88432 A quick list of tasks for the challenge that are still open:
Only 24 books left for the main challenge! :)

Mini challenge:
2B - Read a new to you author
8B2 - G - covered
14B2 - Only a head on the cover - Sisa
15B2b - G - covered
17B2b - A - covered
18B2b - C - Sisa
21B2b - read a book that's #10 or higher in a series - Megan
23B2ba - Connect a book to book #1 in the series of your team name
24B2ba - Connect a book to book #2 in the series of your team name
25B2ba - Connect a book to book #3 in the series of your team name
30B2ba - Connect a book to book #3 in the series of A DIFFERENT team name - Daniela

I think it's the default cover. But tbh I'm a bit unsure, this confuses me a bit.

is Ignite really a grey cover? To me it's just a black and white picture. One of the co-captains put it in the mini-challenge already. Can we get confirmation for that, as I'm not 100% sure this works?

88432 So with my current reads I can cover: 4B, 26B1aa and 27B1aa

I am also almost finished with The Mysterious Affair at Styles (Hercule Poirot, #1) by Agatha Christie and wonder if a character finding a dead person is considered as receiving a shock. Otherwise it can count for 6B

88432 Yes let's do B for sure - we can still argue about wether to do B2ab or B2bb haha

True. We could do B - B2 - B2b - B2ab

I am currently reading the 4th book in the Nancy Drew series and can do the 5th as well for sure.

88432 but especially for those who can't read as much (including myself), read for whatever task you find a book if you want to. I'm sure we can finish this mini challenge as well!

Apr 15, 2019 06:45AM

88432 we do not need to read in order BUT we have to finish a stream for the next one to count. so f.e. if we finish B2BB but not B2B, we won't get points for B2BB

so it would be good to start with the first two streams and work our way to the end if possible. If a book can be used for more than one task we can always move it anyways :)

And yes, books count from now on! (I think since around 3-4 hours)

I understand your concern, if you say you rather read Stream B it's fine to me. Everyone else said they don't really mind in the end :)

we'd have to ask that. But I'm sure goodreads has categories for those?

If you think B will be better for reading, then we go for that :) as I said, you and Jackie get the last call as you read the most. But we should decide today as books finished from now on can be used for the mini challenge

88432 I am still reading The Mysterious Affair at Styles (Hercule Poirot, #1) by Agatha Christie and it would totally work for 4A - read a book with H - A - T in the title

And another book I'm reading can work for both 12A1 or13A2 - so really depends in which direction we are going lol

You all have time until TOMORROW when the mini challenge officially starts - if we stick with Stream A (the same goes for Stream B), do you want to go down the road of A1 or A2? and further, depending, A1a/A1b/A2a/A2b? And so on ..

If I don't get suggestions, or if you don't really care, I say we go with Christinas plan as this story line is fun --> A - A2 - A2b - A2bb

But just have another look at the spreadsheet to decide

88432 as Christina mentioned, Jackie and Megan read the most, so I'll wait on Megans opinion before deciding.

but at the moment I'd say the tendency is towards stream A. I'll give it until tonight (that's like in 10 hours for me) so we can start looking for books and reading :)

88432 Please everyone have a look at the spreadsheet I linked above, to see which path you'd like to follow :)

I think is best to vote on it and take the stream with most votes

88432 APRIL - CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE

This is an optional mini challenge for our UNO players.

◈ Books with a read date between April 15 - April 30 count. (countdown to the start of the mini challenge is here)
◈ Books can be started at any point since the start of the UNO challenge (Feb 1)
◈ As a team, you will have a mixture of tasks to complete. These include spell-it-outs, cover items, words in text, and words in title. All of the tasks you need to complete are on your team spreadsheet

How to Choose your own adventure

As you are out on a walk, a pedestrian is hit by a car that then drives away! :o
Do you...
A) Stick around to see if you can help
B) You are too engrossed in your book while walking through the park to notice anything amiss until you hear shouts.

…..

First your team will decide if you are going down stream A or stream B. From there you are given two choices at each point. We have shown these choices on this image:

description

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU FOLLOW THE STREAM CORRECTLY We have given lots of prompts in the spreadsheet and also have a sheet that shows the different combinations. NOT FOLLOWING CORRECTLY WILL RESULT IN NOT RECEIVING POINTS FOR THE TASKS INCORRECTLY COMPLETED.

◈ Books used for this mini challenge do not need to be separate books for what you are claiming for your UNO hands
◈ The usual book length rules apply
◈ Team spreadsheets will be updated with a mini challenge tab so that you can track your books and claim your points
◈ Each task completed will give you 10 points. Once your stream is complete, you can also complete 10 duplicate tasks for 20 points each.
◈ You can read for your tasks and bonus tasks concurrently, but the bonus points won't be given until your stream is completed.
◈ If you read concurrently, but don't complete a branch of your stream, you won't get points for later parts. For example, if you choose A - A1 -A1a - A1aa ; and you read books for A1aa, but don't complete A1a.... you won't get those points for A1aa

Spell-it-out rules
For this mini-challenge, you are using the same rules that apply for UNO. So a letter needs to be the first letter in the book title, author first name or surname, character name or nickname, or setting. Articles (a/an/the) can be ignored in the book titles. For this spell-it-out, you can also use the first letter in the series name.

American Gods was a bit weird. His short stories are great. And Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman & The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman were amazing!
