8565 Poison study is a really good book, Susan. Hope you enjoy it. :)

Thanks. I always like to check out the books if I like the quote. :)

Ooh, I need to read Mockingjay, the only one I haven't finished. I think I will use that one.

I really like this quote, Tara. Can you post what book it is from?
8565 I forgot to post a quote from my first book, but here is one from the current book, Bellman & Black: A Ghost Story:

William fidgeted with the cloth he had separated from the rest. He looked as if he was making up his mind to something.
"His blue is good, Uncle. His black is good. The other colors are hit and miss because his dye cupboard is a shambles and he doesn't keep proper records."
Paul put his head in his hands, and William started to look like a man who had said mare than he should.
"You have been into Mr. Lowe's dye cupboard."
"Yes."
Paul felt weary to the core. He was more than willing to defend his nephew against he father, but he needed William to meet him halfway. The boy showed no remorse, though, and had no sense of the boundary he had transgressed.

"It was raining when Rahel came back to Ayemenem. Slant..."

It seems like the author was trying to hard for "lyrical prose" or to be too poetic. Sometimes that fits, sometimes it doesn't.

8565 Congrats to Karen (the Bookworm) for completing the challenge by reading 24 books and completing your book title.

Congratulations, also, to all who completed the challenge, and those of you who attempted it.
8565 Sorry I have been missing lately. I'm not sure anyone missed the quote thread anyway, but I still like to see them. Leave a quote here from your Contemporary reads and let us know how they went.

8565 And another one - The House on the Cliff: A Novel by Charlotte Williams.

My first finished book of 2014. this was a contemporary book of the gothic mystery type. I thought it was an entertaining read, but totally predictable. 3 stars.

8565 I actually got to read a book for this month's shelf! It was The Candidate: A Luxembourg Thriller By Daniel Pembrey

A quick, but enjoyable political thriller. In fact, I enjoyed it enough that my biggest complaint is that it was too short. I think both a longer story and more detail would have made it a 4 star book. 3 stars

I have heard great things about Jeffrey Deaver. He is one of those authors I have on my TBR to read. Thanks for the update. I have posted it to the top record.

It was great, but SO busy. I thought it was going to be more relaxing, but no such luck. Lots of family and fun though. I am now back and renewed.

Hope your Christmas was great, too, Tien.

8565 Sorry I have been missing again all. December was a blur for me. I believe I have the list above updated for everyone's books, but if not, let me know and I will make the changes. :)

Another neat title on your list...I think number 9 is really an interesting title. Have you ever read People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks? The main character is a person who restores ancient manuscripts and she finds all kinds of interesting things between the pages of the book she is working on. That always fascinated me.

Adrienne - I really want to read number 10 on your list. It sounds really good.
