There is a Brit writer that I love, her name is Morag Joss and she won a CWA Silver Dagger Award for this book
Half Broken Things Sorry, off topic.

I just finished TSG on my lunch hour and I totally loved it. The part you're referring to Mimi was hard to read but I think it added to the story that Alexander was so weak without Tatiana. And as far as being archaic, this was the 1950's so typical of that time I think. Not many women worked right after the war was over or so my mother told me.

I just picked up the first audiobook in The Mists of Avalon series called Mistress of Magic. I'm really excited because it's narrated by Davina Porter who also reads the Outlander series.

Good to know Carol. I've read
The Tea Roseand loved it also. Yes, it's a series but I am sitting here looking at the next one
The Winter Roseand the synopis does not mention the same characters so I don't know how closely they are tied.

Just stumbled on this and wondering if anyone has read this trilogy.
Dark BirthrightDark LordDark Destiny

My house was built in 2009 so not likely although I'm sure Alexander would have been stronger at an advanced age than most men :-)

I do have to say I am thoroughly enjoying
The Summer Garden. Since I live in Phoenix, Simons knowledge of the geography here is really making the story come alive for me. To think, T&A lived just a few miles from my house...lol.

Ahhh, an unintentional spoiler...lol.

Despite it's controversial subject matter, I would like to nominate

Finished T&A and going to the library tomorrow to pick up The Summer Garden.

I've got to hurry up and read T&A. My library just notified me that they are holding
for me and they'll only hold it for 10 days. No time for reading this time of year!

True but
(view spoiler)[ she wasn't drunk the next morning and she doesn't seem overly horrified with herself...even showing her naked body to Lord John and it seems she is even thinking about doing it again when she wonders what Lord John's lover's reaction might be. Oh Claire, you disappoint me so...lol (view spoiler)[ (hide spoiler)] (hide spoiler)]

I agree with you Kelly....I am feeling like I don't know Claire at all!
(view spoiler)[ I can understand her marrying Lord John to protect her family but sleeping with him? I mean, how long has she thought Jamie dead, it can't be more than a few weeks. And I don't buy that finding comfort and solace in each other's arms bull. I think Gabaldon missed the mark on this one...it's just so out of character for Claire. I am about 120 pages into T&A and I am almost to the end of An Echo in the Bone. I just realized that in both series I am at the point where
(view spoiler)[ the heroine thinks that her husband is dead (hide spoiler)] I love these series but I guess they do tend to be a bit formulaic.

I got my T&A in the mail today. I knew there was a reason I didn't start a new book...lol. Yay...this is the first time through for me so I can't wait to read it.

OK, looks like I did it. I just wanted to respond to Sarah. There is another part where
(view spoiler)[Dasha tells Tania that she and Alexander have not been together since November. Don't you get the feeling that in the struggle just to stay warm and survive that sex was soon forgotten. (hide spoiler)]

Let's see if this works for me
(view spoiler)[Does this work? (hide spoiler)]

I have about 50 pages left to read. Since I don't know how to hide the spoilers, I will just say that this is the first book in a long time that has made me cry. I am really invested in these characters. Hope my T&A arrives soon so I can continue the saga over the holidays.

Sue, right you are!
