Brandon Sanderson’s first novel Elantris has the advantage of being a standalone book (for the moment, there have been talks of sequels). There’s something extra satisfying about getting the whole beginning and end of a story in one go.
Elantris was Sanderson’s first novel and it’s a very capable outing displaying most of the things that people generally enjoy about Brandon Sanderson’s writing.

I tried. I just couldn't get into this one. LOVED the idea of immortality gone horribly wrong, but the rest just didn't seem to weave in as well as I'd hoped. :( Oh well.

I was really intrigued by the entire work and totally enjoyed reading it. Then, two days later, I found I could not remember plotlines or specific character names - usually a sign that that I have "been there, read that" many times. However, a great read!
