Okay so the Spanish is throwing me a bit off. Some words I know, some I do not, which also makes me think that books that use a second language like this... simpler/mostly used words should be better as there's a higher chance of the audience knowing them.
Also another thing.. if you use a word in Spanish don't switch it to English three words later. Only if the author wanted to make the difference between men en pecado and women in sin, which I don't see the reason for.. if you see same sex relationships as sin, then does it matter if it's mxm or fxf?
I don't have any special thoughts on this story. I'm glad there's trans representation..but also it was short? I mean, I know it's a short story, but I guess I expected there to be more.

I feel underwhelmed by this one. I didn't mind the writing, and the world could be interesting in a long run, however it's too short for me to have a longer opinion on it. The fighting scenes were interesting, and I would've liked to see more of the trials. The insta love is an automatic no for me, I'm with Raquel on this one - Can't buy it.
The Scarlet Woman
I haven't read the Gemma Doyle books, but I've read the Diviners series by Libba Bray and I liked them, although the writing was a bit heavy on descriptions 😅 I like historical settings in general, plus we have some mystery mixed with the occult here.. which is *chef's kiss*
“We’re very close. Like sisters. But more like the Borgias than the March girls.”
😂 I love Gemma and Fee's friendship. Depending how this story goes I may be interested in reading the Gemma Doyle books.
Whaaaat? It just ends like that? No, I want more. This is definitely the one I like the most, and then comes the Universe of wishes.

The sentence in the beginning about wishes being granted by the dead was what hooked me a few days ago when I opened the book. However, now that I started it I skipped that little part (because I should be going to bed instead of starting a new book, so every little bit helps) and I was shocked that he firstly gets dirty in the cemetery and has dirt under his nails.. and now he's breaking into a coffin shop and I was... dude does weird things... and then I remembered 😅
I liked it, it's a great start to the book. Liked how crystals are powerful and how they became that way, by soaking up magic from the earth. I want a book set in this world.

The friend or foe comment... I have no idea.. I have to check it. Ooh, it ends with the Wellmother calling Nina by her name.. for a second I was scared someone has discovered her.
Ch 13. Nina being scared Hanne hasn't had waffles 😂
Ch 15 (view spoiler)
Ch 16 (view spoiler)
Finished the first part of the book.

Points Check-In:"
It wasn't it.. but Melanie didn't put her last book in our sheet so after inputting that... all is good.

all in all.. i'm just waiting for it to be over, since it's not interesting to me.. the way it's written kinda reminds me of Woven in moonlight.. except the MC here isn't an idiot.

Great :D
Also, as I read more of Elatsoe I see that I misinterpreted the cover... there definitely is no snow even though it looked like that to me 😅 so it's probably going to go to the indigenous MC task

What is the book about?

Finished the first 5 chapters and I'm gonna continue with it because it's short and easy to read, but I'm not really into it. I didn't expect the writing to be so... for a younger audience? and the dialogues are a bit, well not cringy, but weird for sure.

* MC is South Asian
* Pronouns in the title
* A [Noun] of [Noun] and [Noun}
* takes place during holiday
* time travel book
* takes place in Asia (Planning on reading something for this, maybe even 2 somethings)
* takes place in South America or Australia/Oceania
* snow or mountains on the cover (Gonna start Elatsoe)
* bird or feline on the cover (Reading Rule of Wolves for it)

I know they were looking for a match.. but didn't the princess die with Isaak?
Guess what? Still haven't watched the series..
Ch3:
Ahhh, how I missed Nikolai and Zoya.. I find it now funny how Zoya became one of my favorite characters when she was just meh in the first book of this universe.
Ch4: Oh-oh. Is it a friend or a foe 😳
Ch8: I remember the Ravkan king not being Nikolai's father.. but oooh, he's a full blood Fjerdan?
Ch9: Well damn, the Darkling is a real psychopath. I don't remember that from the Shadow and Bone books.. but also that was a long time ago.

B4-8 I like that we kinda get to follow to special persons in Gabriel telling the story to Francois. In his past he's the special one, and in the newer timeline it's Dior.
B4-9 😲🤯 The floating lady/vampire must me Astrid.. so I was right.. dead..
Done with B4-10

I may be only suspicious because things aren't always simple.. but is the tea spiked or something? (I'm at the part when Gabe is left with the Blanchet lady and the priest) Also, I would think that the order's business is only the order's business, and that the priest is only trying to get info out of Gabriel. 😂😂 Okay, nothing like that happened, but 😮 there might actually be something extra special with Gabriel.
😮 Nice, a new "extinguished" vampire line.. also he was drugged.
B3-9
Gosh.. Gabriel barging how he's soooo good after killing the Claude boy vampire is going on my nerves so much. I get that he's the best now, although also the last, but this is the period where he just started the Order life.
