I loved both of those books!

I'm super excited to be one of the new Mods here. Busy as a Bee Books has been my primary book club for many years, and I've made a few fantastic friends through this group. I am happy to see a few of the folks who posted often several years ago resurface as Amy, Tanya, Petra and I have been starting to chat in various topics. I'm kind of hoping we can create a Homecoming Week atmosphere and we hear from lots of Bees again.
A little about me...I'm a married mother of 2 teenagers (gah!!!!) My son Gabe is 15 and will be getting a license soon - which terrifies me. Gabe loves to write and draw. My daughter Kasia is 13 and loves to play Volleyball, piano and bake. Neither are big readers, much to my dismay. I work for the Social Security Administration in Grand Forks, ND, and I read as much as I can when I'm not working or running a Mom's Cab Service.
My reading life is a little eclectic. I don't read much non-fiction. I probably read 75 fiction books to every non-fiction. I love sharing books and picking titles for people. Stephen King, Margaret Atwood, Mary Doria Russel, Richard Russo, John Irving, John Sandford and JK Rowling are among my favorite authors.
I rode 800 miles to Wichita Kansas to see Stephen King speak with two of my dearest friends. That is still one of my favorite memories.
When I'm reading, I like to have a glass of wine by my side...but sometimes it's water. Or coffee. Or coke. It may be a bag of white cheddar popcorn (aka Popcorn Crack).
That's a start...for the unabridged Karli, you can dust off my old topic in The Bees where I talked all about what was exciting on that day of my life spanning back a few years. :)
If you want to add me as a GR friend, I'm happy to accept - I'm looking forward to getting to know lots of you.

She writes such moving, sad stuff. I picked up a book last year, and one of the main characters was suffering from Primary Progressive Aphasia, which is an awful form of dementia that my Dad had. It's almost comforting to know that there are others who have navigated these awful circumstances.

I loved reading that with you, Elizabeth! I think that is definitely a book to read with others - it wouldn't have been nearly as interesting to read in a vacuum, IMO.

Thanks, Lisa.

I loved Little House on tv while I was young too...but when my daughter discovered it on Netflix and started binge-watching it, I found it nearly unbearable.
