Thank you, Jason! And all y'all here - I may not comment here as much as I'd like or should, but I love keeping up with y'all and sharing in your explorations, writings, and finds. I will always keep my Goodreads peeps up to date :)

80482 Jack, I've long wondered about Mallus Darkblade, so I'll look for your full report!

Facebook announcement and full cover...since I can't figure out how to share the cover here

80482 Spectacular banner design as usual, Seth! Thank you for all your work on this group! I love it!

80482 Do they have to share names on the same title?! That'd be difficult :)

I'm guessing not and suggesting:
Raymond
Raymond Swanland http://www.raymondswanland.com/Pages/Gallery01.html
Raymond E. Feist* or
Ray[mond] Ray Bradbury

unless anyone knows of an artist named 'Fritz'...

*I know, I know, not truly all that S&S, but I wanted Swanland, so my options were limited :)

80482 I'm setting sail with Poul Anderson's HROLF KRAKI'S SAGA.

80482 Very cool! What surprised you so much?

80482 love the way S&S is vividly embraced throughout the discussion! strikes me as an odd combo, yet I'm excited at the promised storytelling.

I'll be interested to see what you share about how heroic the stories are.

80482 Started Norvell Page's Flame Winds at the pool. Lots of rhapsodic fun thus far!

Thanks for the review, Joseph! Having glanced at several of the others, I am grateful someone literate in S&S took the time to offer analysis. I'm just beginning to read the anthology myself, and agree with your idea that "Forging & Shaping, which has the oldest stories and could almost be taken on its own as one of those old L. Sprague de Camp anthologies"...or a continuation of Offutt's original Swords Against Darkness series :) I look forward to reading it.

80482 Ralan's http://ralan.com/ is the best by-far for all SpecFic markets. Enjoy the hunt!

EDIT: Ha! My phone feed was delayed, didn't see Martin had already suggested Ralan. He's so good though, I don't rescind my suggestion :)

Wow, are you in for some good introductions then! I'll enjoy learning which authors - and stories - excite your S&S genes.

80482 Howdy David!

Great group read description, Seth. I'm one of those guilty of mostly never chiming in, but usually because I'm most often catching up on my phone and the app is a very poor way to interact easily here. If I'm on my laptop it is much simpler and more efficient...but then that also means I'm not accomplishing the task I'm on the laptop for, something that has become my bane all to often!

David, for what it's worth, despite being a poor contributor to the group reads, I love the concept and ensuing conversations they generate. Even if I don't read that particular topic that session, I have often read within it shortly thereafter. Just a fun way to learn of more authors/titles/opinions.

80482 So are you recommending this series? I am not aware of it, though I do vaguely recall her name. Interesting she's been absent for a decade. Is book 5 to be the end to the series?

80482 I love SSOC, though I've been collecting them individually. I can't not have those awesome covers. I originally aimed to collect all the issues edited by Roy Thomas (first 79 if I recall correctly), and all the covers that I enjoy. I am nowhere near complete yet, I come across them so sporadically, but I have over 50 of them now. It's fun to discover them. Also very fun to read the letters!

80482 should be called SWORDS AGAINST DARKNESS V. love the lineup, only missing Gemmell. yes, weird cover art choice.

80482 interesting and agreeable, Mary. 'Lumping' seems to occur in most, if not all, magics.

Really enjoyed your description of your system, Matthew. I like the majority of it, and much of it actually bears resemblance to a system I have created in one of my worlds, though it has not yet seen the light of publication. Thanks for sharing.
