get going. There was more politics than anything in this book, especially at the beginning. The ending seemed to rush to make or for the lost time at the beginning. But it still moved along and ke

Not quite as "epic" as I thought it would be but still quite an achievement, especially for a first book. Still a must read for any Sanderson fan.
