8565 Come join the fun! Sign Up for Cycle #6 of the Pick Of The Shelf game. The schedule for this cycle is:

Sign-ups 2/1 - 2/7 (or there abouts)
Recomendations (2/7 - 2/14)
Reading 2/18 - 3/31

Theme: War

Remember, when signing up please list:
1. How many books you want to read during the cycle
2. What shelf you want the books picked off of.
8565 Talk about lazy...I perused what you all had listed, and here is what I have on my shelves:

Me Before You
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
Tell the Wolves I'm Home
The Night Circus
Heart of Darkness
Blindness
I Am the Messenger
The Help
Mockingjay

I think I will start with Me Before You, Tell the Wolves I'm Home, and/or I Am the Messenger
since they fit into other challenges that I am doing.

I think I'm going to finally read Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston."

Another good book. I hope you enjoy it Candiss. I did.

Life After Life was one of my few 5 star books for last year and definitely deserves to be on the thought provoking shelf. I wish I had it to read still. Amazing book.

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan is amazing, Bea. I would highly recommend it.

It sure is, otherwise known as Goodread's "to-read" shelf, or IF you are like me and a bit OCD, it can be whatever shelf you have set up as your shelf of books you want to read.

Chris - both of my boys read a lot of Brian Jacques and Anamorphs books.

Yep, I plan to work on it tomorrow, if not this afternoon. I did already pick the theme person for cycle 6, but haven't heard from her and I was not able to send her a PM.

Tien - are you able to send her a note? If so, could you confirm with her. If we can't get in touch with her I will pick another person.

8565 A while ago I finished Bellman & Black: A Ghost Story by Diane Setterfield. Although I liked the story and the characters, it was nothing like The Thirteenth Tale. Plus I can't for the life of me understand why it is called a ghost story. That lead me to expect something else.

I'm still giving it 3.5 stars, probably wold give it 4 if it the title hadn't of set my expectations in another direction.

So - you were randomly selected as the theme picker for Cycle 6, which will be starting on Saturday. I tried to send you a message, but couldn't. Let me know what you want the theme to be for the next cycle.

8565 Sounds like an interesting book, Tien.

I have read The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, too and agree, it is much different than the movie, but interestingly so, I think, I'll bet the discussion of it and Wicked together was something.

Lol, Tien....I think it is kind of self-explanatory.
8565 Wow Susan, you are a reading machine. I love the quotes you left. How did you like Wicked? I tried to read it years ago, but just could not finish it.

I also love the way you explained leaving out the character name in Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac, too.
