5 stars really doesn't give this book justice. Mr. Sanderson please take all the stars.

I did not want this book to end, hence the length of time it took for me to actually read it. I slowly savoured each chapter, page, paragraph, sentence, word...this was more then just a story, this was a connection, a forever with you always connection.

Thank you Brandon Sanderson for creating this world and these people. You made me smile, cry, love, hate. So many emotions, a sign of ...more

The debut effort from Sanderson (who went on to make his name as the guy who completed the Wheels of Time series) is disappointing as a whole. While he has some innovative ideas about magic systems and world building, the story is bogged down by one dimensional shallow characters (except for Hrathen), dull dialogues, and way too much focus on world building at the expense of character building. We are told how intelligent, crafty and appealing some characters are, but their actions don't live up ...more
