I think you're thinking of ether Catherine. *Hint* What do we use morphine for today?

That's right...it's spelled laudanum...and what did they use laudanum for?

In An Echo in the Bone, Claire is reading to Jamie about a substance that should not be put on head wounds because it would dissolve sutures. What is the substance called in the book and what is it's normal usage?

Yeah, Jamie was really getting rich off her! Is it my turn to come up with a question?

His ear, Ian did and it was in retalation for Forbes abducting Brianna

I just bought my copy of
Tatiana and Alexanderso I guess I'm committed. I'm on page 160 of TBH. For some strange reason my public library has
The Summer Gardenbut not the first two.

I was poking around looking at the books online and found this
Tatiana's Table: Tatiana and Alexander's Life of Food and LoveThey are asking some big bucks for used copies of this book. Has anyone seen it and is it expensive because it's extremely rare?

Hmmm, well yes that is too long a wait. Hopefully I can find them at the used bookstore or library. I've been reading Amazon reviews and it seems the second book was pretty well received but the third one not so much.
Sandy wrote: "I am a little more than halfway done and really loving this book! I have the next two on my wishlist at paperbackswap.com. They've been on the wishlist since April!"Sandy,
How long is the wishlist?

I know I said I wasn't going to read it right now but TBH has sucked me in. I'm on page 76 and thinking about calling in sick tomorrow...lol.

I picked up a copy of this book at HPB today for $3.99. Not sure if I can read it with you all this month but just wanted to share my good fortune.

Here's my Jamie!
I just read that Diana prefers Ewan McGregor to Gerard Butler as Jamie. If they do make the movie, I bet they cast a complete unknown.

I'm in the Gerard Butler camp myself and to me Claire looks like Diana Gabaldon only with wildly curly hair...lol.

I went to the Biltmore tonite to hear her speak...very fun. She had a grand entrance, dressed head to toe in red, with a tartan plaid and accompanied by a man in a kilt, playing bagpipes. I'd say there were about 200 people there, mostly women of course but a few male fans and the lady next to me had flown over from California just for the event...now that is a dedicated fan!

I need to get back over to the store to see if it's still there. Just too much rush, rush with the holidaze.

Yes, the dust cover was still on it and it was in good (but not fine) condition

I was at an antiquarian bookstore yesterday and they had a first edition hardcover of Outlander, signed by the author (actually it was personalized to someone) and said, "I hope the man in your life is your Jamie" and it was dated 1999....price $50. Worth it?

I live in Phoenix but don't know yet whether I can go.

You mentioned that you thought they might not hold up with regular wear. What are they made of?
