80482 And if anyone wants insight on Cook's writing style and characters (and you haven't yet read Writing Fantasy Heroes), he has an excellent essay titled "Shit Happens in the Creation of Story, Including Unexpected Deaths, with Ample Digressions and Curious Asides" that sheds light on his methods.

80482 and they were influenced by Glen's Vietnam time, Joseph. Yes Seth, begin with The Black Company. I have not yet read but keep adding the titles to my TBR, but I wish to read his Instrumentalities of the Night also.

And I absolutely love Swanland's art!

80482 Slaine! I've been looking to read him but can't find anything around Milwaukee and online seems a tad expensive. any suggestions?

80482 I'm also very interested in collecting the entire Brath series. a friend gave me a single issue and I was a big fan of the doomed Cross Gen artists/artwork, that issue hooked me. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brath_... ... if anyone has the two collections, let's talk :)

80482 wow, those are all collections! I had no clue there were so many. gotta start saving my money.

80482 I found Slaine very cool and would read more than the 2 issues I have if I could find 'em.

80482 Almost finished with Andy Remic's CLOCKWORK VAMPIRE CHRONICLES omnibus. it's bloody and dangerous and entertaining, but dude's not a very good writer and whoever thinks he or this series can honestly satisfy any Gemmell fan is insane. outside of age and axe, Kell has nothing in common with Druss.

80482 Great pick Sean, if I say so. looking forward to your thoughts on it.

80482 Yes, another awesome banner Seth - you are quite talented at this :) And thanks for the nod to RBE with the Aella inclusion!

80482 welcome Elise - I've found your discussions interesting in several places recently, Goodreads and Facebook, very deep and mostly in line with my own thoughts. I just wanted to comment on your reading of Anderson's BROKEN SWORD... be sure to read the original, not the pansy version he reissued 20 some years later.

RBE's latest release is available on Amazon in print and Kindle formats! Sword-slinging heroines, nasty demons, ancient gods alongside self-confidence, friendship, and love. Yep, it all works! Come get you some! :)

80482 DARKNESS WEAVES was delightful folks! Thank you for inciting me to finally read some more Kane :)

I enjoy the character of Kane quite a bit, but boy is he willing to stoop to some rather low lows. It was a pleasure to watch him enjoy a sidekick throughout most of this tale, as often these characters are simply tossed aside or killed outright.

As I said in my review though, I think it would have been very cool to read at least one account of a successful Kane adventure. While his machinations are many and deep and often the root of his own foul ups and failures, playing the game as long as he's done should have resulted in at least a few victories. Of course, time can turn anything to ashes and Kane's certainly eaten his share of dryness.

I heartily recommend this Gothic/Lovecraftian horror-ancient races sciences-blood soaked swashbuckling S&S novel!

80482 Michael:
I like the art in cover 1 better, but cover 2 appears to be a better representation of the contents. Go with what represents the story best - for you & for readers that don't have a clue on what's inside.

80482 Legend of the Red Reaper

coming in June 2014...and RBE just so happens to be very shortly releasing the prequel novel co-authored by the movie writer/director/actress Tara Cardinal and Alex Bledsoe (of noir S&S fame).

80482 Hmm, I've added this title to my wish list!

80482 Thoroughly enjoyed me some Kane in the DEATH ANGEL'S SHADOW, which kicked off with a great romp with werewolves, followed by a crusading vigilante fun-fest, and closed with a dreamy visit with vampires. The last was good but my least enthralling as it seemed KEW strove for a different, less palatable (to me) style of writing I did not enjoy near as much as the first two.

I'm now a third of the way through DARKNESS WEAVES and thus far quite enjoying myself.
