Love in high school is more difficult than love in the time of Romeo and Juliet. September 2023 - I reread for Reading Rivalry. The second time I read the book it bothered me a lot how Eleanor talked to/treated Park. You could see why that was happening based on how things were at her home, but I think equating that treatment with love can be problematic.

Eh. Rating this is hard - I thought that some parts were worth 5 stars and some worth about 1 1/2.

A wonderful story of teenage first love set against the awesome alt music background of the mid '80s. Eleanor and Park are a pair of Omaha misfits that figure out slowly, gently that they fit in perfectly when they are with each other. Beautifully and sensitively written. A superb book. ...more

Gut-wrenchingly good. Faulty characters that you have to love. Sigh. Sigh.
