Thanks for sharing, Seth! 2019's open calls should have something of interest to this S&S group!

awesome banner Seth - and thanks for listing all the banners together! I will share on RBE's FB and website :)

Y'all should, he's a great fellow. I've enjoyed several conversations with him at WFC and at cons in Chicago, where he almost always attends. Enjoyed dinner with him one night as well. That's how me and my mates got ourselves listed among the dead in his last book :)

Jack, I've had that Cook book for a bit, bought it from the man himself. Keep looking at it on the shelf; really gotta read it.

Been reading all year the entire CrossGen catalog which I bought end of last year. I'm almost 200 comics into the 500+, so not finishing in 2018. Enjoyed SIGIL, some of THE NEGATION, and am currently reading THE FIRST, which has the worst art thus far, so it's a bit distracting unfortunately. I am looking forward to getting to SOJOURN and most especially BRATH. It's sad reading these now and seeing all the promise in the young comic comp while knowing they crashed and burned away within years.

So -- RBE has at least one new anthology in time for the annual anthology JAN-FEB groupread 😎 this one is CRAZY TOWN Crazy Town: A Dark Anthology of Fantastical Crime Noir (Rogue Blades Presents)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KDSJM4R/...BUT - I'm cheating, as it's not a S&S title unfortunately. I'm bringing it up here to make an offer - I'd like reviews pretty please. But I also need money to pay authors for the next titles. So here's my deal to this groups members: if you post a review on Amazon/Goodreads, I'll send a free ecopy to the person of your choice. Actually, I'll stand by that offer for CHALLENGE! DISCOVERY as well. Just send me a link to your review and the email address of your gift recipient. Thanks for all your support!

Yes, indeed, this is good stuff!

That is rather cool, congrats on that Matthew.

Sorry, but I've always found these crossovers with Conan dumb. I was mildly interested in the Conan/Wonder Woman, I can find that one at least feasible, but I still was Nah.
Martin wrote: "I'm currently working my way through a new anthology of S&S/adventure fantasy tales Blackest Knights which may be of interest to others here."very interesting, thanks for sharing Martin!

New blood is always a delightful addition to the conversation - welcome y'all!

While back I did it two years running with my usual seat-of-the-pants writing. Got great amounts of words done, but did not 'win' either year. Decided to outline for the first time in my life for the 3rd year. Outlined rather well I thought, got a thorough 3 pages all prepped for Nov 1...typed like a bandit racing cross country for a few days...then quit. I was bored outta my gourd, nothing I was typing was surprising me or even exciting me though it did when I outlined it. I had no enthusiasm to carry me or the story forward.
So while I've never completed a NaNo, I have learned a very valuable personal lesson by attempting NaNo: Outlining does not work for me.

BTW - I will answer to Wilt. Nothing further.

Honestly, Jarod, pretty much others label your genre, for better or worse, lol. The library, the bookstore, the critics, the reviewers, and finally the readers. You can call the big picture, umbrella labels, but everyone else gets to call the particulars.

I can decode only us 3 unfortunately. Drought, Wilt, & Sergeant Poor. Since Erikson first said he'd use us, he determined our names. My bud Drought (real name) obviously fits MBOTF perfectly. Our other buddy's name is Rich, so Erikson said 'You're Sgt Poor. ' Then he looks at me and says my name is the only challenge, it doesn't fit... Wilt, I'll call you Wilt.
So... I'm so damn bad I can't improve any more than I already am. 😁😆

So got a little news for y'all: I and 2 of my mates can now proudly strut the annals of time as once members of The Black Company. That's right - we are listed among the deceased members tombstones in PORT OF SHADOWS. My name does not quite resemble my own, but it is the name bequeathed me by none other than Steven Erikson, who also promised to slay the three of us in an upcoming book.
My life is full - I have made it into a book beyond the copyright, title, and dedication pages.

As to your other observations --
I agree on the idea that REH could be the father 'all by his lonesome.' I do actually have no qualm including Leiber as co-parent since he much more directly and in much closer conjunction was writing it and fleshing it out. I take nothing away from the expansion Moorcock brought, but he brought it 20 years later and then another 5 or so years later asked, 'Hey, what do we call this stuff we're writing?' Never struck me as being very parental and all :)
A.R. wrote: "I would be interested in this when it's completed. Jason, is there a timetable on when you are trying to get the book completed?"Thanks, A.R.! And wonderful question I do not have an answer to! I truly do wish to do another nf title. This was exploratory discussion, and I am very interested in doing this title, but there is no timeline as of yet. If I go the route I'm thinking, I have to learn how to -- and then accomplish -- soliciting permission from estates and such.

Nice friend! Does he need any more? 🤠
