My work is about empowering readers to take on the adventure called LIFE... to overcome the fears and go for for the extraordinary. You don't have to be Stanley, Harrer, or Heyerdahl to experience amazing adventures. In my adventure/life_skills book "Naked Determination, 41 Stories About Overcoming Fear" I am telling how I traveled almost 100,000 miles. These pictures depict the building of ice sculptures and buildings for the International Ice and Snow Festival Harbin, 1987. These are historic pictures; today the sculptures are being with with huge cranes and other machinery. Lower Austria, where I grew up... Like I write in my book 'Naked Determination': "... The little town Waidhofen an der Ybbs, where I grew up lies about one hundred miles west of Vienna, Austria. Located in the Alpine foothills, Waidhofen is enchanting, adorable, and picturesque. Actually, picturesque is too little of a word. The historic inner city core is nestled between the remnants of old medieval city walls… charming baroque houses and little shops line the two markets places. The town even has a castle and a steam train. Absolutely everything looks like the backdrop for a model railroad. Which was exactly how I felt about my hometown – everything about it was a miniature something. In the 60’s the town did not even have a single traffic light. It was a secluded world between mountains..."
