the only way to not get bummed is to not finish it - savor it"

So was it a fast read? If you had the other half, would you want to finish it in one sitting? Is it too fast? I get a bit fed up with books that seem to dwell on stuff that isn't important but on the other hand I don't want to skimp on important things... It's a fine balance. A writer wants the read to be satisfying so that when you finish, you regret that it's over but feel good that you read it.

YAY! That's good to know! Gives me hope that there will be an audience for the book. Of course, I write because I love to write but I also want readers who like it. Otherwise I'd never bother to put it out there.

I hope first readers will answer the questions I posed about the first chapters and characters and the like. It will help me to know how it is being received.

The first half is key to getting people to keep reading. The first line, the first paragraph the first page, the first chapter, the first half -- they are all key in their own way. A writer's goal is to keep readers turning the page. Once you put a book down you are less likely to pick it up again and so it's crucial to know where the book lags and if there is enough drama or interest to pick it up again when you must put it down, like to sleep or eat or live your life and stuff. ;)

It's just really hard to read with the line breaks. Will work on it a bit.

Oh does it look smug? I thought it looked "knowing" like he can see right inside of you and know your dirty thoughts... but maybe that's just me. ;) LOL! The man sure can emote...

I can send you the PDF asap if you email me but I'm really struggling with the Mobi file. Still haven't fixed the formatting problem -- the document conversion puts in line breaks for some reason...

OH GOODY! I am much happier with it. When you start writing something new, you're still "finding" it for yourself. That's why it's so important to get some feedback even early on in case you go off the rails at any given point. I tend to trust my muse but sometimes, my judgement is left behind when the writing gets going. So honest feedback is so necessary. Thanks to you and Michelle!

Mobi works for Kindle but I'm having format issues with the manuscript. Don't ask me why -- I've done this dozens of times. I'd have to send you a PDF but I think you can still read a PDF on Kindle... Let me check.

89768 The first half of the novel is ready to be beta read -- first readers requested! It's been extensively revised since I posted the first chapters a while ago. Different tense, different POV, different opening but still the same premise and characters. If you want to be a beta reader, let me know. Send a message or an email.

He's not entirely bad - he's bad and tortured and way too ancient and powerful not to manipulate everyone and everything to get his endgame. He loves Michel ... He can't be all bad...;)

To do their lives justice there would have to be 5 or even 7 books... Julien as a pirate and Michel as a vampire hunter in London, them both during the renaissance and Reformation, the French Revolution and the modern era...

Lol - getting way ahead of myself!
